PDJT continues to get Lefty Libs to side with ChiComs

If you’re wondering why Johnny can’t read and write, here’s a clue.
Today's JG rant
President Trump does it again!! The “it” in this case is to get another angry JG letter writer suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome since about 9pm on Nov 8th, 2016 to side with the godless, murderous, lying, thieving Chinese communist government over Americans and American interests.  Well played, sir.

The latest Trump hater pining for Chinese communist world dominance is Marty Lemert (Letter, “Ignorance will cost us lives” of Mar 31, 2020).  It is not unreasonable to expect some kind of payment from the communist Chinese government for their negligence in spawning the current pandemic. Lemert lampoons Congressman Jim Banks for floating the idea of the Chinese communist government forgiving or restructuring the portion of US debt they bought up.  The Chinese communist government’s negligence has cost the US trillions of dollars.  Why should such a bargaining chip be taken off the table?

If the restructuring is negotiated and agreed to by both parties it violates no laws.

I love it when a lefty writer accuses someone of not reading books and articles in one line and then goes on to prove his own unread ignorance in the balance of the letter.  So it is with Lemert who thinks all tariff costs are automatically passed on to consumers.  Read a book.  They aren’t.  Often the cost of the tariff or part of the cost is assumed by the foreign manufacturer in order to maintain an advantageous price point on the Walmart self.

Next Lemert somehow believes that it’s jingoistic to expect America to supply itself with critically important healthcare equipment rather than trust the communist Chinese government – the exact same government that carelessly flooded the world with the current pandemic and then supplied tests that do not work and faulty PPE to battle the very plague it loosed on mankind.

When the air clears after this pandemic, the US will break its dependence on China for critical medicines, military supplies and other national security materials.  That break will not be anchored in jingoism. It will be anchored in survival.

Here’s a news flash to Lemert, the JG editorial staff and lefties in general:  While you long for an authoritarian government that will provide cradle to grave mediocrity by ensuring equal outcomes for all as opposed to equal opportunity and you see the communist Chinese government as a model to those ends, the communist Chinese are not our friends.  They never have been, and it’s unlikely that they ever will be.

Ignorance will cost us lives
Rep. Jim Banks' recent remarks that China should be made to pay the costs of this pandemic in the U.S. was wrong on many levels.
First he suggested China forgive our debt it has bought up; it won't. Nor can we renege on this public debt without violating Section 4 of the 14th Amendment.
Even without violating the Constitution, weakening faith in the security of this debt by “suggesting” we shouldn't have to pay could have severe consequences for the value of the dollar and our economy.
Next, Banks suggested more tariffs as a way for China to pay us.
If Banks could stop blowing his jingoistic dog whistle, he might read an article or book by any economist who will explain Americans are the ones who ultimately pay extra when Donald Trump puts tariffs on various goods.
Also, new tariffs on what exactly? In 2018, the same year the Trump administration gutted our government's pandemic response team, Trump placed a 25% tariff on Chinese-made personal protective equipment for health care workers.
The Trump administration only just exempted the personal protective equipment tariff on March 6 in light of the glaring shortage we now have in these critical goods.
Health care workers are being exposed and put at great risk because of Trump's tariffs and neglect. Meanwhile, Jack Ma, China's version of Jeff Bezos, just donated to the U.S. a million masks and half a million testing kits.
Instead of demonizing the Chinese, let's assign responsibility on the person who accepts none.
Perhaps we need to be billing Trump for the costs of this pandemic as his ignorance, his callous disregard and his hubris have caused America to be short of essentials needed to fight this pandemic.
Claiming China will pay for the virus is like claiming Mexico will pay for the wall – a lie designed to whip up xenophobic lather when ultimately it is Americans who will foot the bill – in money and lives.

Today's JG rants - anti-Christians bigots and the Doomsday Clock farce

I’d like to thank the JG’s alert editorial board for printing Emory Earl Toops’ letter “Moral vacuousness’ in freedom claim” of Mar 29, 2020 and in the process exposing Toops and other like him as the racists that they are.  Toops pointing to “white evangelical parishioners” while excluding all others is the very definition of racist behavior, no.  I can almost hear Toops at the dinner table, “Those damn uppity white evangelicals are moving into the neighborhood.  There go the property values.”

Toops thinks white evangelicals’ only interest in “freedom” of religion is the freedom of “big box, white evangelicals” to force “their beliefs on everyone else.”  Very weird.  The only religion I know of that actively tries to force their beliefs on others is radical Islam.  The other example I suppose would be the freedom from religion crowd like Toops and godless communist governments in China, Cuba, Venezuela, etc.

None are willing tolerate freedom of religion or even freedom of speech in support of religion.  That’s Toops’ real problem – the freedom of speech of people who support religion.  He cannot stand it.  Toops ignoring it or changing the channel is not an option.  Toops insists that the people speaking must be silenced.

I cannot wait to hear what Toops has to say about black Baptist, Asian Catholics and, oh my, the Jews – that, no doubt, is a Golden Pen waiting to happen for a bigot like Toops supported by the JG editorial staff.

'Moral vacuousness' in freedom claim
U.S. Rep. Jim Banks; State Reps. Christopher Judy, Bob Morris and Christy Stutzman; and Fort Wayne City Council members Jason Arp and Paul Ensley must believe the coronavirus stops at the mention of Jesus (“Pushback over closing churches,” March 24).
Neither are they and their big-box, white evangelical parishioners heeding the injunction to “Love thy neighbor as thyself” when they believe public health rules meant for everyone don't apply to them.
Finally, their attempt to fabricate closure of churches during a national and international health crisis as an attack on religious freedom in Allen County is indicative of their own moral vacuousness.
I've lived in Allen County long enough (five years) to know the “religious freedom” espoused by Banks, Judy, Morris, Stutzman, Arp and Ensley is the “freedom” to force their beliefs on everyone else.
The three years of the Trump administration have been a test for churches and their values, a test many churches in Allen County have failed. For if your God says it's fine to go out and infect someone else, then you need a new God.

In the face of a pandemic likely to cost the lives of hundreds of thousands worldwide, it must be nice to have at the top of your list of things to worry about a metaphoric clock that, unlike a stopped watch that is correct twice a day, has NEVER been correct.

So it is for Tim Tiernon (“Politicians must make the choice for peace” letter of Mar 29, 2020) who worries about the Doomsday Clock sitting at 100 seconds until midnight – the supposed end of the world.  Of course the clock never moves unless it is manipulated by something called The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientist.

No one knows the calculus that goes into the group’s determination of how the clock is set.  It used to be a judgement as to how far we humans were from destroying ourselves through nuclear annihilation. After having their calculus on nuclear destruction proven wrong every year since 1947, in 2007 the group decided they’d include climate change into their calculus.  Why not??  There are never enough things to be paranoid and perpetually wrong about.

It was just a short 50 years ago “scientists” were warning us about a coming ice age.  Since then we have lived through the destruction of the planet from a depleted ozone, the ruination of the planet due to acid rain, the death of the oceans due to global warming, the flooding of coastal cities due to melting ice caps.  We’ve been whipsawed from global cooling, to global warming, to climate change, to now climate disruption.

Through it all we’re living longer, enjoying cleaner air and water, driving more fuel efficient autos, etc. yet the doomsday clock moves closer to midnight.  Weird, huh.

Politicians must make the choice for peace
Americans should beware when politicians promise a “return to normalcy.” Time is linear. There is no going back.
We have warmed our planet with greenhouse gases. Denial will not make it cooler.
Democracy will fail us if we choose short-term comfort over action that can avert catastrophic climate change. This is no time for half measures. Ineffective greenwashing is a crime against future generations.
There is a clock we can turn back – the doomsday clock. We were at nine minutes to midnight when George W. Bush started the War on Terror.
The bulletin of atomic scientists advanced the clock twenty seconds over the Iran crisis. We are now at 100 seconds to midnight (the closest ever).
The Iran crisis demonstrates how quickly military action can spin out of control. Our military base near Kirkuk was likely attacked by ISIS. The Iraqi military warned us of that possibility.
Americans focused on the assassination of Iranian Gen. Qassem Soleimani. Few people learned we also killed Iraqi Gen. Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and 25 members of Iraq's popular mobilization force (fighting ISIS). The Associated Press called the general a “senior Iraqi militia leader” and his troops “Iranian-backed militia.” We were lucky Iran chose to deescalate.
We need a president and Congress that will rejoin the international community to combat climate change, create effective nuclear treaties and advance diplomacy over militarism.
Nostalgia is a funny thing. People remember that President Obama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. Few remember he dropped 26,000 bombs in one year after winning that prize.

What we’ve learned so far from the Chinese Virus

The godless, murdering, lying, thieving, no good, lousy commie government in China cannot be trusted under any circumstance.  They lied about the deadly virus they spawned.  They tried to blame their F-up on the US military.  They threatened to withhold lifesaving medicines from us when PDJT told the truth about the Commie bastards.

Only PDJT could get the anti-American MSM and the anti-American commie loving Democrat Party to side with the godless, murdering, lying, thieving, no good, lousy commie government in China simply by referring to a virus that originated in China as the Chinese Virus.

Only PDJT could get Democrat governors in NV and MI to withhold lifesaving well-tested, tried and true decades old meds from citizens because for no other reason than he has high hopes for their success inI treating the virus.

Only PDJT could get the MSM to bitch about him ending the daily White House briefing then get them to advocate for not broadcasting his daily virus update where he answers questions for hours sometimes.  The Democrats and MSM want to ignore the briefings for the sole reason that they are seen as helping his poll numbers.

For the Democrat Party, their commie green agenda is more important than the well-being of the American people.  The kind of crap that they tried to stuff into the stimulus bill is shameful.   Sadly, Democrat political leaders long ago lost ability to feel shame.

There is absolutely nothing from the sun rising in the east to water being wet that Democrats and their MSM lemmings will turn into a negative and then blame on PDJT.  From some idiot try to self-medicate with aquarium cleaner to NY Governor Andy Cuomo rejecting funding for 14,000 ventilators in favor of spending on failed solar and wind projects – it’s all PDJT’s fault according to these wizards of smart.

A full freezer and pantry may be more valuable than a full bank account when society goes feral.  Sad to say that civil society has very thin veneer when it becomes difficult for people to feed their families or – shock among shocks – wipe their azzes.

Along those same lines, ammo and fuel may be more valuable bartering items than gold if/when things go south.

It’s better not to live like rats in high-density cities where the disease transfers easily.

Ironically, the worse things get, the better for PDJT

At his presser yesterday, PDJT said that many in the MSM wanted the economy to tank to destroy his chances for re-election.  I do not doubt that for a second.  The MSM’s Trump Derangement Syndrome, as usual, is leading them down the wrong road.

The only chance Slowly Joe Biden has to win in November is massive voter fraud – a very real possibility – or a world where U.S. unemployment is at zero, economic growth is at 4.5%, Iran becomes a Christian nation, N. Korea foregoes communism and joins S. Korea in a unified Korea, the godless ChiCom bastards rejects communism and the Russians destroy their nuke arsenal and petition to join NATO.

The only way a rational human would trust the reins of power to a doddering old fool who slips further and further down the hole of dementia is if things were so great that even a lying, thieving, commie loving, brain-dead scumbag like the Slow One couldn’t screw it up.

It’s almost like the only way the buffoon could elected is if Americans decided, “Hell things are going so well, let’s have a few good laughs and let Professor Erwin Corey and his running mate Foster Brooks run things for a while.  Goodness, it’ll be hilarious.”

My thinking is that the worse things are the more we need PDJT.  The worse the economy is – who you gonna trust, the guy who brought us back from the Obama/Biden abyss or the idiot who helped to steer the ship of state into it in the first place?

Today's JG Chinese Virus rants

In her letter “Words of leadership” of Mar 25, 2020, Cindy Mack and JG editorial board who chose to print the letter take inanity to new levels.  Calling something what it is not hateful.  It is informative.

Only PDJT has the power to get leftists loons to side with the vilest people in the world simply by calling them out.  When PDJT called the murderous El Salvadorian gang MS-13 “animals”, Nancy Pelosi and the MSM came to the defense or the murderers calling them “children of God.”

“MS-13”, like the “Chinese” Virus are references to where these scourges originated.  MS-13 refers to a street in El Salvador.  Chinese refers to Wuhan where the virus originated.

It was only after Chinese Foreign Minister Zhao Lijian accused the US military of infecting China that PDJT insisted on calling the infection the Chinese Virus.  Then, after calling it either the Wuhan or Chinese Virus for weeks, leftist MSM decided that telling the truth about the origins of the virus was hateful.

You could almost hear the conversation in the Oval Office between PDJT and Don Jr.

Jr says, “Hey pops, I’ll bet you cannot get leftists in the MSM to side with the racists, godless murdering Chinese government who loosed this deadly disease on the world and who have threatened to withhold lifesaving medicines from Americans during this infection.”

PDJT replies, “Hold my diet Coke,” and just like that, after referring it as the Wuhan or Chinese virus themselves for weeks, the MSM and their lemmings think calling a virus that originated in China the Chinese Virus is hateful.

There’s a whole line of diseases and infection that have common names based on where they originated.  Lyme’s Disease, Ebola, Zika, Spanish Flu etc. all refer to the place where ailment originated with no claims of such designations being hateful by leftist hypocrites.

Words of leadership
Now is not the time for using hateful words such as the “Chinese” virus. It's the coronavirus. That  implies the Chinese people are responsible. President Trump has to stop this and try to be the leader he says he is.
Cindy Mack
Auburn

As someone older than 60 with a compromising condition, I take PDJT’s leadership on the Chinese Virus personally.

In his letter “Leadership of many fills in void at the top” of Mar 25, 2020 Terry Nilles calls the president a liar and claims that the president is trying to defund Social Security and Medicare by eliminating payroll taxes.

That’s not true.  I’d turn the tables on Nilles and call him/her a liar, but I just chalk such ignorance up to a failing public school system.  PDJT NEVER proposed an elimination of payroll taxes.  As a means to stimulate the economy and put more of their own money back into their own pockets the Trump team floated the idea of a TEMPORARY suspension of all or part of the payroll tax.

I could again turn the tables on Nilles and call him/her a liar for putting words into the president’s mouth by saying Trump and his supporters “plainly believe COVID-19 is a Democratic hoax.”   That’s not true.  If Nilles knows that it isn’t true, he/she is a liar.  I don’t believe that.  I believe Nilles is just parroting MSM news reports that fit his/her preconceived notions and too satisfied with that notion to seek the truth.

PDJT NEVER called the Chinese Virus a Democrat hoax.  He called the Democrat response to the virus a hoax.

AS Trump’s overall approval reaches 49% and approval of his handling of the Chinese Virus is well over 50% according to an ABC poll, I think the JG should continue to print its steady drip of “I hate Trump” letters, because that is what despondent whining lefty libs demand.  The world might stop spinning on its axis if the JG were to print a lefty lib letter that hoped for Trump’s success and gave Trump’s team some bit of credit for their sober handling of the crisis to date.

If we come out on the other side of this successfully, I suppose, like the Democrat response to Trump’s roaring economy, we’ll have to read about that success being as a result of the residue of Barak Obama’s policies.

Leadership of many fills in void at the top
As someone older than 60, I take the president's lies and incompetence about COVID-19 personally because I am in the most at-risk group — just as I do his efforts to use the pandemic to defund Social Security and Medicare by eliminating payroll taxes.
If we avoid Italy's fate, it will be because of state, local and business leaders of all political parties who have stepped up to fill the leadership void left by the president and his enablers. The president's lies are continuing to undermine the efforts of those leaders to mitigate the pandemic by their effect on his loyal supporters. Those supporters plainly believe COVID-19 is a Democratic hoax, just like the president has claimed. There is no other explanation for people's obliviousness to the concept of “social distancing,” which is the very reason crowds have been banned and schools shuttered.
If you are waiting in a line, keep six feet between you and the person in front of you because either of you could have the virus, be contagious and not yet have symptoms. It would also make sense for businesses that remain open to post signs explaining social distancing where lines form. Leaving six feet between people will not increase the time it takes to get to the front and it just might save your or a loved one's life.
Then, too, if the president would explain this to the country rather than patting himself on the back for a job poorly done and passing the buck, it might save a lot of lives and even help him politically.

It's reasonable for America to get back to work

Do not trust one damn thing the government tells you, particularly in a crisis.  Remember when the hurricane hit Puerto Rico?  The death toll was thought to be less than a hundred.  Later, the PR government added in every single person who died over the next several weeks from any cause claiming the death to be “hurricane related.”  The magic death toll in PR is now at 3,000 plus.  Total BS.

What if they are doing the same thing with the Chinese virus?  We know that old people with pre-existing conditions are the most susceptible to death.  So if I’m an 85 year old diabetic with a heart condition and 200 pounds overweight and happen to catch the Chinese virus and die, what killed me?

So far, we know that people under the age of 50 comprise about 1% of fatalities.  What to do?  It’s time for a peanut allergy type quarantine.  In a post several under Lex related a story where schools were banning peanut products from the lunchroom floor because one or two students had peanut allergies.  Lex asked, why not just set up a peanut free area in the corner of the cafeteria?  No good answers for that proposal.

I think after this 2 week shut down, it’s time to take a look at social distancing the most vulnerable and letting the rest of America get on with business. PDJT is correct when he says that the cure shouldn’t be worse that the illness. How far are we from a complete social breakdown?  When people are fighting in the aisles over toilet paper, what happens when there’s no meat left on the shelves?  Social order has very thin veneer.

As a guy who is “at risk” from the Chinese virus, I think it is best to get on back to business.  Restart this economy gradually in ways that makes sense.  Crank it up as we warn the most vulnerable to continue to be aware of the dangers of the virus.

Re: John Gospodarek’s letter “
Pandemic an argument for universal health care” of Mar 24, 2020.

Gospodarek thinks the pandemic should cause Americans to reassess our positions on supporting universal health insurance.  No thanks.  I’ll take my chances with best, most innovative and most compassionate healthcare system in the world.

If the pandemic has taught us one thing it is that the cure and alleviation of suffering from this crisis will be found in a dynamic private sector long before government bureaucrats mired in miles of red tape and regulation ever figure out what personal pronouns they will be allowed to be used in press releases.

Here’s the acid test.  Will any of the socialist virtue signalers like Gospodarek vote with their feet by seeking their own healthcare treatments in Cuba, Venezuela or even in Canada?  No.  They won’t, because they know for all of the shortcomings, America is far and away the best place be to be – particularly if you happen to be sick.

So why do they want to destroy the system?

Pandemic an argument for universal health care
Will the USA's lack of universal health care cost you your life?
With coronavirus on the rise in most U.S. communities, tens of millions of people may not seek medical attention because they are uninsured or undocumented and fearful of exposure. That could cost you your life
Maybe you should reassess your position and support universal health insurance (like the majority of the world has). Just because you have insurance, understand that it cannot keep you safe from germs and viruses in an untreated society.

Florida partiers need a place to stay and a place to drink

There’s a lot criticism being heaped on gen Z-ers partying on the beaches in Florida.  Fine.  They are self-centered azzbags.  But the people offering them hotel rooms are probably not gen Z-ers.  Nor are the bar owners. Nor are the parents footing the bill for this foolishness.

So sure lambaste the gen Z partiers, but also lambaste their boomer enablers.

Today’s JG Rant
It’s hard to figure who is more foolish and simple-minded, Mar 22, 2020 Golden Pen awardee Chester Baran or an entire editorial staff who would examine his foolishness and decide to heap great praise on such a weak effort with an award.  Well, we are in the era where we no longer keep score and give all the boys a trophy regardless of effort or merit.

All we’ve done for today’s youth in the last 20 plus years is to hand them the longest life expectancy in history; the cleanest air and water we’ve achieved in two generations; technological advances that literally makes nearly all of the world’s knowledge available at their fingertips with few key strokes.

While our humanity has forced us to remain engaged in seemingly endless wars that we refuse to win, no one, young or old, as in in past generations, is sent to fight those wars against their will.  The effect on the home front of those wars is nearly invisible except for the loved ones of those who choose to volunteer to fight them.

Now compare those American heroes to the pampered whining class that participates in and watches the waste of humanity that makes up much of what appears on the Grammys or the dysfunctional hypocrites warning of the dangers of climate change.

When Baran himself accepts the blame for gen Z’s shortcomings, that’s fine.  It is in large part probably his and people like him who are to blame.  Baran is a lefty liberal and most of today’s problems can be traced directly to failed lefty lib social policies and ideas.  What’s ridiculous is Baran’s inane effort to turn the blame for a generation’s weaknesses on a guy who has been president for just three short years.

Sunday, March 22, 2020 1:00 am
Golden Pen: February
Is it any wonder youth are so angry?
Music, song and dance are traditional cultural means to express celebration, reverence and protest. Each generation makes use of these arts to make a distinctive statement about themselves and their times.
With that in mind, I tuned in to this year's Grammys to see what the younger generation feels about their present. I watched about 45 minutes of what I considered glaring costumes, frenzied dancing and intense lyrics that were at once angry and desperate. I didn't know what to think. I spent a restless night trying to make sense of the spectacle.
In the morning I took account of the world I took a part in creating for our children. Twenty years and counting of continuous war with enemies of our own making; the West Coast on fire in early autumn and a continent on fire now and the response from the White House is to insult the youthful spokesperson demanding action to avert climate catastrophe; a president who not only lies but lies again to deny his lie; serial school shootings which evoke 'thoughts and prayers” but nothing else from a Congress with no principles; a community of faith whose only moral concern is its fixation on repealing the legality of reproductive rights; disguised racism in the form of mass incarceration and police brutality; all of which constitute an abandonment of our children for them to face unprepared and alone an existential crisis not of their making.
Hmm, would they be satisfied with a growing economy with “good-paying” jobs? That seems all we can think of to offer them.

Cut government regulations permanently, screw the ChiComs

In the post under Lex wonders if the extra-constitutional overreach being exercised by the government in response to the Chinese virus will become the norm for other so called “crises” like gun violence in Chicago.

I'm not sure if the current government overreach is necessary and responsible or not right now.  It may turn out to be the greatest thing since pre-sliced bread.  It's dependent upon if and how quickly we return to the status quo ante.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I wonder if the government response to the Chinese virus with regard to the stripping away of useless government regulations will continue when the crisis passes. I think we were all amazed how fast the government can work when someone points out and then removes useless government regulation designed for nothing more than putting power in the hands overpaid underworked useless know-nothing government bureaucrats who design the system to justify their BS jobs.

The test will be if the government can fast track this new chloroquine treatment and then mass produce it. How great would that be?  Talk about bending the curve.  The first treatment will go to the sickest among us, then healthcare providers, then those in close proximity to known carriers, then the rest of us.

Yeah it’s the f—king Chinese virus.  The other good thing to come out of this disaster will be if we finally cut the godless Chinese communist bastards off at the knees.  We simply cannot be dependent on these commie azzbags for anything more important to us than a loaf of stale bread.  F—k ‘em.  Bring the supply chain home or at least diversify it among allies.

Our current arrangement is like Popeye depending on Bluto for his supply of spinach.  It make no sense.  It's dangerous.  It has to end.

The aftermath of COVID-19 response is a real danger

I got called into the Docs office early yesterday, so I missed posting my enlightening thoughts.  The hue and cry that followed was the saddest sound ever.

UPDATEMore proof of government/liberal take over during crisis.  Once this becomes the norm the "GAME OVER" light comes on.

I’m not much of a conspiracy theorist.  Okay, I’m a huge conspiracy theorist.  Here’s one that was sent to me not long ago.  At first blush I thought it was pretty thin gruel.  Then stories started cropping up about just how corrupt and China loving the W.H.O really is. The creepy masters of the universe bureaucrats involved in the Event 201 seminar in the video is enough to give anyone pause.

Then the Powerline people enlighten us with jewels like this:

There have been a few stories observing that the temporary collapse of economic activity in China and, starting last week, here in the U.S. is having the benefit of lowering emissions! Sooner or later some environmentalist is going to indulge the view that the mortality from COVID 19 isn’t all bad since it reduces population.

Actually, someone already previewed it for us. Back in 1989, a research biologist for the National Park Service named David Graber wrote in the Los Angeles Times:

“Human happiness, and certainly human fecundity, are not as important as a wild and healthy planet. I know social scientists who remind me that people are part of nature, but it isn’t true. Somewhere along the line–at about a billion years ago, maybe half that—we quit the contract and became a cancer. We have become a plague upon ourselves and upon the Earth. It is cosmically unlikely that the developed world will choose to end its orgy of fossil-energy consumption, and the Third World its suicidal consumption of landscape. Until such time as Homo sapiens should decide to rejoin nature, some of us can only hope for the right virus to come along.”

Remember: this was a Federal government scientist. Think of it as the Deep-Six State.
Given the government’s inability to fire even the vilest, lazy, stupid and agenda driven people like Graber, you just know these are the deep (six) state azzwipes out there right now supposedly looking out after us when their real goal is to sow fear and even kill us.
But wait there’s more:
I should have known the postmodernist court jester Slavoj Zizek would show up at some point, proclaiming that the coronavirus is a great excuse to bring back Communism! No, seriously, that’s his argument. (Though on close inspection it turns out to be another iteration of “True Communism has never been tried! I’m sure we’ll get it right this time!” Which is why I still wonder whether Zizek is putting us on all the time.)

‘If you add to this a possible new wave of refugees you get the perfect storm, and I think that Europe is so weakened that it will not be able to react in a unified way, and that’s what I mean when I say coronavirus gives a new chance to communism,’ he said. ‘Of course, I don’t mean the old-style communism. By communism, I mean simply what the World Health Organization is saying. We should mobilize, coordinate, and so on…like, my God, this is a dangerous situation. They’re saying this country lacks masks, respirators, and so on. We should treat this as a war. Some kind of European coordination…maybe even wartime mobilization. It can be done, and it can even boost productivity.

‘What I mean is that it is possible to keep the good sides of capitalism, but nonetheless, through a coordinated state, social effort to mobilize. Not just with coronavirus, this is needed with other ecological crises, refugees and so on.’
I think we have to walk a very fine line here.  Is the cure worse than the disease?  Does it lend us to government over-reaction and injecting itself into lives in ways we heretofore we would never have tolerated.  The government is taking what appear to be extra constitutional steps to try to prevent the spread of the virus and keep the economy from collapsing.  The Demo-Dope saying, “Never let a crisis go to waste” comes to mind.
I’m not so concerned about this right now.  Things are bad – even if/when the virus is contained – things are bad.  I worry about if America opts for a moron like Slow Joe Biden to occupy the Oval Office.  Look how easy it was to get us whipped into a frenzy and give up things for sake of blunting the spread of a virus.  What if Slowly Joe decides gun violence in Chicago has reached epidemic proportions and that draconian COVID-19 like steps must be taken to protect the American people?  Demands the closure of all gun stores.  Halts gun manufacturing etc?
We’ve been or are being conditioned for draconian federal responses to problems.  If PDJT is successful in blunting this virus and saving the economy by closing down the country and handing out government checks, what precedence does that set?  Dopes will be rolling it out every time someone sneezes in the street.  We are still living with FDR's New Deal BS.
I don’t know how this all  going to play out but I hope we don’t take the 9-11 approach that will have us socially distancing 20 years after the event.  Don’t laugh.  We’re still standing in lines stripping down, being patted down and exposed to x-rays while we pile our belongings into plastic bins to be examined by the government without warrant.  Grandma gets pulled aside for a cavity search while the 20 something male breezes through without a care.  We put up with this BS because we don’t want to get kicked off a flight for raising the BS flag on the entire futile process.  It is just another government bureaucracy that will never go away, modernize or adjust to meet the needs of the people that they supposedly protecting.
That is the big danger of the government response to this virus.  We sheepeople will just continue to go along with the BS long after the crisis has passed.
