Botched execution
The state of OK botched the execution of convicted murderer Clayton Lockett. Is botched the right word? After all Lockett did end up dead, which was the intent. So… Well anyway, Lockett probably deserved to die for the heinous way he killed his victim Stephanie Neiman – burying her alive. The ruling class has their shorts in a wad because Lockett suffered a bit before dying. Some people’s reaction to that news is - good.
The investigation into Lockett’s death centers on the drug cocktail used in the lethal injection. That reminds me of the SNL skit where all of the James Bond 007 villains are on a panel. The question comes up, what would you do differently? One says, "Just kill him. No shark tanks. No slow moving death rays. No tying him to the tracks for the next train to run him over. Just kill him." The others agree. If SNL can figure this out, why can’t the swells in government?
Why do we have these Rube Goldberg drug cocktails? For goodness sake we can put a man on the moon but we can’t kill a criminal who desperately needs it. I read a while back the most effective and humane way to kill a person is carbon monoxide poisoning. The guy just goes to sleep and dies. Just kill them. Strap them in the back seat of a car, run a $3 garden hose from the exhaust through a window and start the engine. Is that not high-tech enough? No high suspense pictures of plungers of different colored drugs being administered to the prisoner. To paraphrase

The lowest wage for me, not including the forced labor imposed by my parents, was 25 cents/hour. I was 13 years old. I moved dirt for Goldie Shaw, mother of Damon Shaw Jewelry, in CW, Ohio. I worked 40 hours per week for four straight weeks, praying for football two-a-day practices to start. The experience was never forgotten. To this day I cannot see a wheel barrow and not think of it and not cringe. At that age I did not know what a career was, but I did know it not be in moving dirt. I support no minimum wage. 99% of people getting a minimum wage are teenagers and students. Making a subsistence living flipping burgers should not a societal goal. It should be to teach a young person how to make a good burger, interact with others, and NOT to be able to subsist. Life's lessons are hard and best learned young. Burger flipping was never meant to be the end of one's career path, getting overpaid, and creating more unemployment for 16-20 year olds.
