Bush leads, politicians follow...the polls

WARNING: A bit long today but as Lex is off for the 4th of July weekend, this post can to cover the four days I’ll be gone. Have a great 4th - remember what we’re celebrating.

In honor of the up coming 4th of July holiday, I picked a copy of David McCullough’s “1776”. There is a quote from January 14, 1776 by George Washington, “The reflection upon my situation and that of this army produces many an uneasy hour when all around me are wrapped in sleep. Few people know the predicament we are in.” Washington’s army in 1776 was an undisciplined, unkempt, poorly supplied, unevenly led bunch hardly worthy of the name army. The British regulars referred to them as “armed rabble”.

Today, “patriot” Democrats and the MSM are doing their darnedest to have you believe that our army today is no better – probably worse – than that of 1776. By their words and coverage, they would have you believe that are armed forces are made up entirely of immoral, illiterate, murdering high school drop outs who only joined because there are no jobs in this lousy Bush economy and they are being led by lying craven careerists. RC Durbin rushes to the floor of the Senate to condemn US troops comparing them to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot. Few if any Democrats repudiate the remarks. The MSM, smelling a scandal for RC, simply ignores the story.

Joey Boy the plagiarizing dolt Biden says every commander in Iraq is asking for more troops, ignoring the testimony of General George Casey Commanding General, Multinational Forces, Iraq. General Casey must be lying in an effort to curry favor with Rumsfeld I suppose.

The MSM hops on every single story that might place our troops in an unfavorable light. Endless stories on the scandal at Abu Graihb and lies about Gitmo. Any story about an American firing his weapon under questionable circumstances in the heat of combat has that American and his leadership convicted of war crimes before the investigation even starts. When the investigation reveals a “just firing”, the media insinuate cover up and never gives the out come 1/10th the coverage as their bogus accusations. When Americans reject the MSM media tripe, the MSM simply move hyping the next “scandal” hoping for traction.

Mr. McCullough pulled another wonderful quote from Washington, “Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” Sadly, Democrats and the MSM have no spirit and the only perseverance they possess is in attacking our Commander-in-Chief and his army. It truly is a sad state of affairs. The president and his army not only have to battle a ruthless enemy in Iraq but the useful idiots back home. And it’s not just Democrats. “Republicans” like Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Chuck Hagel offer the troops and their Commander-in-Chief little help. Graham sniffs that we’re loosing the people. Well Senator, how about some leadership on your part? How about getting out and rallying the people around a cause for which you supposedly stand behind the president.

It’s called leadership. In the early days of the Revolution, units “elected” their own leaders. Guess who got elected - the “leaders” that required the least from their troops. The army only transformed from “armed rabble” to what could loosely be termed a real army when leadership arrived to take the army where it needed to go vice where it wanted to go. Anyone can lead an army on to leave and liberty (vacation and quitting time for you civilians). It takes a real leader to lead an army to the sound of battle. The MSM runs polls so that craven politicians can lead the people where they want go rather than where the country must go. Nefariously, questions are worded to illicit the response the MSM desires. So, the craven politicians responding to the poll are not responding to the people at all but rather the MSM. I can get support for the war up to about 85%. Ask the question this way, “Only cowards and fools cut and run. Would you cut and run in Iraq?” President Bush is leading where this country must go. He could use a little help.

Dems are going spazoid about the president linking Saddam to 9/11 which he never did. He did link Saddam to the war on terror. I don’t need proof that Saddam was sympathetic to terrorists who wanted to harm to the US. To me that is intuitive. There are far too many particulars for this space but you can visit here and here for the long list of how dopey the Dems are to insist Saddam wasn’t in cahoots with terrorists.

In his speech, the president asked us to do something for the men and women defending America. The Army burn unit in San Antonio, TX is working to restore the young men who enter that facility to some sort of normal life. When one particularly badly burned Marine had a General Officer visit to award him his Purple Heart medal, the Marine reportedly said, “If it’s alright sir, I’d rather wait until I can stand and salute.” The Moon Light Fund helps the service people coming in and out of the burn unit. Their website is http://www.moonlightfund.org/purple_heart.htm. Check it out. Contribute if you can.

Somebody's lying, my money's on the Democrat

British Labor Leader, oops he just steals their work, Sen. Joe B. (for boy) Biden, was on President Bush like a hobo (aka bum, aka homeless person) on a ham sandwich for Bush’s assertion that military commanders in Iraq have sufficient forces. Joey B noted that in his own trip at the end of May, every commander wanted more troops. "Not one of them said they had enough troops. Not one," JB told CNN.

Well JB must not have talked to General George Casey. But that’s understandable because as Commanding General, Multinational Force Iraq General Casey probably doesn’t have a handle on what’s going on in Iraq. At a hearing before the Senate Armed Services Committee last week General Casey said, “[W]hat I’ve said since my confirmation hearing before you: If I assess I need more troops, I will ask for them. And, before the last election, we did our assessment, saw that we needed more troops and we ask for them – and we got them. And they made a huge difference in the election…We’re reading the situation and we’ll make our assessments. And, if we need more [troops], Senator, we’ll ask for them.” Somebody's lying.

I guess JB was too busy rummaging through old British Labor party speeches to pay attention to what General Casey had to say. CNN too happy that JB was trashing the Commander-in Chief refused to bring up Casey’s testimony before the SASC. But a lot can be determined in the way a question is asked. My fire support instructor back in Quantico, VA said, “You ask for every fire support asset the division has and hope you get a section of company mortars.” So if JB asks the LT, “Hey would like to have more troops? The answer will invariably be, “Sure, why not?” If you want the truth you might ask, “Do have enough troops to accomplish your assigned mission?” The answer might be yes as well. But that second “yes” will never make the network news.

A recent CNN poll asked “Should America stay in Iraq indefinitely, or set a timetable for withdrawal?” Who in their right mind votes for “indefinitely”? What a dopey question the corollary to which would be, “Should America turn tail, cut and run from Iraq or win?” Believe none of what you hear and only half of what see unless it’s on CNN, then you must revert back to none.

Democrats, dolts, dopes and deceivers

It must be terrible being a Democrat. President Bush hadn’t finished shaking hands after his inspired and hopeful speech last night before doom and gloom Democrats took the air criticizing the president and America’s effort to secure herself while bring freedom to a corner of the world where it is desperately needed. Democrat, dopes, dolts and deceivers continue with their mantra, “Bush misled us into war.”

Quick history lesson who said the following, A) Fred Flintstone B) President Clinton C) George Jetson D) Roger Rabbit:

“Earlier today, I ordered America's armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq's nuclear, chemical and biological weapons programs and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors.

“Six weeks ago, Saddam Hussein announced that he would no longer cooperate with the United Nations weapons inspectors called UNSCOM. They are highly professional experts from dozens of countries. Their job is to oversee the elimination of Iraq's capability to retain, create and use weapons of mass destruction, and to verify that Iraq does not attempt to rebuild that capability. The inspectors undertook this mission first 7 1/2 years ago at the end of the Gulf War when Iraq agreed to declare and destroy its arsenal as a condition of the ceasefire.

“The international community had good reason to set this requirement. Other countries possess weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missiles. With Saddam, there is one big difference: He has used them. Not once, but repeatedly. Unleashing chemical weapons against Iranian troops during a decade-long war. Not only against soldiers, but against civilians, firing Scud missiles at the citizens of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Iran. And not only against a foreign enemy, but even against his own people, gassing Kurdish civilians in Northern Iraq.

“First, without a strong inspection system, Iraq would be free to retain and begin to rebuild its chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs in months, not years.

“Second, if Saddam can crippled the weapons inspection system and get away with it, he would conclude that the international community -- led by the United States -- has simply lost its will. He will surmise that he has free rein to rebuild his arsenal of destruction, and someday -- make no mistake -- he will use it again as he has in the past.

“Third, in halting our air strikes in November, I gave Saddam a chance, not a license. If we turn our backs on his defiance, the credibility of U.S. power as a check against Saddam will be destroyed. We will not only have allowed Saddam to shatter the inspection system that controls his weapons of mass destruction program; we also will have fatally undercut the fear of force that stops Saddam from acting to gain domination in the region.

“That is why, on the unanimous recommendation of my national security team -- including the vice president, the secretary of defense, the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff, the secretary of state and the national security adviser -- I have ordered a strong, sustained series of air strikes against Iraq. They are designed to degrade Saddam's capacity to develop and deliver weapons of mass destruction, and to degrade his ability to threaten his neighbors.”

Dingdingdingding – CORRECT! President Clinton waxing eloquently about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction in 1998.

On January 28, 1998, with Democrat Bill Clinton in the White House, Sen. Kerry voted for Senate Concurrent Resolution 71 which warned of the "continued threat" posed by "Iraq's refusal to "end its weapons of mass destruction programs." That resolution, entitled "Iraq's Threat to International Peace and Security" stated:

"Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring —(1) Condemns in the strongest possible terms the continued threat to international peace and security posed by Iraq's refusal to meet its international obligations and end its weapons of mass destruction programs;”

On November 9, 1997, self proclaimed 4 month war hero, who served in Vietnam before collaborating with enemy, John Kerry waxed eloquently himself from the floor of the Senate in a speech entitled, "We Must be Firm with Saddam Hussein (unless George Bush is president then we should side with Hussein against America)":

“In my judgment, the Security Council should authorize a strong U.N. military response that will materially damage, if not totally destroy, as much as possible of the suspected infrastructure for developing and manufacturing weapons of mass destruction, as well as key military command and control nodes. Saddam Hussein should pay a grave price, in a currency that he understands and values, for his unacceptable behavior.

"This should not be a strike consisting only of a handful of cruise missiles hitting isolated targets primarily of presumed symbolic value. But how long this military action might continue and how it may escalate should Saddam remain intransigent and how extensive would be its reach are for the Security Council and our allies to know and for Saddam Hussein ultimately to find out. ...”

Now John boy and his Democrat friends continue the lie “He misled us into war.” Calling Dr. Cruise….Calling Dr. Cruise…Democrats are in need of your Scientology cure for schizophrenia, delusions of grandeur, diarrhea of the mouth, depression, ignorance, pessimism, boorish behavior, two-faced hypocrisy and just plain stupidity. Calling Dr. Cruise.

Supreme Court poves Tom Cruise is wrong

Last night I tuned into the unwatchable Keith Olbermann show which happened to be re-broadcasting an argument between well known psychiatry experts Matt Lauer and Tom Cruise. As I watched I started laughing to myself. Watching these two argue about the worth of psychiatric therapy and drugs, I had this visual of the dopey Joey character from Friends arguing with the equally dopey Kramer character from Seinfeld about the impact of nuclear medicine on cancer patients. Tom Cruise was adamant about the futility of psychiatric treatment and drug use to control depression or any other mental illness – you can trust Tom, he once played a Dr. in the movies. The most instructive part of the whole thing was when Olbermann came back, he disclosed that he’d been in therapy since the late 80s – apparently making little progress and boosting Cruise’s whole argument – and explaining a lot about Olbermann’s…uhmmmm…“condition.” That was all could stand and flipped the channel to something more educational, like Johnny Bravo.

Then the TV started going spazo with Supreme Court decisions on this and that. There were two decisions that I’m sure would have Tom Cruise re-thinking his position on the benefit of mind altering drugs. In what can only be called a fit of schizophrenia the SC handed down two decisions on the Ten Commandments that say the commandments can be outside the courthouse but not inside, can be displayed with other “historic documents” but not alone, can be on and in old buildings but not new ones, can be in the bible witnesses swear on in the courtroom but not on the courtroom wall, are OK if considered a work of art but not if the display is too kitsch. In short they decided nothing. They have said, “We’ll decide these things on a case by case basis.”

It’s hard for me to understand what is so mysterious about the words, “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” The clause clearly has the intent of keeping government out of religion not religion out of government. The key to the clause is that the government may not coerce one to any religious point of view. It is not a guarantee that one will never be confronted with religion. There is nothing in there or anywhere else in the constitution about “separation of church and state.” Now if 66 senators and 38 states think that the words “separation of church and state” belong somewhere in the constitution, they are free to purse an amendment to that affect. This issue points out the dilemma activist courts pose. It’s impossible for the legislative branch, which best reflects the will of the people, to amend the constitution every time some nutball former ambulance chaser decides that by golly the constitution does say that Mayor Dope can seize your property and give it to his cousin to open a McDonald’s.

Monday, June 27, 2005

Your home may be the Mayor's castle

The rule of five has raised its ugly, ignorant cranium again. This time five dopes in robes, former ambulance chasers all, have decide the town council can seize the house that has been in your family for over two hundred years at market value, then turn around and sell it at great profit to the town McDonald’s franchisers. The dopes in robes used the Fifth Amendment, which allows governments to take property by eminent domain, as long as just compensation is paid, as cover. The dopes were exposed as dopes because these uses have always been understood to be necessary government-provided infrastructure such as hospitals or roads. Taking an owner’s home so that someone else can build a nicer home is an obscene interpretation of the Fifth Amendment.

With this horrible decision, the unelected dopes have decided that increasing the tax base also could be covered under eminent domain. That means that your house now goes to the highest bidder. This is an unbelievable decision. The town council, petty as town councils often are, can decide that the home of a council critic needs to be raised so that the council president can build a bigger home on the lot thereby giving the town additional revenue. The only recourse left now is what constitutes just compensation.

Elections are important. Elections are what shape our judiciary. The judiciary is now shaping the country. Democrats are reversing the election through the filibuster of Bush’s judicial nominations. The mid-term election may be as important as any our nation has held. One more drubbing at the polls may turn Dems away from their moonbat base and make a decent guy like Liebermann look appealing again.

Dems play Elmer Fudd; Rove plays Bugs

That wascawy wabbit Kawal Wove laid another perfect trap for anti-American Libs. While the RC Durbin thing was still a hot item, Rove gave speech in NY where he mentioned “Conservatives saw the savagery of 9/11 in the attacks and prepared for war; liberals saw the savagery of the 9/11 attacks and wanted to prepare indictments and offer therapy and understanding for our attackers.” To make the bait in the trap more enticing Rove went on to say “Let me just put this in fairly simple terms: Al Jazeera now broadcasts the words of Senator Durbin to the Mideast, certainly putting our troops in greater danger. No more needs to be said about the motives of liberals.”

After enough dolts on the Lib side stepped into the trap feigning outrage, “Why how could he!
We demand an apology, his resignation and a free weekend at Disneyland!” Perennial presidential candidate, liar and plagiarizer Joey boy Biden signed on to a letter whinning to the president “Make him stop. Whaa. Make him stop. Whaaa.” Only after the maximum number of Libs possible were on record crying like babies did Rove and the RNC spring the trap and publish the following:

"It’s outrageous that the same Democrats who stood by Dick Durbin’s libeling of our military are now expressing faux outrage over Karl Rove’s statement of historical fact. George Soros, Michael Moore, MoveOn and the hard left were wrong after 9/11, just as it was wrong for Democrat leaders to stand by and remain silent after Dick Durbin made his deplorable comments.”
- RNC Chairman Ken Mehlman
Liberal Third Party Groups Urged Restraint, Blamed America:
Immediately After 9/11, MoveOn.Org Petition Urged “Moderation And Restraint” And Use Of “International Judicial Institutions.”

• Just After 9/11, Moore Blamed America’s “Taxpayer-Funded Terrorism” And Bush Administration For Terrorist Attacks. “We abhor terrorism – unless we’re the ones doing the terrorizing. We paid and trained and armed a group of terrorists in Nicaragua in the 1980s who killed over 30,000 civilians. That was OUR work. You and me.…Let’s mourn, let’s grieve, and when it’s appropriate let’s examine our contribution to the unsafe world we live in.” (Michael Moore Website Archive, “Death, Downtown,” Posted 9/12/01, www.michaelmoore.com, Accessed 7/27/04)

Liberal Donor George Soros Claimed America Should Have Treated 9/11 Attacks As Crime, Responded With Police Work. “War is a false and misleading metaphor in the context of combating terrorism. Treating the attacks of September 11 as crimes against humanity would have been more appropriate. Crimes require police work, not military action. To protect against terrorism, you need precautionary measures, awareness, and intelligence gathering – all of which ultimately depend on the support of the populations among which terrorists operate. Imagine for a moment that September 11 had been treated as a crime. We would have pursued Bin Laden in Afghanistan, but we would not have invaded Iraq. Nor would we have our military struggling to perform police work in full combat gear and getting killed in the process.” (George Soros, The Bubble Of American Supremacy, 2004, p. 18)
• Soros Said The Execution Of 9/11 Attacks “Could Not Have Been More Spectacular.” “Admittedly, the terrorist attack was a historic event in its own right. Hijacking fully loaded airplanes and using them as suicide bombs was an audacious idea, and the execution could not have been more spectacular.” (George Soros, The Bubble Of American Supremacy, 2004, p. 2)
• Soros Said War On Terror Had Claimed More Innocent Victims Than 9/11 Attack Itself. “This is a very tough thing to say, but the fact is, that the war on terror as conducted by this administration, has claimed more innocent victims that the original attack itself.” (George Soros, Remarks At Take Back America Conference, Washington, DC, 6/3/04)
Liberal Democrats Urged Restraint, Blamed America:

Dennis Kucinich (D-OH): “‘The Time For Peace Is Now,’ [Kucinich] Declared Optimistically July 11, Two Months To The Day Before Terrorists Hit The Pentagon And The World Trade Center. … Sitting In His Capitol Hill Office Last Week, Near A Window Where He Could See The Smoke Rising From The Pentagon On Sept. 11, Kucinich Insisted He Is More Optimistic Than Ever That People Worldwide Are Ready To Embrace The Cause Of Nonviolence.” (Elizabeth Auster, “Offer The Hand Of Peace,” [Cleveland, OH] Plain Dealer, 9/30/01)

They are all just Marines

When is a Marine not a Marine? When it’s a female Marine. Female Marines were known as Women Marines or WMs. A somewhat less affectionate but none-the-less accurate term was often used referring to WMs as BAMs or broad assed Marines. The Marine leadership correctly purged both terms from Marine speak. Unless it was absolutely essential to understanding, female Marines were just Marines.

Now, a few Marines who happen to be women have been killed in Fallujah and they are WMs again. A giant step backward for the women’s movement, I think. This is a sign of my whole problem with women in the military. My experience with women in the service has been that if you treat them like women, they are offended. If you treat them like men, they are offended. Your only truly safe option is to ignore them, if possible. Don’t hold a door or chair. Don’t offer to help carry something. Don’t tell any jokes. Don't swear. Don’t criticize their position too harshly. And whatever else you might do, don’t look at them for more than a nana second least you be accused of leering or ogling. The problem was particularly acute with women in the officer corps. The problem was by no means universal but occurred frequently enough to keep one on eggshells until the disposition of the individual could be determined.

Take the Tailhook debacle. Little that went on there could be said to be in keeping with the good order and discipline of the military. But it’s odd to me that a woman who volunteered to have men suck Jello shots out of her navel, shacked up with a married man and performed some sort of sexual shaving ritual with a half dozen men, can make millions by being offended by the whole thing in the light of day. In the process this “officer” ruins the careers of hundreds and hundreds of male colleagues, many whose conduct was far less lurid than their her own. The whole episode ended with every male Naval Aviator spending the next several years having to prove his innocence in order to be promoted.

Now I have used this space to offer the opinion that a country willing to send its women to war is a kin to a husband that nudges his wife when he hears something go bump in night and says, “Aren’t you going to check that out?” Well under relentless pressure from the MSM and Libs that “women can do anything a man can” the military has caved on this issue bit by bit. Now having gotten ostensibly what they have asked for, watch the MSM and Libs excoriate the military for getting women killed in combat. It is frustrating enough that Joe Marine can be killed with little more than “another Marine was killed today” from the MSM but when Mary Marine gets killed in the exact same circumstances, “STOP THE PRESS – EXTRA – EXTRA – MARY MARINE KILLED IN IRAQ.” This is followed by endless human interest stories about how Mary only joined the Marines because she was poor and need money for college etc. etc. Rarely will the MSM media discover the life altering change for good that the Corps visits upon young people - the esprit de corps, discipline and purpose larger than ones self.

For me they are all just Marines and I hurt for them and their families because I see the faces of the 100s and 100s of Marines I have known and wonder if it might be one of them. If it isn’t, it’s someone just like them and it hurts just as much.

Move the UN to Minot, ND

Kofi Annan wants to get the UN inside Gitmo. Well OK. Now we’re getting somewhere. Lock the bums up. But no, they don’t want to be locked up there. They only want to come in, look around long enough to condemn everything, set up a child prostitution ring, and loot anything not nailed down before beating it back to their penthouse suites and raft of unpaid parking tickets in NYNY.

The president ought to say to Kofi, “Well, why don’t you take that fine idea up with my UN Ambassador?” “Uh, Mr. President you don’t have a UN Ambassador” notes Kofi. “Well dang, looks like you’ll have to take it up with Harry Reid. See ya Kofi.”

The Griffin has an interesting idea of how to handle the UN. The Griffin sends:

“We do not need an ambassador at the U.N. We do not need a babysitter at the U.N. We do not need friends at the U.N. We do need to move the U.N. to Montreal or rotate it every 3 years to some other city, country, or island. Let’s see how Kofi and the boys get along in Minot, ND.

If I were GWB, I would not do anything concerning getting Bolton nominated. I would work on something else. When the next crisis comes up and the U.N starts squawking, I would just have Condi make a few phone calls to let the UN know the president’s position.

The U.N. is no longer of value to the world. If it could be changed it might be worth keeping. Presently it contains a great many bureaucrats with bloated egos and expense accounts. It cannot prevent wars. It cannot generate income, it spends. It cannot bring economies together. It is just another great idea poorly executed.

If Bolton is nominated, I would call him in and give him the following instructions: (1) Come back here in 30 days and tell me what needs to be changed at the U.N. to make it work. (2) Tell me why we should stay in the U.N. (3) The U.N. building belongs to us. I want it closed immediately for renovation and made resistant to terrorist attack. Take at least 3 years to do it. Find a temporary home for the U.N in some other country. (4) Withhold payments to the U.N. and use it for the massive renovation.

In early 2008 we would allow the U.N. to move back in. It would look like a log hunting cabin with mounted animal heads from each country (including Saddam's head). There would 'smoking required' signs up in some rooms and a gaming casino. We would let a NY Indian tribe run it.

Don't like it...leave.”

Time for Tomlinson and CPB to go

The perfect visual for what the Democrat Party has become. MA Dem Rep. Ed Markey marches with core Dem voters - make believe characters from PBS. Posted by Hello

The usual wacko crowd has sent a letter to the president asking him to sack Ken Tomlinson as head of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. Tomlinson’s crime against humanity was to appoint and ombudsman to insure that guests that appear on National Public Radio and the Public Broadcast System represent a wide range of political views. I think the wackos have stumbled upon something this time. Tomlinson should be sacked. But only after everyone associated with the CPB has been sacked, the office equipment sold and the entire waste of taxpayer money shut down.

CPB was founded in 1967 by congress during the era of the big three networks. The CPB created NPR and PBS in 1969 to distribute their products. The whole setup was ostensibly established to allow some local control over the airwaves and serve as an outlet for alternative programming that didn’t have to be reliant on commercial appeal. So we got a long line of programming that nobody watched – but claimed they did at cocktail parties, like “Oh, Ed and I just love Masterpiece Theater.” What actually happened was Ed and Mabel fell asleep together on the couch during one episode because it was soooooo insufferably boring. The whole CPB scam was set up to run off of viewer contributions and a small stipend from federal, state and local governments.

CPB has a budget of $2.3 billion dollars. Its website claims that the largest portion of that budget, $609,210,000 or 26% comes from member contributions. However when federal ($362,809,000 or 16%) state ($317,482,000 or 14%) and local ($56,263,000 or 2.4%) tax “contributions” are added together the biggest contributor to the CPB is…drum roll please…you the American taxpayer. That’s right Mr. & Mrs. America, you are paying Bill Moyer to trash your own country.

One bright guy from Accuracy in Media recently likened CPB to a 38 year old guy still living in his mom and dad’s basement. It’s time the 38 year old got out of the basement and started to make it on his own, he said. He is, of course, right. Whatever utility CPB once had, and I doubt it ever had any, that utility has long since passed. In the age of countless cable tv and radio outlets, anyone with an opinion – even unwatchable dopes like Ron – gee I’m glad my dad was president – Reagan and Keith – could I be any more arrogant, condescending, flip and obtuse – Olbermann have an outlet.

So the Dems are right on this one. Hey, a broken clock is right twice a day – unless its one of those neat military clocks that has 24 hours on it then it’s only right once. Give Tomlinson his two week notice. Tell him to shut it down. Turn out the lights. If we ever needed CPB, we don’t need it anymore.

Proof positive that no one associated with the Bush administration is safe from Dem whining and criticism, Joe Biden today demanded the Laura Bush step down as First Lady. “She’s a partisan hack.” Biden moaned. “We just don’t need that kind of thing while I’m trying to bring this nation together….in a hatred of President Bush.”

Yes ambassador, but how many votes did you get in the senate

Well Dick Durbin finally got a clue and apologized. If you call these words an apology, “Some may believe that my remarks crossed the line, and to them I extend my heartfelt apologies.” “Some may believe” – but the moonbat Dem base don’t so I’m still OK – “to them I extend my heartfelt apologies” – can’t believe I’m apologizing to people who will never vote for me anyway. It seems Durbin’s choice of words still places the blame for the whole fiasco squarely on the shoulders of those offended by his thoughtless remarks. It’s sort of like the Steve Martin bit on Saturday Night Live. “Well EXCUUUUSE me for comparing the greatest, freest, most powerful, most generous, most compassionate, most creative nation in the history of the world with Nazis, Soviets and Khmer Rouge.” I don’t believe the apology is one bit sincere, but I guess you have to give him the benefit of the doubt. So, we’ll drop this until the next time Durbin spouts off with what he believes to be the truth and ends up offending the sensibilities of everyone with a brain. That would be everyone, save the anti-American Libs that comprise the Dem base.

On a funnier note, Neil Kinnock wannabe, Joe Biden has torpedoed John Bolton’s nomination to the UN. Biden wants more information from the White House on Bolton. The president has said no. This was probably a good move on the president’s part. Once you give in, the list of things dopes like Biden would demand would be endless. So now the MSM is forwarding the idiotic idea that the nomination should be dropped because the UN ambassador’s position would be too weakened were he to become recess appointment. Oh yeah, I’m sure the first thing diplomats will be asking Bolton is, “How many votes did you get in the senate?”

Were I the president all law abiding citizens 21 years and older would be required to carry a firearm that starts with a 4 or higher, smoke ‘em if you’ve got ‘em, drive a large American made car…oops sorry that’s not the point. Let’s try again. Were I the president I’d tell Joe Biden, “Look you ran for president once and got your butt kicked. You are going to run again and you’ll get your butt kicked. I’ve run twice and won twice. There are consequences to elections. The winner gets to pick his team. I want Bolton on my team. If there are enough moonbats out there for you to be president in ‘08, sorry for laughing, well you can replace Bolton. For now, just give him an up or down vote.”

I’d make the Dems vote twice a week on Bolton. Then I’d start running ads in FL, NE, MN, WV, WI, MI, NM and ND. After noting the 10 or so current UN scandals, I’d ask, “Why are Senate Democrats obstructing UN reform?”

Tonight only! Two dopes for the price of one!

Howard “the scream” Dean is appearing tonight with the poster boy for historic ignorance, RC Durbin, at a thing called “Paint the Nation Blue fundraiser.” Wow! One can only imagine the lunacy which might emanate from the stage as these two great thinkers trying to out-do one another in order to work up the moonbats who would pay good money to see these two idiots on stage at the same time. It’s interesting to note that more Democrats believe the greatest threat to the US today is not terrorism but the faux issue of outsourcing. This is the Democrat base that “the scream”, RC, Pelosi, Shrillary, Teddy etc. have to appeal to in order to have a future as a Democrat politician.

Sadly, what RC Durbin said accurately reflects his beliefs and those that comprise the base of his party. That is why after a week of reflection, RC still sees nothing much to apologize for – after all he is the guest of honor tonight at the Paint the Nation Blue fundraiser. He must be adored by the base – right? Not only is RC not apologizing, no one in the Democrat party seem too terribly upset with what RC said. Scary Harry Reid says he is through talking about the controversy. Well that settles it. If Harry’s done, well then we’re all done.

The reason the scared one is done talking about RC’s treason is that while RC and other kook Dems have to say these idiotic things because a) they believe them and b) it gets the kook Dem base to cough up $$ - but it won’t win many statewide elections let alone a national one. So Harry’s between the proverbial Iraq and a hard place. He and Dem leaders have to sound like the anti-American kooks who they probably are to get money from their anti-American base, but anti-Americanism is not a very solid platform from which to run a political campaign in America. Poor Harry’s dilemma - abandon the kook base and their $$ or replace the war on terrorism at the top of the list of threats to America with outsourcing. Proof it is not yet safe to vote for a Democrat.

Something like treason

President Clinton has added his voice to list of those calling for the closure of Gitmo. In an interview with the Financial Times, the former president called for the camp, set up to hold suspected terrorists, to “be closed down or cleaned up”. Now that is more like it, mend it don’t end it. What do we know about “abuses” that have taken place at Gitmo. We have the Newweak story about a Koran that was flushed down the toilet. But that turned out to be a lie. In an ironic twist the investigation into the claim showed that the detainees were the ones doing most the Koran defiling. We know that RC Durbin has an unsubstantiated FBI memo that says guards may run the AC for certain prisoners very low then very high to extract information to save American lives. We know Amnesty International published a report that Gitmo is the modern day gulag – then admitted to not knowing enough about conditions at Gitmo to make such a claim.

The real outrage isn't what is happening to terrorist thugs at Gitmo. The true outrage is the MSM’s and the Lib’s immediate acceptance of any harmful report or allegation irrespective of origin. That outrage may be second though to their willingness to broadcast such tripe irrespective of the aid and comfort it provides the enemy, damage it causes the US and additional danger broadcasting such crap poses for our deployed forces.

Supposedly, you are not allowed to question the patriotism of these people. If you do, you get tarred by a compliant MSM. Even if you point to their anti-American defense voting record Libs like John Kerry will whine, “I’m not going to let anyone question my patriotism.” Well, no one was. We question your judgment voting against every defense bill for 20 years. But what if they were unpatriotic? What if they do have a great loathing for the US as the world’s only super power? What if they do despise America for her military and economic might? How would what they are doing be any different?

Rush Limbaugh on his radio show and Ann Coulter in her book “Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism” ask this very question. If the MSM and Libs were treasonous bastards in cahoots with al Qaeda and determined to bring the US down a notch or two, what would they be doing and saying differently? The answer is, not much. If RC Durbin were anti-American, he’d take to the senate floor and accuse America of being like the Nazis, Soviets and the Khmer Rouge. The senate minority leader, instead of telling RC to shut up and sit down, would defend him and blame the vast right wing conspiracy for printing accurately what RC said. If they were anti-American dopes, they’d compare the president of the US to Hitler and call him a loser. When wrong doing is exposed by a small group in the military, they would paint everyone in the armed forces with the same broad brush. They would plaster the scandal all over the front page month after month. They’d ignore the fact that the military had been investigating and prosecuting the wrong doers for weeks before the story broke. They’d call for closing a facility built to protect Americans, a facility they know nothing about, only because they believe the closure will give them political advantage and embarrass the president and US on the world stage.

No, you can not call them traitors. But you can ask yourself, “What would they be doing differently if they were?” And the answer to that question sadly is – not much.

Apologize and change your excrement suit

Dick (And yes it is getting harder and harder not use the obvious yet descriptive but still vulgar compound word composed of his first name and the upper most portion of the human anatomy. A friend - a Marine friend no less - whose worse epitaph was a rare “Dang it!” once called a particularly incompetent yet continuously medaling senior officer an "RC." Like, “If that RC doesn’t quit sticking his nose in my business, my dang head’s going to explode.” “RC?” I puzzled. He says, “Yeah, RC, you know, Richard Cranium.” Always the obtuse one, I tilted my head like the RCA dog and walked a way. I was half way across the motor pool when I finally got it. I shouted back, “Wilson, there’s hope for you yet.” I just never thought that that particular vulgarity would ever cross this man’s mind - even twice removed as it was. So, if Wilson uses it, it can’t be vulgar and I may stoop to calling him RC.) Durbin, after burying himself in a heap of it, is now stepping from one pile of excrement to another.

Last Tuesday’s comparison of US forces to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot was the heap of excrement RC buried himself in. He got up, and without changing clothes or showering, decided he’d weigh in on US energy policy on Wed. He stated the country that completed the Manhattan project before the Germans in WWII could develop clean efficient energy sources. President Bush has proposed expanding the use of nuclear fuel. Does anyone seriously expect RC or any Democrat to support the president’s proposal?

Then by Wed. afternoon the stench of RC’s Tues. remarks had permeated the senate side of Capitol Hill and had wafted up Pennsylvania Ave. to the White House. Senators and White House spokesmen were calling RC’s remarks egregiously uninformed and obscene. Still wearing his excrement suit and with a fresh layer on one shoe from his dopey remarks about nuclear power, RC stuck the other foot into a fresh pile when he blamed the right wing media for making much ado about nothing. “Yes, yes, of course I said what I said no point in denying that – I would, but it’s on tape. But you evil Republicans and the media have taken my words and reported exactly what I said and that’s not fair. Beside Karl Rove implanted the same ‘say something stupid chip’ into my brain that he is using on Howard Dean, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry, Pat Leahy, Ted Kennedy – Oh, hell just about any Democrat that opens his/her mouth. It’s all the Republicans’ fault that the Democrats sound so anti-American.”

Fri., having last showered sometime on Mon., RC got up and put on the same excrement shirt and suit. He grabbed a gravy stained tie, lifted one arm and took a sniff, “Ahh, fresh as a daisy.” RC decided to end all of this controversy before the Sun. talk shows. Taking a fresh bucket of excrement to the senate floor he stood in it and issued the following statement, “My statement in the Senate was critical of the policies of this Administration, which add to the risk our soldiers face. I have learned from my statement that historical parallels can be misused and misunderstood. I sincerely regret if what I said caused anyone to misunderstand my true feelings: Our soldiers around the world and their families at home deserve our respect, admiration and total support.”

Translation, “When I say something incredibly stupid and anti-American, it’s up to the media and the American people to ignore my stupidity or report ‘my true feelings’ in a more favorable light. It’s up to you – the media and the American people – to make me look good no matter what I say.”

Remember, more people have died in the backseat of Teddy’s car than at Gitmo. RC is proof positive it is not yet safe to vote Democrat.

Investigate Ted kennedy for water torture

What is the connection between the numbers 9, 6, 2.7, 1 .7, 1 and 0?

9 MILLION - The total number of people that died in Hitler’s death camps.
6 MILLION - The number Jews killed in Hitler’s genocide.
2.7 MILLION - The number of persons who died in Stalin's gulag.
1.7 MILLION - The number of Cambodians who died under Pol Pot.
1 - The number of people who died by water torture in Ted Kennedy’s car.
0 - The number of people that have died in Gitmo

Given these numbers, one would think that Democrats would be railing against Ted Kennedy rather than George Bush. But Al Jazeera spokesman Dick Durbin, uneducated buffoon that he is, compares the actions of American soldiers, whom he claims to support, to the likes of Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot. Ted Kennedy has tortured and killed more innocent people in his car than all of the soldiers at Gitmo combined.

What do you call a terrorist that has no country, wears no uniforms and targets innocent civilians? Whatever you might call them you wouldn’t call them Prisoners of War. The US has taken to calling these terrorists “illegal enemy combatants.” The Geneva Conventions were designed to protect soldiers not terrorists. In principle, to be entitled to prisoner of war status, the captured service member must have conducted operations according to the laws and customs of war, been part of a chain of command, wear a uniform and bear arms openly. Now let’s pares this last passage as if were spoken by Bill Clinton and we have to find out what he really said.

The captured service member must have conducted operations according to the laws and customs of war. The laws and customs of war strictly prohibit the targeting of civilians. Civilians are the primary targets of terrorists. The law of land warfare prohibits the use of religious buildings and ambulances for military advantage. The terrorists use these facilities as warehouses and transport for arms and to fire on our troops knowing that we will not return fire until extraordinary measures are taken to clear the building.

The captured service member must have been part of a chain of command. Obviously there is a chain of command at the top of al Qaeda. But the rest of the organization appears to be nothing more than renegade cells answerable to nobody.

The captured service member must wear a uniform and bear arms openly. None wear a uniform. And few carry their weapons openly. To do so would be a death sentence. It is called asymmetric warfare. Terrorists have learned it is a fool’s mission to meet the US in open battle. So they wear no identifying uniform and hide their weapons until gunning down civilians in a market somewhere.

Gitmo is full of terrorists committed to killing us and ending our way of life. Conservatives want to treat them like the murdering terrorist bastards that they are. Libs want to treat them like some misguided youth that has run up one too many parking tickets. Conservatives want act as if we are at war with a diabolical and nefarious enemy by killing and detaining the creeps reeking havoc on our way of life. Libs want to act as if we are having a rash of j-walking violations down on campus and want to solve the problem by issuing more tickets hauling the perpetrators before Judge Judy.

Still more proof that it is not yet safe to vote for any Democrat.

Useful idiots

High a top the five star hotel in Tehran (which means it occasionally has running water), Osama bin Laden rests while hooked to a dialysis machine. Suddenly the door bursts open and in rushes Ayman al Zawahiri with a DVD in hand. “You gotta see this!” gushes Zawahiri. “What?” OBL responds. Quickly, Dr. Z fumbles with the DVD player. After fifteen minutes of trying a ten year old house boy is summonsed to get the thing to play and set the clock so it won’t continually flash 12:00.

As the TV comes to life there is Dick Durbin comparing US troops to Nazis, Soviets who ran the gulag and Pol Pot. OBL is laughing out loud, “You gotta be defecating me. Is this guy really railing against his own troops on floor of the US senate? I thought the infidel Democrats were like infidel Republicans in that they all supported the troops.” Dr. Z responds, “They only pretend to be. The closer to elections the more they pretend. But wait there’s more.”

Nancy Pelosi comes on the screen prattling on about Gitmo and says something about closing Gitmo giving the US "a clean slate in the Muslim world." OBL laughs so hard one of the hoses comes lose on the dialysis machine. “Is she nuts? Gitmo’s got nothing whatever to do with it. It didn’t when we blew them up in their embassies. It didn’t when we blew them up on their war ship. It didn’t when we crashed four of their planes into buildings and a field. And what in Allah’s name is wrong with her face? Did someone use a staple gun to get her eyebrows arched like that and her eyes so permanently wide open?” Dr. Z notes, “No it’s a thing called botox. It’s supposed to make you look young but usually ends up making you look dopey. These are the representatives of the party of appeasement in the US. They’d rather lose the war as long as pig-dog Bush is in office than let him have victory. So they undermine his every effort in squashing us.” OBL quizzes, “So, they are on our side?” “No, not really, they are what the Soviets referred to as ‘useful idiots.’ They just what to lose as long as Bush is in charge. You might say their Bush hatred trumps their love of country.”

Next come Pat Leahy followed by Howard Dean followed by John McCain et al until Dr. Z has to turn off the TV to keep OBL from hurting himself from laughing too much. OBL sighs between chuckles, “Just when I thought we were getting our butts kicked good, these guys come and cheer me up. I’d almost thought of quitting. But now I think if we can kill a few more, Thomas L. Friedman will call it a quagmire then our modern day Jane Fondas will demand the US quit the war. Dr. Z, let’s celebrate, another bubble pipe and some goat’s eye stew please.”

Modern day Jane Fondas

Sen. John McCain and other Libs are in a hissy fit over Guantanamo Bay. Sen. McCain has called for trying the detainees in the can there in US courts. Hmm. That’s odd. Yea right, good idea, the terrorists would love going to trial in a court system that couldn’t find OJ guilty of murder. No doubt Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Pat Leahy, and Joe Biden et al would line up to testify for the defense. Since when do we try POWs? I thought that POWs were supposed to be immune from trial. During the first Gulf War we had hundreds of thousands of POWs. I don’t know that a single one got a trial. They were thrown into compounds fed and clothed. After the war they were repatriated. Who got trials after WWII? War criminals, that’s who. Today, the war criminals are in jail in Iraq and will be tried there. Now I know that we don’t call these particular creeps POWs but rather combatant detainees. But isn’t that one of the cries of the blame America first crowd – give the creeps the rights of POWs under the Geneva Conventions?

In keeping with the Lib mantra, “we support the troops” Dick Durbin took to floor of the US Senate to liken US troops to “Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime--Pol Pot” – but, did I mention, we support our troops. When asked to apologize Dick said it was the Bush administration that should apologize – I suppose for keeping creeps locked up and as miserable – which isn’t really miserable at all - as today’s PC world will allow.

Pat Leahy and Joe Biden are all over every TV opportunity talking about what a disgrace Gitmo is. What’s really a disgrace is the opposition party using every opportunity real and imagined to bash the US and in doing putting our troops – whom they supposedly support – at further risk. These people are nothing more than modern day Jane Fondas (MDJFs) giving aid and comfort to the enemy. When the BS policy of Affirmative Action faced extinction, Libs said “mend it don’t end it.” Now because a bunch of anti-American dopes say we are being mean to terrorists the MDJFs say “just close it down.” Notice, they don’t say mend it. They say end it.

All of this continues to demonstrate why it is not yet safe to vote for a Democrat or a certain RINO Sen. from AZ.

On a happier note, Pat DeWine son of McCain wannabe and OH Sen. Mike DeWine took a heinous butt kicking in a primary on Tues for Ohio’s 2nd District Congressional seat. Once considered the favorite, Pat finished 4th after daddy stuck a knife in Bill Frist’s back on the filibuster. Hopefully a conservative Buckeye Pol will surface to send Pat’s daddy packing in ’06 as well. All that really needs to be said is, “I am a conservative and I’ll act like one when I get to DC.” If that happens, Georgie “I’ll cry if I want to” Voinovich will announce he wants to “spend more time with his family” which is Pol speak for I know I can’t win.

Closing Gitmo will add to the problem

In a political career spent making idiotic statements, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi may have once and for all proven what a colossal dolt she really is when she opined that closing Gitmo would give the US "a clean slate in the Muslim world." This is the Democrat leader in the House for Heaven’s sake. And yes Pollyanna when it’s all closed down we can hop in our Glad Machine and eat chocolate cake and ice cream for the rest of lives. How can a leader of the party that claims GWB is a dope, be so miserably misinformed and naive? And why doesn’t some Democrat tell her that until she talks, most people just think she’s an idiot. When she talks, she removes any doubt.

Where is some “moderate” Democrat to say, “Nancy Pelosi is so ignorant about so much that it’s an embarrassment. We have been in a low grade war with fanatical Muslims since the Barbary Pirates were hijacking and ransoming our ships and sailors in the Mediterranean during the 1700s. That practice only ended when President Jefferson sent the Marines to Tripoli. Terrorists Muslims began hijacking and ransoming airliners long before they flew them into buildings. Muslim wackos bombed night clubs, busses and shopping centers, murdered Olympians, women and children without the least regard. There was a brief relief when President Reagan bombed Qadaffi in Tripoli. If Leader Pelosi knew as much about our history with terrorist Muslims as she did about botox she would know that closing Gitmo is not going to have least bit of effect on these people. To say that it will only proves that she is a total ignoramus, and once again proves why it isn’t yet safe to vote for any Democrat. These “people” hated us long before the prison at Gitmo ever existed and if we close it they will use Leader Pelosi’s words as propaganda against us – hell Leader Pelosi will use the closure as propaganda against us. Further if she really believed the nonsense that comes out of her mouth with regard to Gitmo she’d have volunteered to build a new al Qaeda prison in her own neighborhood. As Presidents Jefferson and Reagan - and now Bush - have demonstrated, there is only one way to deal with these people, kill them or lock them up.”

Hope for the brainless - AKA Libs

This just in, scientists researching the power of stem cells claim to have grown brain cells in a laboratory for the first time. Scientists claim that the research promises to open the door to cures for debilitating brain diseases such as Parkinson's, epilepsy, Alzheimer's and liberalism. The lead researcher, Dr. Erwin Corey, noted, “It is ambiguously clear that our penetrateable intellectualosity has now given new antiseptics and great expatriatation to a whole group people thought to have no defectable brain activity. This group known as Democrats and laterals, now may be able grope the brain they here to forefather have been forced survey without. It is inheritive that we mitigate our studyhall as soon as palpable to help this disparageable group of human Boeings.” Dr.'s Frankenstein and Mengala were unavailable for comment.

Yet, how could this breakthrough have occurred? The president has not yet signed off on the bill allowing full scale, full funding for stem cell research. No government money but research goes on? How can that be? Expect more and more of these stories as stem cell legislation winds its way through congress. Then keep asking yourself, well if the private sector is doing so well, why let the government screw it up?

Gitmo is no Gulag

Sometimes we use words without really knowing what they mean. That seems to be the case with Amnesty International’s report calling Gitmo the “Gulag of our time.” Gulag is a Russian acronym used to describe forced labor camps in the former Soviet Union. After the “Great Revolution” in 1918, forced labor camp detention facilities were set up and operated in Siberia as a part of penal system. Prison populations in the Gulag varied widely from a low of about 200,000 in 1932 to about 1.6 million in 1939. During World War II, Gulag populations declined sharply, but only because the Soviets needed every man to support the war effort. After WWII the number of inmates in prison camps and colonies predictably rose again sharply and reached approximately 2.5 million people by the early 1950s. Here’s where it gets really interesting, the total number of documentable deaths in the Soviet Gulag from 1918-1956 is over two million!

Extreme production quotas, brutality, hunger and harsh elements were major reasons for the Gulag's high fatality rate, which was as high as 80% during the first months in many camps. Logging and mining were among the most common of activities, as well as the harshest. In a Gulag mine, one person's production quota might be as high as 29,000 pounds of ore per day. Failure to meet a quota resulted in a loss of vital rations, a cycle that usually had fatal consequences.

Now, compare a real Gulag to what is going on at Gitmo. First there is no forced labor or starvation, save the self inflicted hunger strike, often the first time some of these prisoners have ever seen a doctor, had a pair of eyeglasses or visited a dentist is in Gitmo courtesy of the US tax payer. Oliver North notes, “Upon arrival at Camp Delta, detainees are issued a blanket, a sheet, two orange ‘jumpsuits,’ flipflops, a foam sleeping pad, two bath towels, a washcloth, toothpaste, soap, shampoo, a prayer rug, and a Koran. They are allowed two 15-minute showers per week; they get recreation time and three culturally sensitive meals daily. Schedules are respectful of Islamic traditions, prayer calls are broadcast five times a day and arrows painted on the floors point to Mecca. Their regular quarters include a flushing toilet, running water and an off-the-floor bed. Detainees who ask for them are provided soccer balls, playing cards, chessboards and paperback books.”

Whatever Gitmo is, it is no Gulag. In fact refereeing to it as one does a great disservice to those who have perished or survived a real Gulag. It’s sort of like referring to civilian casualties in Iraq, most of which are caused by terrorists, as the Holocaust of time or referring to President Bush as the Hitler of time – comparisons which wacky Libs make from time to time. Such comparisons are absurd. They cheapen the sacrifices of the real people that lived through the real events and serve as proof positive that the public school system has failed to teach history.

Predictably, dopey Democrats, Joey Boy Biden, Chuck Rangel et al are shouting for the closure of Gitmo. Just as predictable, they offer no ideas for what ought to be done with the murdering bastards incarcerated there. Well, I think we ought to take the worst of the worst and move them in with Joey Boy and Chucky. I’d love to hear Bush say, “Well, Joey and Chucky I’m taking your advice. I’m shutting Gitmo down. Now we have these 30 murdering bastards that were Usama’s body guards. How many of these guys are you two willing to take until we can figure out the politically correct thing to do with these creeps?”

Stem cell research a further assault on life

In the post below Lex discusses his epiphany with regard to abortion. Simply stated, if you work backward from a birth, it becomes impossible to determine the exact day, minute and second that a baby is not a baby. Faced with stem cell research issue, I believe that President Bush is faced with the same question – when does life begin? – and working backward from birth has arrived at the conclusion that it begins at conception.

Here are a few facts about this debate that Libs are sure to ignore:

1) President Bush is the first president ever to provide federal funding for stem cell research. Libs response to the president’s initiative is as predictable as the sunrise. We’re not spending enough. We need more and more money for more and more bureaucracy.

2) There is no restriction of stem cell research by private research companies. The fat cat, big shot actors and others screaming for more federal money for stem cell research are free contribute until it hurts to private companies doing this type of research. They are free to start a foundation and people across America who agree with them are free to give as much money as they want for their effort. Private investment and research would also be the most effective path for the people who believe in this type of research. When the human genome was being researched, the private company engaged in “cracking the code” so far outpaced the government’s effort that in a Big Government face saving move President Clinton forced the government project to cooperate with the private effort so that government could share in the success.

3) The most promising medical advances in this type of research come from adult stem cells and embryo stem cells that come from umbilical cord blood – neither of which requires the destruction of an embryo. Contrary to John “Pretty BOY” Edwards, Christopher Reeves would not have walked were John Kerry president. There is no silver bullet solution for medical problems within sight based on stem cell research. To the extent that there is refer to point two.

4) “Unused” frozen embryos are regularly used to create, guess what, babies for other couples having pregnancy difficulties. They are called snowflake babies. Libs will use the mantra “They are going to be discarded anyway.” Well maybe what we really need is law prohibiting the destruction of these embryos.

Humans are going to tinker. Stem cell research is going to be done. But the government ought not to be in the business of funding a type of research that were it done by the Nazis those responsible for it would have been hung for crimes against humanity.

Change

I used to think that NASCAR was dumb. A bunch of guys making left hand turns and after driving 180 miles per hour for 500 miles ending up right where they started. Then there were the race interviews, “Joe, what happened out there?” “Boy howdy that GM Monte Carlo, Hardees, Pepsi Cola, Oreo, Simonize Wax Chevy was runnin like little Billy Williams when he seen his pa a cumin after him with a three foot hickory switch after he throwed a pack of farcrackers up under the widder Johnson’s porch swing while she was a nappin on it. And it ended pretty much the same way. Billy ain’t throwd no more farcrackers and we ain’t doin no more racin today. She was a runnin like a scalded ape on them four Goodyear tars and them 22 gallons of premium Union 76 gas. Everything was goin great until ol’ Ironhead Lappy’s motor broke a dumpin them 20 quarts of Penzol’ down in the Burger King turn four. Then Fatback Lipton hit that ol’, blowed a tar and slud up the track like three kids a racin down Farmer Mac’s hill on brand new Flexible Flars after a good snow. He smacked that Sac-Crete concrete wall like Thelma Lou whacked ol’ Billy Bob when she caught him with Betty Jones back behind the Dairy Queen one Saturday night and balled the whole thing up. He give us all one thumpin headache and send us lookin for the Goody’s Headache powder. Weel heck, that’s racin. Wi’ll be back next week at the Sears Auto Parts 500.” Then I went to a race and have been hooked ever since.

I used to plan Saturdays and Sundays around the football TV schedule. I don’t anymore. I used to think 50 was old. Now I almost am. And it’s not. I used to wonder how anyone could listen to country music. Now I prefer it. I used to think that jumping off of the high rock at Rock Mill into the freezing water below was cool. Now it’s insane. I used to think that anyone who rolled their luggage through an airport was old or weak. Now anyone who doesn’t is either stupid or has a broken wheel. I used to love Coca Cola. Now it’s too sweet. I used to run 3-8 miles 6 days a week, as fast as could. Now I jog a couple of miles 3 days a week and often end up walking. I used to dislike cats. Now they’re cool. The point is, as you might have guessed by now, over the years I’ve changed or life has changed me.

I used to think that abortion was like trimming a toe nail. It was nothing more than removing a blob of unwanted cells. Then along came Danny. I watched Ms. Lex grow day by day until the day Danny entered the world and, the blob of cells myth was shattered. If I worked backward from Danny’s birth, at what point, what day, minute and second was Danny not Danny but a blob of cells a kin to a toe nail? Well, I could not answer, reconcile or rationalize that question away.

In a world where we throw everything away to include phones and cameras, I can still understand a young girl thinking of abortion as a way out of a life altering jam. I understand a young poor couple who think of abortion as a way out of bringing another child to an already overcrowded dinner table. I understand parents who find out that their child is deformed thinking it best for everyone to abort the baby.

I don’t understand pulling a full-term baby, feet first from the womb and sucking its brains out. I don’t understand why the federal government is involved in the issue at all. I don’t understand why you cannot be a pro-life Democrat. I don’t understand why everyone can’t agree that every abortion is a tragedy - to the baby for sure but also for the mother’s own physical and mental health. I don’t understand how the Libs on the one hand can say we may be destroying a chance for a cure for AIDS by lumber policies in the rainforest (aka jungle), but on the other advocate the wholesale destruction human life which is our real best hope for solving our problems. Too long – stem cells tomorrow.

Some gave all

In the Memorial Day piece posted below, Lex wondered where America got its long deep unbroken line of heroes. The Griffin sheds some light:

The Griffin sends:
Today is Denise's birthday. She was born 6/6/62. D-day has a double meaning for me. My mother had three brothers that went ashore at Normandy on June 6th and 7th. Within one week all three were causalities. Uncle Farrell Davisson was dead and Uncle Bob Davisson and Uncle Wade Davisson were wounded.

A couple of years ago at a family reunion Uncle Bob told the story that had until that time been family gossip and guess. We were told not to bring it up as children but I wanted to know what happened. Farrell was killed in a hedgerow attacking a German machine gun emplacement. Bob was bayoneted in the right hip and shot. As the German was trying to pull the bayonet out of uncle Bob's right hip Bob killed the German with a rifle shot. Wade was running across the beach and was shot in the left calf and foot.

In the late 1960's Wade had his left leg amputated below the knee. The circulation never was good after his wounding. Uncle Wade never complained. He started a radio repair shop which became a TV repair shop where worked everyday until a stroke took him in 1978.

Bob still has a farm he works and has since he returned from the war. His story is even more interesting. He was bayoneted just after dusk on D-day as he and his buddies were looking to find a place for the night. They found a barn and were checking it out. As he stepped around a corner he was stuck by the German which he then shot. His buddies separated the rifle from the bayonet but it remained in his hip for 5 days as they were afraid to remove it. Uncle Bob still walks with a limp.

That same night at the barn they were counter attacked through the night. He said he would load and return fire until he would pass out. Then he would wake up and do it again. This went on all night. He was shot in the left forearm. The next day there was fighting all around the barn. He said everyone was wounded and they were out of ammo. They sent a runner but Uncle Bob never knew what happened to him. He said everyone was wounded and out of wraps, medicine, etc. He said he woke up and other American troops had rushed in and the doc's started treating them. He had been there the night of the 6th, all day the 7th, and left the barn the morning of the 8th. The next time he woke up he was being put on a transport ship headed back to England. He still had the bayonet lodged in his hip joint.

My mom was born in 1937 and said she remembered that my grandmother would "shush" the room when listening to the radio war reports. Mom said my grandmother called it "Mr. Roosevelt’s War", and just despised him. My Grandpa did not talk about it because he said it upset my Grandma and Uncle Bob would get moody. Uncle Farrell was their oldest child and my mom the youngest of the nine. A few years later my Uncle Gail was wounded in Korea.

My uncle Denzil Davisson never served but three of his sons (my first cousins) were wounded in Vietnam. He had four sons serve in Vietnam. My cousins Steve, Dwight, and Maynard were wounded but Bucky was not. Steve was wounded at Da Nang as a marine machine gunner. Dwight rec'd mortar fragments and Maynard was wounded in a helicopter crash.

I have a book called "The Settling of the Ten Mile Creek" that mygrandmother gave me in 1986, the year she died. The Davisson history is in the book. Our family history in the book gives names and dates of Davissons that have been in every major conflict since before the Revolutionary War. In Clarksburg, WVa there is a cemetery called the "Nathaniel DavissonCemetery for Sons of the American Revolution". I will take a digital photo and send it the next time I am in Clarksburg. My mothers' side of the family rarely talks about their service time. They would rather talk about tractors, hunting dogs, trucks, or farm machines.

It seems strange to have ice cream and cake on the anniversary of D-day which happens to my wife's birthday. Mom just likes it that the family gets together for some event, any event. She usually has more fun than anyone else. Getting the family together means a lot to her.

Fanning anti-Americanism trumps truth

This is an absolute must read for anyone concerned about the Koran abuse stories coming out of Gitmo. Yes there is abuse of the book which refers to Jews as pigs and apes. But the kicker is that most of the abuse is being perpetrated by the whackos who use this very book to justify their mass murder of innocent people, which this particular book explains aren’t really innocent because they don’t believe in the book and even if they are say a faithful Muslim child who happens to be blown up in a Baghdad school yard well that’s just too bad. Jihad and religious zealotry are a messy business. It makes no sense on any level – except to al Qaida’s propaganda arm - America’s own MSM. Al Qaida, what ever else you think of them, are smart dudes. They use our own planes to kill thousands of us and now they are using our own MSM to undermine our nation’s effort to root the murdering bastards out. Brilliant but sadly, it was predictable.

Now Joey Boy Biden, who obviously hasn’t read Gen Hood’s report because he’s been too busy scanning old British Labor party speeches for something he can rip off, says we ought to just shut Gitmo down. Well there you go. And no doubt if Osama bin Laden complained that his Koran got dusty from all of the US bombing in Tora Bora, Joey Boy would no doubt call for a more “sensitive” pursuit of Osama. The world is not yet a safe enough place to take Democrats seriously.

Then there is the infamous “Piss Christ”, and elephant dung Madonna supported by your tax dollars. The Democrats and MSM were all for the desecration of religious artifacts, even government support, as long as those artifacts happened to be Christian. Now these same phony baloney dolts feign outrage at defiling of the Koran. If Muslims by-and-large supported America and President Bush the press would be ignoring this story or encouraging the desecration as a means to undermine a religious movement supportive of America and the president – sort of like they do with Evangelic Christians. But because these Muslims are an excitable anti-American lot, America’s anti-America, anti-Bush press not only won’t let the story go, they don’t even report the truth.

They are all "our boys"

61 years ago today our boys hit the beaches at Normandy, France. That day was marked by hundreds upon hundreds of untold acts of heroism and sacrifice. The press was there to report on the heroism and sacrifice of our boys. The press told the story of our boys at Pointe Du Hoc. That was where our Rangers scaled steep cliffs to take out Nazi guns trained on the landing beaches. The press told an eager nation of the “matchbox fleet” and places given odd names like, Sword, Juno and Omaha Beach. Soon after the invasion had begun the press reported the truth that our boys had begun delivering the light of liberty to a European continent which had laid in darkness for four long years. The press continued to report on our boys’ victorious march across Europe.

Today, our boys are performing with equal heroism and sacrifice. Today our boys are delivering the light of liberty to another continent which has long lived in the darkness of the shadows of political and religious tyrants. Today our boys are fighting and winning an historic struggle as important as the one that took place 61 years ago.

But today there is no “our boys” for the American press. The American press is so mired in an anti-Americanism spawned from some odd confluence of moral superiority, moral relativism, globalism and Bush hatred that our boys can only make the headlines if they shoot a couple of murdering terrorist in the heat of battle or fail to treat captured murderers with the most tender of kid gloves. The American press joins in with Al Jazeera in trumpeting only propaganda that will embarrass and further endanger our boys as they go about doing their already dangerous work.

ABC signs off Nightline reading the names of the dead when they could be reading one of the hundreds of citations awarded to our boys for their valor. Newsweak dwells on an unsubstantiated rumor about Koran desecration while ignoring the hero’s work being done by our boys in Gitmo. The American press cannot bring itself to relate to “our boys” as “their boys” – and for that, they can go to hell.

Quick Hits

Over Memorial Day a thought struck me. What did the loud mouth little weasel Bill Maher have to say about American servicemen? You remember smug little Bill - the little weasel that said al Quaida’s 9-11 mass murderers who flew airliners into the ground and famous buildings had more courage than Americans who flew airplanes into battle. Well what did we have to say about the courage of the American fighting men in Fallujha? Did little Bill have any problem with the courage on display there and in scores of other Iraqi cities?

I was driving along half-listening to my wife read Henny Penny to the kids – yea I know, libs who drive along while talking on their cells, checking stock numbers on their Blackberries and sipping double soy lattes will be appalled at my lack of attention. But that’s kind of the point. Henny Penny is the ideal lib. She runs around sounding the alarm for every emergency, real and imagined and ends up getting everybody but herself in trouble. “The earth is cooling! The next ice age is upon us!!” shouted Henny Lib during my school daze. Now Lex Jr. hears Henny Lib shouting, “The earth is warming! Oh! The Humanity!!” Henny Lib is willing to do anything but give up the 50 room mansions – two for each climate, the fleet of limos and the wing of G-5 aircraft to “make a difference.” Henny Lib rails against the Second Amendment, all the while surrounding herself with gun toting bodyguards. Just like Henny Penny, Henny Lib ends up at home safe and sound while leading her friends to destruction with her senseless hand wringing. Henny Lib expects everyone to lead the miserable life that she directs so that she can feel better about herself living in splendor.

Well there really is a Deep Throat. I have always thought that he was a figment of Woodward and Bernstein’s imagination. I thought DT was sort of like Dan Rather’s phony documents, or Newsweak’s Koran story – nothing more than a means to an end that the reporter believed to be true but just can’t prove. So they make up some “unnamed source” or phony documents to fill in the gaps. Well who’s to say this is the real DT?

Michael Jackson’s trial is almost over – thank God. Who knows and who cares what the outcome will be? We all knew Michael wasn’t right a long time ago. What kind of parent would allow their child to spend unsupervised time with a guy, irrespective of his considerable fame and talent, as just plain weird as Jackson?
