Qana demonstrates limits of air power

Israel is learning how difficult it is to fight an insurgent force that hides among civilians, wears civilian clothing and use the population and the UN as a shield when confronted by the IDF. Trying to root such a force out using well trained and well disciplined ground forces is tough. Trying to do it with air power alone is impossible. Fighting the conventional armies in Syria and Iran would be a better use of Israeli air power.

Something is not right about what happened in Qana. Israel strikes a building at midnight and at 8 am that building collapses. Why didn’t the people get out during the intervening 7-8 hours? Better question; why didn’t they get out when Israel warned them to when fighting first broke out?

When the truth about Qana is known, I think we will find that the brave Hezbollah fighters are now target their own people and blaming Israel. In the short run, with the help of the MSM, Hezbollah seems to be getting the upper hand in the propaganda war. But such is sure to be the case in weasel Europe where governments there are predisposed to blame any bad thing happening in the Middle Eats on the Jews. After all, many of these governments have a militant Muslim population of their own that must be appeased.

Then Kofi Annan goes to the Security Council and acts as if he has had some great revelation when he announces that killing innocent civilians is a bad thing. That’s the kind of insightful leadership the world longs for from its world political body. Were Kofi not mired in relativism and equivalency, he’d stop with you’re both equally guilty except Israel is more so talk and roll in on the terrorists that started all of this. Even as Israel suspends its air campaign, Hezbollah continues to fire hundreds of missiles into Israel.

An Inconvenient Lie

The following will appear in the Ft. Wayne News-Sentinal next week in response to letter published from a High School scinece teacher touting Al Gore's movie. And people wonder why we chose to send young Lex to a Catholic school.

An Inconvenient Lie

It’s a bit odd that an article would appear on this page in support of Al Gore’s error laden movie “An Inconvenient Truth.” It’s Odd in part because the movie was so thoroughly debunked months ago (do a web search using “An Inconvenient Lie” as search criteria). Odder yet because the article touting the overreaching frenzied flick was penned by a High School science teacher relying on, among other things, anecdotal evidence from her visit to Glacier National Park.

I once visited San Francisco in the summer and nearly froze at Coit Tower. However, I didn’t use my visit as a scientific method for concluding that were headed toward another ice age - although I do recall a know-it-all public schoolteacher in the early 70s telling us that we were.

In fact in 1976 author Lowell Ponte in his book “The Cooling” confidently predicted, "It is a cold fact: the global cooling presents humandkind with the most important social, political, and adaptive challenege we have had to deal with for ten thousand years" foreward (page xvi). The emphasis belongs to the hysterical author. The book, for obvious reasons, is no longer in print.

The writer of the doom and gloom editorial would have us believe that anyone who dare disagree with Mr. Gore is doing so for “either political or personal and economic gain.” She writes this, no doubt, with a straight face forgetting Al Gore was a Democrat, congressman, senator, vice president and presidential candidate and stands to make millions off of the movie and book. There can’t be any political or economic agenda in all of that now can there.

And if you like, or don’t like this version of Al Gore, go back to 1976 when he was running around as a pro-life, pro-business Democrat from Tenessee’s fourth district, dumping those deeply held beliefes only when they became an inconveient impediment to higher office.

But hey, I’m not a scientist. I don’t even foist my personal experiences off as science experiments, but here is just one of hundreds of opinions about Al Gore’s movie from the science community.

Professor Bob Carter, of the Marine Geophysical Laboratory at James Cook University in Australia, on Gore's film as quoted in the Canadian Free Press, June 12, 2006:

"Gore's circumstantial arguments are so weak that they are pathetic. It is simply incredible that they, and his film, are commanding public attention.

"The man is an embarrassment to US science and its many fine practitioners, a lot of whom know (but feel unable to state publicly) that his propaganda crusade is mostly based on junk science."

Then there’s the bogus “there are more and more powerful hurricanes due to global warming” argument. Max Mayfield director of the National Hurricane Center said this on CBS’s Face Nation last year:

“Bob, hurricanes, and especially major hurricanes, are cyclical…We had a lot of major hurricanes in the fifties and sixties, not nearly as many in the seventies, eighties, and early nineties, and then in 1995, they really picked up again…So, I think that this activity that we're in can be explained without invoking global warming…”

So if you’re headed to Northrop High School in the fall, go ahead and plan for a full school year. The Earth is unlikely to turn into a cinder under your feet before the spring graduation. Oh yeah, bring a backpack load of skepticism to your “science” class.

Apparently, Koffi's a fool

When confronted with his irresponsible statement that Israel deliberately bombed a UN outpost, Koffi Annan protested that he said “apparently deliberately” bombed the UN outpost. So if you put the word “apparently” in front any slander it becomes OK. That’s good to know.

Apparently, Koffi ought to wake up and get it through the apparent vacuum which sits atop is thin neck that terrorism needs to be dealt with. Excusing Hezbollah for using the UN outpost as cover from which to launch missiles into Israel and then blaming the Israelis for defending themselves is apparently very stupid position to take.

On a different subject, apparently, Saddam, if convicted, wants to be shot instead of hung. Fine, hang him and then shoot his dead worthless carcass. Or better yet, let surviving women of his terror have him for an hour. Then hang and shoot whatever is left of him.

Condi's real mission in the Middle East

What is Codi up to? Is she in the Middle East trying to achieve a ceasefire or is she telling the diplomatic world that the US is quite happy to have Israel wipe out terror groups in its backyard. Hopefully it is the later. The MSM, no doubt will paint the president as “unengaged” if Condi’s visit doesn’t produce an immediate ceasefire. An immediate cease fire in no way supports America’s war on terror or long-term US interests in the region. So why send Condi?

Well perhaps Condi’s real mission is to let the “leadership” in region know that the US supports Israel and a new paradigm in Lebanon - a paradigm that doesn’t include Syrian and Iranian meddling there. If Condi’s mission was to inform the region that the US would not reign in the Israelis until Hezbollah is a shadow of its former self and to get used to the idea of a new, free and democratic Lebanon that would be a huge success. But sans a ceasefire, the MSM will declare the trip an utter failure no matter how far long-term US interests in the region and the war on terror are advanced.

Meanwhile, like a babe in the woods, Koffi Annan continues to cry for an immediate ceasefire – from both sides. That smacks of the moral equivalency we’ve grown way too accustomed to. I shoot hundreds of missiles into your backyard and kidnap your children, so you bust down my door to get your kids back and the police show up and tell us both to go home and stop fighting.

Koffi ought to be pressuring Hezbollah and the Palestinians for the immediate and unconditional release of Israel’s citizens. Unfortunately, the best hope for the US is to hope that Hezbollah remains too foolish to let the soldiers go so that Israel can continue to pound them to dust for a few more weeks.

Koffi managed to step up pressure on Israel by saying the Israelis deliberately targeted a UN outpost yesterday. That is an absurd comment and is just one many indications how little this little man knows about warfare. I’ll tell you what was deliberate, UN “peacekeepers” raping African refugees, UN officials up to and including Koffi stealing money from the oil for food program, and way too many more scandles to cover here.

But wait there’s more. The leader of our other great ally in the region President Maliki of Iraq is due to address congress this morning. Democrats are boycotting Maliki’s speech because he has not come down sufficiently hard on Hezbollah. Fine, a moment of moral clarity in party heretofore devoid of any should be applauded. If Maliki wanted to get the Democrats back on board he should take to podium in the Capitol Building and blame the whole mess on Bush. You know if bush had talked to Yassar Arafat, if Bush would have condemned Israel early on for trying secure its border with a wall, if Bush insisted on an end to the Israeli occupation of Gaza and Lebanon – oops Israel end its occupation of Lebanon years ago and pulled out of Palestinian territory as well. Hmmm, well anyway, if Maliki would just blame it all on George Bush, Chuck Schumer, ever the political oppotunist and showboat, would be knocking people over to get the microphone to praise Maliki.

If he only had brain

John Kerry said that if he were president there wouldn’t be a war in the Middle East today. A few other Kerry ifs:
If I were Ricky Bobby, I’d be leading the Nextel Cup.
If I played corner for USC, there is no way Vince Young scores late in the championship game.
If I were Lord Vader, there’s no way we lose to a rag tag bunch of Jedi’s.
If I stayed in Vietnam for my full tour of duty, there’s no way we loose.
If I had a brain, there’s no way I keep talking.

And so goes the Democrat strategy. “We need a new beginning.” “It’s time for a change.” “Had enough?” What is striking about the Democrat strategy is how little they say about what they intend to do or in Kerry’s case what he would have done. Dems are happy to go on TV and say Bush is evil incarnate without ever offering a single idea to advance America’s interests at home or abroad.

It’s easy to sit around at the coffee shop on Saturday morning and point out that the local high school team lost a close game. Then when asked what you might have done to avoid the loss say something brilliant like, “if I were the coach, we would have scored more points.” How? You finish your coffee and walk out. The boys at the coffee shop nod knowingly and think, there goes our next coach. Democrats have the exact same strategy.

No substance. No big ideas. If Americans return Democrats to power in Nov, we deserve Democrat solutions to our problems. Cut and run in Iraq and the greater Middle East, raise taxes and open the borders at home.

Too funny even for Libs

As enviro terrorists – same as Islamo-terror-fascists in that they would like to turn the clock back a few hundred years – block drilling off of the US cost and in Alaska forcing us to use Middle East oil which funds the very terrorists we are fighting, Cuba is drilling 60 miles off the Florida cost. To make matters worse Fidel’s boys are getting help from our good friends China, Canada and Spain. As gas tops $3 a gallon dopes in the US congress continue to block our ability to develop our own resources.

Soon a sane energy policy may eclipse immigration and the war on terror as a mid-term issue. Pols will be forced to make decisions on the very hard issues facing the nation. I look for some bright new pol to start printing t-shirts: Joe Blow will win the war, boot illegals, lower taxes and drill for oil. Joe Blow will win in a landslide in most districts. But pols are dopey people who think the only way to win an election is to make everyone happy. Well that’s crazy. The way to win an election is to make 51% of the people happy.

Dems prefer stable dictators to freedom

Democrats and other domestic nuts are claiming that it is Bush’s Middle East policies or lack there of that are creating all of the “instability” there. You know the stability that Saddam brought to Iraq by killing everyone who crossed him or had the wrong last name. The stability that the Taliban brought to Afghanistan with Al Qaida help was undeniable. The country was very stable. The stability in Gaza under Yasser Arafat is as undeniable as the billions of aid dollars he siphoned off. Lebanon under Syrian control was a so stable Hezbollah could operate in the south with impunity. Then along came that damn cowboy hat wearing Bush and destabilized everything.

Now there are fledgling democracies in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon and even Gaza. What an idiot. Couldn’t he have just left tyranny, oops I mean, “good enough” alone. Why not have Yasser into the White House to talk peace? Why destabilize all of Afghanistan because of a few thousand American deaths. What was the problem with Iraq under Saddam other than rape rooms, mass graves, financing of terror cells in Gaza, shooting at US war planes enforcing a no-fly zone that he had agreed to, thumbing his nose at 18 or so UN resolutions, and yes continuing a WMD program? Now Bush’s refusal to reign in Israel as it deals Iranian and Syrian surrogates in Lebanon and Gaza another heinous arss whipping is causing even more instability.

Can’t we just return to the status quo-anti were Hezbollah and Hamas fire a few hundred or so Syrian and Iranian supplied rockets a year into Israel from the sanctuary of southern Lebanon and Gaza? Isn’t that stability what the Middle East needs right now? Well I hope and pray that Bush gives Israel the green light to go after the real troublemakers and destabilizers in all of this - Syria and Iran. That of course will desbilize those two terror supporting countries. All while droning on about peace and “stability” of course.

Kill the sponsors and the surrogates will die on the vine

While the Israeli Defense Force uses F-16s to chase Islamo-terror-fascists who fire man-packed missiles willy nilly into Israel’s civilian population on behalf of the “religion of peace”, Basshar Assad and the nut case that runs Iran sit back with a hookah pipe and chuckle at the chaos that they have created. How can Israeli better respond to the state sponsored terror being visited upon them?

Small war experts know that using conventional forces to chase down a small group terrorists who move among the larger population with the support of that population, is a fool’s game. The Lebanese government seem unable to control Hezbollah, even if it wanted to. We know that Hezbollah is not making the weapons that they fire into Israel. They are getting them from Syria and Iran. While it is difficult wage war on terrorists with conventional forces, it would be a comparatively simple matter to wage a conventional war on Syria. Iran is tougher nut to crack, but let’s face it, we’re going to have to do it sooner or later.

So let’s get on with it. President Bush has made the case any state that supports a terrorist is a terrorist state. Syria and Iran are terrorist states waging a terror war against Israel. Let’s make them feel some of the pain of that war. We should start with Syria. Crush them. Kill Assad. Then tell Iran “you’re next” if there is not an immediate change in your policies starting with UN nuke inspectors.

It would be great if we “could all just get along” but reality bites. It’s time to take the war to the sponsors that have created this mess and let the surrogates die on the vine.

Cry babies for Bolton

Crybaby Sen. George Voinovich (OH-MF-no not that, MF = Moderate Fool) explains in a Washington Post op-ed why he will vote to confirm U.N. ambassador John Bolton. A weeping Voinovich and hysterical Dems laughing out loud at a weak-kneed supposed ally of the president’s were the main reasons why Bolton could not be confirmed during his first hearing. Well better late than never George. Now if you can only muster a few tears when you apologize to Bolton for being a useful idiot of the Lib smear machine.

Bolton, of course, is about the only voice of reason in an organization that is so dysfunctional, were it a family, it would make the Simpsons appear to be a normal family unit. Homer, of course, has all the brain power of a worse than useless Kofi Annan. This page has supported Bolton from the beginning. The more stories that surfaced that Bolton was bully and rubbed entrenched bureaucrats the wrong way, the more Lex believed he was the right man for the job. We probably could use a man like Mr. T taking our message to the thugs that dominate the UN. Only when it came to light that it was Lib girlie men being taken aback when Bolton asked them questions with his hands on his hips did this page become concerned. Hands on hips! Oh my!

Seems to me threatening is getting an inch from someone’s nose with a forefinger buried up to the second knuckle in the poor bureaucrat’s chest while making a point. Hands on hips – threatening? When I played high school basketball the coach wouldn’t let us put our hands on our hips because he said it was a sign of fatigue. Well as a solid bench warmer, I can tell you it’s also a sign of boredom. So was Bolton tired or just bored?

Being an idiot means never having to say thank you

Not since Katrina co-conspirators refused to leave New Orleans, have we seen a group of people so ungrateful for Uncle Sam, at taxpayer expense, saving their bacon. Idiots who ignored a raft of government warnings not to travel to Lebanon are now upset because Uncle Sam did not move quickly enough to get them out of a mess of their own making.

Is anyone else tired of huge sums of tax money going to rebuild the homes of millionaires who insist on building in the flood plain or a hurricane zone or on shifting ground that happens to have an ocean view? Well the evacuation of Lebanon seems to be exactly the same thing. The government issues warnings to travelers not to go to Lebanon. They go anyway. Now it’s Uncle Sam’s responsibility to get them out. When the mission is accomplished at great expense and effort by people much smarter than the evacuees, the evacuees complain about how long it took and having to pay for their own stupidity. Rare has been the common sense, common decency “thank you for saving me from my own stupidity” from one of these pathetic ungrateful, self-centered dopes. Ain’t America great?

Proportionality
High-minded people on the left and right and particularly in the UN are talking about proportionality in Israel’s latest struggle to survive. Proportionality - you know the - you pinch me, I flick your ear games of children in school. What would be the proportional response for someone who lobs hundreds of missiles into a border town say, San Diego? Then say the missiles are fired by a terrorist group known as the Open Borders Army for the destruction of the US. Then say the Mexican government refused to deploy its army to stop the firings. Then say the Open Borders group enters the US and kidnaps our citizens. What would be the proportional response to that set of circumstances?

Given the circumstances, it seems to me that Israel has demonstrated remarkable restraint. I think the Israelis should be expending a little less ordinance on Lebanon and a lot more on Syria. But the weenies now complaining about proportionality would be apoplectic if Israel went after the real culprits. The US should tell Basshar Assad to knock it off or else.

Musings

Stem cell
The uniformed MSM, Libs and others will be dusting off all of the old arguments regarding stem cell research. Just remember a few points:
GWB is the first president EVER to allow ANY government funding or open ANY stem cell lines for this type of research.
Any benefit from stem cell research is way more likely to come from the private sector.
The same dopes complaining about the deficit will advocate for spend huge amounts money on a dubious practice to achieve a questionable result.
The argument that the stem cells will be destroyed-die anyway is bogus. Don’t destroy them, and Aunt Hilda is going to die as well, but we don’t experiment on her while she’s in the rest home.

There are certain research projects that responsible governments ought not to be associated with. Stem cell research is one. Leave it to the private labs and let the loud mouth Hollywood set pay for it.

McCain immoral
John, look at me, McCain recently told a crowd that it was “immoral” to send hard working law abiding illegal aliens home. Hmmm. Law abiding illegal alien? Wouldn’t being an ILLEGAL alien take one out of the law abiding category? Just asking John. A few other oxy morons destined for political history:
Law abiding speeders ought to have there own lane during rush hour.
Law abiding tax cheats ought to be given a special tax break.
Law abiding bank robber need special accounts where ten cents is deposited from every legal bank transaction.

Then there’s the “immoral” thing. That is high-minded talk coming from a crooked Keating Five pol. The ill tempered McCain is trying to set himself up as the moral clear thinking one while any who dare disagree is an immoral, racist, anti-immigration pig. Well John I think it’s immoral for pandering pols to ignore our laws and allow an untenable condition to exist on our southern border for decades. I think it’s immoral to pass legislation to build a wall, which is supported by 70% of the American people, along that border then not fund the construction. I think it's immoral call an overwhelming majority of concerned citizens in this country who want the laws you passed enforced immoral.

Bush knows Jack S@$%

The MSM is harrumphing about President Bush’s use of a barnyard expletive during an unguarded moment yesterday. Liberal weenies are set to start the impeachment hearings as soon as they gain control of the house in November. After Bush’s remarks yesterday, sure to be among the charges is a count of “rude and crude behavior” unbecoming a US President. And these are the same people that defended President Clinton’s barnyard behavior while in office.

Well a flash poll of the three people in the room (one no fan of Bush) when this story broke was laughter followed by praise, followed by “even I can understand what he means, which is unusual for a pol speak.” The fact that what the president said is spot on is ignored by the dopes in the MSM who prefer to focus on one four letter word. I don’t always agree with the president, but I appreciate the clarity of George Bush. Contrary to the MSM view, President Bush’s use of a way too common vulgarity while expressing a clear and correct thought is sure to endear to most Americans.

The next step ought to be for the president to issue an ultimatum to Basshar Assad: Get out of Iraq. Get out of Lebanon. Cease all aid and comfort Hamas and Hezbollah or Damascus is going to look like the Jolly Green Giant’s gravel pit.

More proof that the UN is worthless
As if we needed any more, President Bush’s remarks, a hopelessly inadequate resolution on North Korea, unwillingness to deal with Iran in any meaningful way and an absolute nothing on the current Middle East chaos is proof positive that the UN is huge waste of time and money.

WWIII?
Newt Gingrich is making headlines by announcing that we are now engaged in WWIII. Anyone familiar with this page knows that Lex has been trying to pound home the seriousness of the war on ITF. It will not surprise many that I agree 100% that we are engaged in a world war and that the stakes could not be higher. I disagree that it’s WWIII. Someone, Victor Davis Hanson I think, has made a strong case that it is actually WWIV. Davis or whomever makes a strong case that the Cold War was actually WWIII.

Expand the war on terror

Well, well, well, imagine my surprise when I learned that Iran and Syria are behind the latest attacks against Israel. Any regular reader of this page knows that Lex has advocated expanding our war against ITF into Syria and Iran. These two troublemakers have been assisting in the killing of US servicemen since the end of traditional combat. We know it. They know it. The world knows it. But we have tried to find a “diplomatic” solution. We never learn.

Now these two bozos are stirring up trouble with Israel. Being spineless bastards, they use their surrogate troublemakers in the region, Hamas and Hizbollah to do the dirty work. Israel knows diplomacy with the devil never works so has taken a more reasonable approach and kicked the excrement out of the two of them. For standing up to terrorists, Israel has been condemned by the Security Council and other worthless, know nothing, do nothing, be nothing entities, like France. Now Israel is upping the ante by telling Syria and Iran, “you’re next.”

Meanwhile, fragile democracies in Lebanon and Iraq hang somewhere in the balance. Bush’s big idea in the Middle East, democracy, is in peril. It seems an expansion of the war is in order. We know from our experience in Vietnam that it is difficult to defeat an insurgency when it is supported, funded and supplied from sanctuaries outside the country. The US might consider an Iraqi division under cover of US airpower crossing ten or so miles into Syria to root out the terrorist bases that Syria just can’t seem to find.

Like all armchair generals, proposing an idea is different from executing it and accepting responsibility for the inevitable unintended consequences. Something dear to these two creeps needs to be held at risk. Something tells me, when it’s their own backsides on the line, they will be more cooperative.

Hot Shots

French hot head and soccer star Zinedine Zidane gets a pass from MSM sports doofs because he, you guessed it, practices the religion of peace and tolerance. Yes Zidane’s head butt an Italian player was deplorable, but the Italian insulted Zidane’s mother and sister and, of course, Muslims don’t tolerate that so the heck with peace. Were Zidane a Christian he’d have been expected to just carry on because Christians are taught to turn the other cheek. Butt Zidane’s a Muslim and an idiot. He let the Italian bait him into looking like, well, an idiot.

Karl Rove Guilty
That’s right the AP has Karl Rove guilty of giving up Valerie Plame. Oops, no he didn’t. During a call with Robert Novak, after being asked by Novak if Plame had sent her dope husband to Niger on fishing expedition to undermine American efforts to bring down Saddam Hussein, Rove said, “oh you know that too.” Odd isn’t it that the NYT can dismantle entire secret government programs designed to keep the nation safe and wins awards while Rove is fitted for an orange jumpsuite for uttering five words to Robert Novak.

Israel in fight for life
Taking their lead from a Muslim soccer, Hamas and Hezballa decided they’d head butt Israel. Now, Israel is getting up off the ground and pummeling their two opponents. The French along with the NYT, as expected, are collaborating with the terrorists.

The religion of peace strikes in India
OK the attack in India is par for the course from a bunch of backward thinking losers trapped in the 8th century. No surprise there. But the deafening silence from Muslim governments, clerics and “leaders” indicates why the terror war will drag on for a long time and why it must be fought on the offensive and why we need to keep our petro dollars out Muslim hands. Drill in Alaska off shore and where ever else the oil is, devlope nuclear power and other petro alternatives.

Auf Wiederschen Germany

The movers come tomorrow and pack up Lex’s link to the web. This will be my last post from Europe. A few notes in no particular order about the Euro experience.

Europeans don’t like Americans. If they do, we never experienced it. Our experience was that most Europeans had more contempt for the EU than America. I have 4 or 5 photos of anti-EU graffiti with a simple yet unmistakable message “phuque” the EU.

While Europe is mired in socialist tendencies, there are quite few freedoms we don’t see in the US. People are free to smoke. People are free to display the cross about anywhere. People are free to drive as fast as they wish along certain parts of the highway.

Beautiful playgrounds and swimming pools where kids can be kids. If a kid falls down, he gets up, cries, gets a band aid and goes back to the playground. There are no law suits. No long lists of things that are not allowed. Kids run at the pool with no whistle blast and/or time outs.

There is one beautiful and picturesque place after another - many off the beaten path. Some of the best places we’ve been were on the way to some major tourist attraction when we pulled off the road to have lunch in some small unknown town or another.

Mom and pop everything, toy stores, bakeries, restaurants, Guest Houses that are like staying at grandma’s etc.

Yeah, Europe was a good time for a visit but I’m looking forward to getting back to the good ‘ol USA. Why? Well here are a few reasons in no particular order.

Air conditioning. Any place in Europe that says “Air Conditioned” doesn’t really understand the concept of Air Conditioning as we do in America. Euro’s idea of AC is keeping a place ½ degree cooler than the outside temperature and a 3 speed fan on high.

Shooting, fishing and flying. These activities are regulated and priced out of the average guys ability to pay and/or participate.

Eating a meal quickly in a restaurant if you need to. The restaurants here are great, but usually have one waiter and there is no hope of getting in and out in under 40 minutes – unless you’re the only one eating.

Schools and Hollywood

What is going on in our public schools? PC bovine excrement for the most part and that’s the way the NEA likes it. And don’t think they are about to let anyone challenge their world view. Cobblestone magazine is aimed at children ages 9-14 and is distributed nationwide to schools and libraries. Its latest issue features a cover photo of a US soldier. Oh the humanity!

But as vulgar as the picture of US soldier is to today’s “education” establishment, what’s inside the magazine has sent the namby pamby, I’m OK – you’re OK, 2 + 2 equals whatever you think it equals “education” crowd into convulsions. The current issue of Cobblestone contains articles on what it's like to go through boot camp, a rundown of Army weapon systems and a detailed description of Army career opportunities.

But wait it gets worse. The issue also contains classroom guides which suggest teachers invite a soldier, Army recruiter or veteran to speak to their classes and ask students whether they might want to join the Army someday. Pass the salts. Get me to the fainting couch. I don’t think I can take anymore. Soldiers, recruiters and veterans in our classrooms? This has to violate the first amendment in some manner.

This issue of Cobblestone has sent the appropriately named Francis Lunney into a tizzy "Some of the teachers were like, 'Holy cow, look at this,'" whined the sixth-grade English teacher in Hudson, Mass. A call to action, this cannot stand. Lunney the loon quickly called the publishing company to complain. He told The Boston Globe that the guides looked exactly like the official recruiting material distributed at high schools. And…the problem with that is?
The Loonmeister no doubt has spent endless classroom hours preaching, tolerance, open mindedness and diversity - unless, of course it has to do with young people serving a cause greater than themselves through selfless sacrifice defending their nation in its armed forces. The Loonster is a typical do as say not as do lib - a BS merchant masquerading as an “educator.”
Then there is Hollywood. Supporters of Cindy Sheehan, the woman who is making a living off her son’s death in Iraq, are taking up a hunger strike. Some, including Shaun Penn, Susan Sarandon, novelist Alice Walker and actor Danny Glover, are only partially dedicated the anti-war movement and will only commit to join a “rolling fast”, a relay in which 2,700 activists pledge to refuse food for at least 24 hours, and then hand over to a comrade.

What a great idea. How about a rolling 10 Commandments? I’ll follow them on Sun, Mon, Wed, and Fri. Anyone want to take up the slack for me on Tue, Thur and Sat? I also advocate rolling sobriety, over eating, tax code compliance, and work schedules.

A bad day for anti-American Libs

How does a left wing nut celebrate the 4th of July? Does he sit in a dark room trying to shut out waves of red, white and blue, noise of the incomparable “Stars and Stripes Forever”, the sound of happy people eating hot dogs while watching the high school band and the neighbor’s kids riding their decorated bikes as they go by in a local parade? Yes they must be a dower lot today, these few these miserable few.

Oh if only King George could have recognized the sparks of liberty a bit earlier in 1776. He could have sent more of his boorish, heavy handed, cleat booted, lobster backed tyrants to trample those sparks and spare today’s American left the ignominy of having to face another 4th of July as the world’s leader and last best hope. Oh the shame! Having been raised in this land of bounty, opportunity and prosperity. And George W. Bush is sure to be on TV today, short sleeved shirt, cowboy hat, can of non-alcoholic beer, mixing so naturally with common folks, garnering more American attention by several 100,000 times than the Tour de France, Wimboldon and World Cup soccer match combined, all happening today in Europe.

Screw ‘em. I hope they are miserable and go into hiding for the day. Wearing red white and blue today is like buying a gun, smoking a cigarette, drinking a beer, eating a McDonald’s hamburger while shopping at Wal-Mart or driving a SUV. The fact that it pisses liberals off and/or makes them uncomfortable is just one more good reason for doing it.

T-shirt, slapped Stars and Stripe Forever in the CD player and hit the repeat button. That ought to be enough to keep the average “oh, America’s too strong, too much of a force in today’s world” moron away from the door for the day. Happy Birthday America!

The Declaration of Independence

IN CONGRESS, July 4, 1776.

The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America. When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed - That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.

Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed.

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.

Such has been the patient sufferance of these Colonies; and such is now the necessity which constrains them to alter their former Systems of Government. The history of the present King of Great Britain is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted to a candid world.

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.

He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.

He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people.

He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the Legislative powers, incapable of Annihilation, have returned to the People at large for their exercise; the State remaining in the mean time exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within.

He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands.

He has obstructed the Administration of Justice, by refusing his Assent to Laws for establishing Judiciary powers.

He has made Judges dependent on his Will alone, for the tenure of their offices, and the amount and payment of their salaries.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harrass our people, and eat out their substance.

He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:

For Quartering large bodies of armed troops among us:

For protecting them, by a mock Trial, from punishment for any Murders which they should commit on the Inhabitants of these States:

For cutting off our Trade with all parts of the world:

For imposing Taxes on us without our Consent:

For depriving us in many cases, of the benefits of Trial by Jury:

For transporting us beyond Seas to be tried for pretended offences

For abolishing the free System of English Laws in a neighbouring Province, establishing therein an Arbitrary government, and enlarging its Boundaries so as to render it at once an example and fit instrument for introducing the same absolute rule into these Colonies:

For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws, and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments:

For suspending our own Legislatures, and declaring themselves invested with power to legislate for us in all cases whatsoever.

He has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.

He has plundered our seas, ravaged our Coasts, burnt our towns, and destroyed the lives of our people.

He is at this time transporting large Armies of foreign Mercenaries to compleat the works of death, desolation and tyranny, already begun with circumstances of Cruelty & perfidy scarcely paralleled in the most barbarous ages, and totally unworthy the Head of a civilized nation.

He has constrained our fellow Citizens taken Captive on the high Seas to bear Arms against their Country, to become the executioners of their friends and Brethren, or to fall themselves by their Hands.

He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us, and has endeavoured to bring on the inhabitants of our frontiers, the merciless Indian Savages, whose known rule of warfare, is an undistinguished destruction of all ages, sexes and conditions.

In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people.

Nor have We been wanting in attentions to our Brittish brethren. We have warned them from time to time of attempts by their legislature to extend an unwarrantable jurisdiction over us. We have reminded them of the circumstances of our emigration and settlement here. We have appealed to their native justice and magnanimity, and we have conjured them by the ties of our common kindred to disavow these usurpations, which, would inevitably interrupt our connections and correspondence. They too have been deaf to the voice of justice and of consanguinity. We must, therefore, acquiesce in the necessity, which denounces our Separation, and hold them, as we hold the rest of mankind, Enemies in War, in Peace Friends.

We, therefore, the Representatives of the united States of America, in General Congress, Assembled, appealing to the Supreme Judge of the world for the rectitude of our intentions, do, in the Name, and by Authority of the good People of these Colonies, solemnly publish and declare.

That these United Colonies are, and of Right ought to be Free and Independent States; that they are Absolved from all Allegiance to the British Crown, and that all political connection between them and the State of Great Britain, is and ought to be totally dissolved; and that as Free and Independent States, they have full Power to levy War, conclude Peace, contract Alliances, establish Commerce, and to do all other Acts and Things which Independent States may of right do.

And for the support of this Declaration, with a firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes and our sacred Honor.
