The government ordered us to line up and we did

Last year AF Bro got me a Molon Labe t-shirt for my birthday.  Not surprising to anyone, like the word doting (which is another story), I didn’t know what the Greek phrase meant.  It did not help one bit that the phrase was written in Greek.  I thought AF Bro was rush chairman for a new fraternity of tiny bloggers.

AF Bro informed me that when the Greeks were holding the pass at Thermopylae, the Persian King Xerxes promised, if the Greeks would just lay down their weapons, the Persian army would kill the Greeks quickly – no suffering.  The Greek King Leonidas responded to Xerxes’ offer with the Greek phrase “molon labe,” which means “come and take them.”

I liked it so much I used a version in the “about me” corner on this very page.  I liked old glory over the Greek battle helmet.  And seriously, if I hadn’t told you, would anyone not already in the know, been able to figure out the Greek phrase?  I guess, when confronted with a confusing passage, that’s what gives rise to the expression “it’s all Greek to me.”  I used that line while perusing a menu in Athens once and got not a single chuckle from the Lex family.

Anyhoo, back on point. Molon Labe = come and take them.  Well the photo at the top is people in CT lining up to comply with a government law requiring them to register certain kinds of weapons, ammo, magazines and clips.  WTF?  Is this America?  I could have sworn when told to comply with some BS government regulation Americans would engage in a bit of civil disobedience.  Yet here we are lined up like sheep for the slaughter.  In CT “come and take them” has morphed into “Yes master. We will comply.” Uh no, I don’t know the Greek translation for that gem.

You may or may not be in favor of Americans being able to “keep and bear arms,” but you ought to be for the Constitution.

Registration?  For what purpose?  Well one reason could be for the cops to know where to show up in one of these and take them.  Another reason could be so the government will know who and how much to tax the owner of these weapons for their “right to keep and bear arms.”  Is there a fee associated with the registration?  That’s a tax.  And if there isn’t one today, how long will it be before some Pol demands a tax to “off-set the administrative costs” of registration.  Then raise the registration cost to reduce the number of weapons, like a cigarette tax.

Once you’ve complied with this BS, it’s pretty much game over for your right to keep and bear arms.  But I understand.  You may not be able to pick up stakes and move to where the state legislature isn’t controlled by a bunch of knee jerk pansy azz leftists.  You sure as heck do not want the weight of the state bearing down on you and your family for non-compliance.  Who wants to be the first non-compliance case of an over zealous prosecutor on this issue?  So what to do?  Move the guns to the closest freedom loving state is one option.  But, unless the weapon is purely a historic piece, that sort of defeats the purpose of having the gun.  Register one and move the others is the answer, I guess.

To me, this is very disturbing.

While we’re on the Thermopylae meme, how about Ted Cruz as Leonidas?  Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio as the 300?  Our own king as Xerxes?  Renamed King Jerkses.   Harry the roach Reid as the Immortals?  Immortals = stealing forever.  I’m not sure we have an exact fit for the deformed traitor in the story.  I suppose you could get anyone in the Rat “leadership” to play that part.  But we do have an entire party of creeps who act like the Greek senate condemning Leonidas for his nation saving efforts from the comfort and safety of their chambers while the 300 fight the good fight.

Oh and how appropriate is it to have a Spartan reference after MI State's win in the Rose Bowl yesterday?

In case we forget this report from Breitbart in Jan 2013.

In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.

Wakeup Connecticut!

Clearly you need to register your hammers, and completely OUTLAW the 22 oz framing hammers. This would include limiting the number of nails a person could have at one time, AND hammer holsters. Certainly claw hammers need a special permit to carry on one's person.

Also, remove the statues at the site of the Battle of Ridgeway (CT) where our militia men fought the British. How callous those militia men were to fight the Brits, rather than roll over and give Brits their weapons. How progressive they could have been in just allowing politicians to run their lives.
