Bush leads, politicians follow...the polls

WARNING: A bit long today but as Lex is off for the 4th of July weekend, this post can to cover the four days I’ll be gone. Have a great 4th - remember what we’re celebrating.

In honor of the up coming 4th of July holiday, I picked a copy of David McCullough’s “1776”. There is a quote from January 14, 1776 by George Washington, “The reflection upon my situation and that of this army produces many an uneasy hour when all around me are wrapped in sleep. Few people know the predicament we are in.” Washington’s army in 1776 was an undisciplined, unkempt, poorly supplied, unevenly led bunch hardly worthy of the name army. The British regulars referred to them as “armed rabble”.

Today, “patriot” Democrats and the MSM are doing their darnedest to have you believe that our army today is no better – probably worse – than that of 1776. By their words and coverage, they would have you believe that are armed forces are made up entirely of immoral, illiterate, murdering high school drop outs who only joined because there are no jobs in this lousy Bush economy and they are being led by lying craven careerists. RC Durbin rushes to the floor of the Senate to condemn US troops comparing them to Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot. Few if any Democrats repudiate the remarks. The MSM, smelling a scandal for RC, simply ignores the story.

Joey Boy the plagiarizing dolt Biden says every commander in Iraq is asking for more troops, ignoring the testimony of General George Casey Commanding General, Multinational Forces, Iraq. General Casey must be lying in an effort to curry favor with Rumsfeld I suppose.

The MSM hops on every single story that might place our troops in an unfavorable light. Endless stories on the scandal at Abu Graihb and lies about Gitmo. Any story about an American firing his weapon under questionable circumstances in the heat of combat has that American and his leadership convicted of war crimes before the investigation even starts. When the investigation reveals a “just firing”, the media insinuate cover up and never gives the out come 1/10th the coverage as their bogus accusations. When Americans reject the MSM media tripe, the MSM simply move hyping the next “scandal” hoping for traction.

Mr. McCullough pulled another wonderful quote from Washington, “Perseverance and spirit have done wonders in all ages.” Sadly, Democrats and the MSM have no spirit and the only perseverance they possess is in attacking our Commander-in-Chief and his army. It truly is a sad state of affairs. The president and his army not only have to battle a ruthless enemy in Iraq but the useful idiots back home. And it’s not just Democrats. “Republicans” like Lindsey Graham, John McCain, Chuck Hagel offer the troops and their Commander-in-Chief little help. Graham sniffs that we’re loosing the people. Well Senator, how about some leadership on your part? How about getting out and rallying the people around a cause for which you supposedly stand behind the president.

It’s called leadership. In the early days of the Revolution, units “elected” their own leaders. Guess who got elected - the “leaders” that required the least from their troops. The army only transformed from “armed rabble” to what could loosely be termed a real army when leadership arrived to take the army where it needed to go vice where it wanted to go. Anyone can lead an army on to leave and liberty (vacation and quitting time for you civilians). It takes a real leader to lead an army to the sound of battle. The MSM runs polls so that craven politicians can lead the people where they want go rather than where the country must go. Nefariously, questions are worded to illicit the response the MSM desires. So, the craven politicians responding to the poll are not responding to the people at all but rather the MSM. I can get support for the war up to about 85%. Ask the question this way, “Only cowards and fools cut and run. Would you cut and run in Iraq?” President Bush is leading where this country must go. He could use a little help.

Dems are going spazoid about the president linking Saddam to 9/11 which he never did. He did link Saddam to the war on terror. I don’t need proof that Saddam was sympathetic to terrorists who wanted to harm to the US. To me that is intuitive. There are far too many particulars for this space but you can visit here and here for the long list of how dopey the Dems are to insist Saddam wasn’t in cahoots with terrorists.

In his speech, the president asked us to do something for the men and women defending America. The Army burn unit in San Antonio, TX is working to restore the young men who enter that facility to some sort of normal life. When one particularly badly burned Marine had a General Officer visit to award him his Purple Heart medal, the Marine reportedly said, “If it’s alright sir, I’d rather wait until I can stand and salute.” The Moon Light Fund helps the service people coming in and out of the burn unit. Their website is http://www.moonlightfund.org/purple_heart.htm. Check it out. Contribute if you can.

Lex E. Libertas, what are we going to do...? I'm not sure about you but it's getting harder and harder to enjoy my blog because of all the spam it's getting attacked with. You may be having a similar problem... I enjoy my normal site about woman rash guards because it doesn't get cluttered with shallow comments, but when I'm visiting other blogs and places on the web looking for woman rash guards stuff it seems to be everywhere.

Well I'm not sure if you have any good tips, but good luck with your website goals. I wish you the best.
