Elections, Dunham and Cruz

We should have elections every two months

I noticed that gasoline in Ft. Wayne, IN is as close to $3 a gallon as it has been since The Empty Suit and his EPA declared war on affordable energy opting instead for policies designed to make coal fired electricity rates and the cost of every other kind of usable energy to “necessarily skyrocket.”  Last week the unemployment rate dipped below 6%.

Wow!  Happy days are here again!  That is at least until after the midterm election.  Weird, just before the 2012 general election the unemployment rate and gas prices both dip.  Now just before the midterms both are on the decline again.

Here’s a suggestion: Hold national elections every two months.  Given the propensity for unemployment and gas prices to drop just before the election, in a year and a half the unemployment rate would be at 0.000001% and gas companies would be paying us to fill up our tanks.

Who is Lena Dunham?

Lena Dunham is the poster girl for Rush Limbaugh’s Undeniable Truth of Life #24:  Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream of society.  Dunham is the unattractive hag made famous during the 2012 campaign for comparing young women casting their first vote for The Empty Suit to losing their virginity.  Nice.

Dunham has book out.  In the book she claims to have been raped by a Young Republican named Barry while attending Oberlin College in 2005.  I don’t know if she was raped or not.  It seems to me just a bit too convenient that Dunham’s rapist would turn out to be a Young Republican.  That gives “sleeping with the enemy” a rather literal meaning.  Dunham’s claims remind me of Tawana Brawly, the Duke lacrosse rape case, the cases of racist messages left on coeds’ message boards at the college dorm that turned out to be left by the coeds themselves, and on and on.

But…I don’t know.  What I do know is that Dunham never filed rape charges against Barry.  The statute of limitations on rape in Ohio, where the rape is said to have occurred, is 20 years.  So if Dunham is truly as concerned about Barry assaulting other women, as she claims to be, she could go to Oberlin and file charges today.  Why doesn’t she?  I suspect that, like The Empty Suit’s make believe girlfriend in his book, Dunham’s "Barry" is some sort of composite boyfriend.  Barry is a compilation of all the one date wonders Dunham scared off with her special charms.

But…I don’t know.   Filing charges against Barry would add credibility to Dunham’s story.  Here’s another scenario that would add credibility: If the Shrilldabeast runs, will Dunham be an active voice for silent rape victims like herself and, say, Juanita Broderick?

Cruz amendment

Love Ted Cruz.  Love his amendment that is more an affirmation of the 10th Amendment than of traditional marriage.  The problem is how many more amendments like Cruz’s will be required to keep unelected unaccountable judges from trampling the 10th Amendment?
