I guess the easiest response to James Cox’s letter “Sudden change of opinion” of, appropriately, April Fool’s Day 2020 would be to list a couple of dozen or so of Barak Obama and his minions’ bogus explanations of O-care and how “if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor.”
That’s far too easy a way to show Cox’s hypocrisy and is a bit off topic. So let’s go with these gems from Democrats on the Chinese Virus.
“This is no time for Donald Trump’s record of hysteria and xenophobia — hysterical xenophobia — and fearmongering.” Slow Joe Biden the day after President Trump imposed travel restrictions on China.
“We think it’s very safe” Grand Nan from San Fran Pelosi Feb 24, 2020 while encouraging San Franciscans to go out to eat.
“In hard times, New Yorkers know to stand by their neighbors,” NY City Mayor De Blasio said. “We’re in Flushing today to embrace Asian-American owned small businesses and say to all New Yorkers: New York City’s Chinatowns are open for business!” Feb 13, 2020.
“Since I’m encouraging New Yorkers to go on with your lives + get out on the town despite Coronavirus,” NY City Mayor De Blasio told his Twitter followers on March 3.
As to the change, on Mar 31 Doctors Fauci and Birx said there was no indication of how infectious the Chinese Virus was in the early weeks of the pandemic. In the real world, things sometimes change over time. “In a perfect world, it would have been nice to know what was going on [at the beginning of the pandemic], and we didn’t,” Fauci said. “But I believe, Jim, that we acted very, very early in that.”
Of course Cox, like most ignorant lefty libs, throws in the lie about President Trump saying the virus was hoax. Not true. Trump said the Democrat response to the virus was/is a hoax, which is true.
So Mr. Cox, please explain what the left’s incessant whining, lying, backbiting and 20/20 hindsight are doing to improve things? That question applies to the JG editors who pick the letters as well.
Sudden change of opinion
Here are some recent Donald Trump quotes about the coronavirus:
Feb. 20: “We have it totally under control.”
Feb. 26: “Fifteen (cases); within a couple of days it's gonna be down to close to zero.”
Feb. 28: “Coronavirus — this is the next hoax.”
March 6: “Anybody who wants a test can get a test.”
March 10: “It's really working out. A lot of good things are gonna happen.”
March 11: “No, I don't take responsibility at all.”
March 15: “It'll all be so great. We're gonna be so good.”
March 16: “I would rate it (handling of the coronavirus) a 10.”
March 17: “This is a pandemic. I felt it was a pandemic before it was called a pandemic.”
Please explain.
