College is a waste of time and money

Proof positive that sending your kid to college is a waste of time and money these days, read this bit by Craig Robinson of the Iowa Republican:


A University of Iowa professor felt the need to reply to a blast email by the College Republicans on Monday morning. Ellen Lewin, a professor of Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies, sent a vulgar response to a College Republican email about the group’s, “Conservative Coming Out Week.”


The College Republican email, which was sent to the entire University of Iowa Community, had been approved by a number of university officials before being sent out.


Lewin responded to email by writing, “#*@% [F-Word] YOU, REPUBLICANS” from her official university email account.

OK, in the post under Lex berates the P-BO for his idea of funding college education. First, I’m still looking at the constitution and cannot find the part where the founders say it’s ok for the federal government to pick your pocket to send other people’s kids to college. But who am I? The P-BO supposedly taught constitutional law for 10 years. I doubt it. If he did, that would be yet another reason not send your kid to college.

I’m not even so upset with the “professor’s” language. Were I a professor and the college Demo-Dopes had sent me an e-mail, who knows how many expletives would have been necessary for me to express my loathing for them.

What is really disturbing about this story is the “professor’s” title – Professor of Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies. Huh? YGBSM.

That’s right U of I parents, the hard earned Yankee dollars you spend to send your offspring to “college” is being spent to fund the Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies. Money well spent, I’m sure. And this would be the tip of the iceberg. You have to know every other aggrieved minority has to have its own department.

College tuition has risen many times the rate of inflation over the past decade. Now we know why. Funding the department of left handed, club footed, gay, queer, transgender, derby wearing, dwarf, bassoon players costs a lot of money. But nobody is calling out the universities. In fact the P-BO thinks we need to spend more. I think every university needs a Department of Common Sense headed up and staffed exclusively by parents who are paying the tab. That department would decide who gets to have a department. I think if that were the case, Ellen Lewin and legions of know nothing “professors” in the Departments of Transgender Black Hockey Playing, Hoop Skirt Wearing, Biscuit Eating, Cliff Diving, Race Car Drivers who like Chinese Opera would be looking for other jobs this morning.

But you know what? I’m pretty certain, and I don’t know why I know this but I do, that the Lewin chick is not qualified for anything other than spewing her personal opinion for 45 minutes three times a week about...what - Anthropology and Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies in the Department of Gender, Women’s & Sexuality Studies - to students who already totally agree with her or are held hostage by a grade. Oh, that and sending out colorful e-mails.

So, anyone out there looking for a colorful e-mail writer?

After seeing Lex's scathing report on the $600K toad art project, the Army has backed down.  The Army?  I thought it was Transportation making these BS decisions.  Hey Army!  We're in three wars.  If we're goning to fund art projects, maybe a tribute to those taking up arms might be appropriate.  Check with Ms. Lewin for a non-gender specific all inclusive piece - all inclusive that is except for the college Republicans and Chrisitians, and white men who aren't gay.  Other than that, all inclusive.
