CIA NEEDS TO BE OVERHAULED

The Washington Post is sounding the alarm that there is chaos at the CIA. The Deputy Director has resigned the Deputy Director of Operations and several other top level officials are threatening to resign. The agency is in “turmoil” according to the Post.

I don’t understand why there should be turmoil over the resignations real or threatened of a bunch of people who should have been fired years ago. While the Post runs in circles shouting, “The sky is falling! The sky is falling!” Director Goss is no doubt doing what he was hired to do, clear out the dead wood. When it gets the ax, the dead wood runs to the Post and screams about chaos and turmoil. The post never wanting to miss an opportunity to bash Bush gleefully publishes the story.

Well how could the agency that missed, Saddam’s move into Kuwait, Korea’s, India’s and Pakistan’s acquisition of nuclear weapons, 9-11, and Saddam’s disposal of his WMD be any worse off for cleaning house? It’s not as if the CIA were a well oiled machine, hitting on all cylinders that is now being tinkered with by some shade tree mechanic. It’s a jalopy that hasn’t run right in years. It is now being overhauled in the hope that it can be returned to useful service. The process may require some new parts.
