Libs in perfect harmony

Joseph Gobbles would be agog at the how the left can within minutes get its entire propaganda machine singing to the same tune. The ripples in the murky waters of the Mississippi had not reached the far bank after the bridge collapse in Minnesota before Libs were singing in perfect harmony that the bridge fell because of money spent in Iraq.

Let me just say that anybody whose budget approximates three trillion dollars is not suffering from a lack of money to do anything. It’s not a shortage of tax dollars. It’s how the absolute losers in Washington chose to spend those tax dollars. For instance, Jack Murtha scored $150 million dollars in pork projects. It’s a bipartisan issue. Trent doesn’t think a Lott, wants to spend $700 million tearing up a rail line in Mississippi that the railroad has just spent $300 million repairing. The government wastes your tax money on everything from subsidizing sports stadiums for billionaire team owners to providing funding for tasteless art work produced by no talent artists who couldn’t paint an outhouse.

Now the lefties are in high dudgeon over a single bridge collapsing for as yet undetermined reasons. How ironic would it be if the collapse is determined to have been caused by the repairs being performed on the bridge? What could we draw from that lesson? Better to let the infrastructure crumble on its own than try to fix it and destroy it in the process.

So the Libs think it’s perfectly acceptable to spend $14 billion dollars on the Big Dig in Boston, watching it collapse, and then spending hundreds of millions more to do the job right but cringe at spending money to fight a war on Islamo-Terror-Fascists. And while most people would agree that the US has strategic interests in the Middle East, the MSM and Libs would have us believe it is far better to build a bridge to nowhere for an arrogant sleazy AK senator than to fix the bridges we already have or confront the ITF in the Middle East.

So, Libs tell the big LIE: while al Qaeda was organizing in every corner of the world, they never were in Iraq in before the war. Well, al Qaeda is undeniably in Iraq now, but Libs extorted 21 BILLION in pork in exchange for sending the president a relatively clean Iraq spending bill. Then there’s the latest dust in the house where apparently Libs think we have enough money to pay for housing and education subsidies to ILLEGAL ALLIENS but we don’t have enough to fix the bridges. The idea that there is not enough money to fix the infrastructure is laughable. It’s not the money. It’s the backassward priorities set by dopes in Washington.

Then there is this. 15.5% of the transportation tax goes to mass transit. That’s right, 15.5% of your gas taxes and other fees go to running empty bus lines, building riderless money losing light rail lines and propping up AMTRAC. When is the last time you rode a city bus? Did you enjoy the experience?

So a bridge falls into a river, as bridges are wont to do every 25 years or so, and Libs go nuts “THE INFRASTRUCTURE IS FALLING APART!!” Well it isn’t. And even if it were, it’s a matter of setting priorities not raising taxes or quitting the war against the Islamo-Terror-Fascists trying to kill us all much faster than collapsing bridges could ever do the job.

Something happened late last night in the House of Representatives that hasn’t made the papers. The Politico is reporting a huge blow up between Dems and Reps. The issue that caused the blow up was an immigration bill motion to bar undocumented immigrants from receiving any federal funds apportioned in the agricultural spending bill for employment or rental assistance. The motion was passed 215-213. Dems hold about a 30 seat majority in the house. So, 17 or so Democrats had to side with Republicans in passing this bill. If even one Republican sides with the Democrats on a measure, our heroic MSM never fails to call it a bipartisan agreement - that’s if even just one Republican crossed the line to vote with Democrats. Here we have about 17 Dems crossing over.

The Democrat leadership, not happy with the outcome, took a page from Stalin and simply closed the vote; called it tie; said the motion failed and expunged records of the vote. One wonders how such a thing could happen in America. What’s next, bridges collapsing into the Mississippi?

Rudy has been hitting Democrats hard on their tax and spend philosophy of government – that is when they aren’t shutting that government down when a vote doesn’t go their way.
He’s been hitting them on their isolationist tactics for waging the war on terror – that is when Dems aren’t advocating invading our coalition partners. He has pegged their healthcare plans as socialized medicine while offering a pro private payer system himself. He has pulled well ahead of the Republican field and stands one point ahead or behind of any Democrat candidate in the polls. He is capable of contesting every state in the union to include NY and CA. So what’s the down side? Hmmm, I’m thinking.

Actually, bridges collapsing are not all that rare an occurrence. When a cable station started to list the history of bridge failures in the US, the report went on for some time. We don’t know what caused this collapse. One theory a local guy posited was that bridge repair crews didn’t allow for enough room for the expansion of the concrete that they were pouring. When the concrete expanded, it knocked the bridge off its pilings.

Hmm, sounds plausible. It is a bit odd that the bridge was undergoing repair at the time of the failure.

First order of business, a military strike against your coalition partner

Barack Obama, or as he’s known on the Rush Limbaugh show, Barack the magic negro, sung to the tune of Puff the Magic Dragon, in the voice of Al Sharpton singing through a bullhorn, has said that he’d offer the world’s thugs, dictators and madmen the courtesy and prestige of a high level meeting with him as President of the United States in his first year in office. Yea, yea, I know the JFK quote – never negotiate out of fear, never fear to negotiate. But what really do you say to Kim Jung Il?

Look, Kim baby, you got millions of people starving right now. There's more food at the Ft. Wayne Holiday Inn’s continental breakfast than you have in your entire miserable country. Have you see this satellite picture of your backward-ass country at night. Look, no lights Kim baby. None. Lex jr. has more light coming from his three cell flashlight on camp out than your whole country. Kim, baby, look I know how it feels to be duped. I kept my beta VCR player and tapes for years waiting for beta to make its big comeback, I had to let go. You need to let go of this idea that communism equals utopia. It ain’t happinin baby.

So what’s the worse that can happen? You waste some fuel flying over there; you get to see a nice flag show; you appear in a couple of hundred carefully staged propaganda shots and waste more fuel flying home. At the end of the day nothing too Earth shattering.

But even before the CO2 emission from Barack’s statement on meeting with thugs had a chance to contribute to global warming, the magic Negro said he’d send troops into Pakistan. So we’re going to pow wow with our enemies and invade our coalition partners? Is that right? Hey makes sense to me. Let’s bomb England next. They are our best ally. Let’s get them first. Besides, I never could stand those limey bastards over in England ever since a nasty hang over from too much Beefeaters Gin and tonic.

Finally a politician who understands Sun Tsu’s advice to keep your enemies close and invade your friends. No wait, that’s not right – keep your friends close – so you can stab them in the back – and enemies closer - so you can negotiate with them. Barack Obama; just another serious Democrat candidate running for President of the United States. When he loses, it won’t be because he’s an inexperienced fool; it’ll be because America is a racists country unwilling to give a magic Negro a chance.

Body counts

I have not been to Iraq. I don’t even play someone who has on TV. I don’t even know anyone in a high level position in Iraq. So what follows may well be wrong, but after all this page is about “the truth I see it” not how it is. Hopefully, more times than not, the two are one in the same.

There is great ballyhoo over the number of US casualties in Iraq dropping precipitously this month. It’s hard to look at the numbers and not see good news. I look at the numbers and wonder what’s up. I’ve often said that more troops will lead to more casualties. That’s particularly true when those troops begin to squeeze the enemy. Well we have more troops and they are squeezing enemy - hard. We know that this is a ruthless and clever enemy capable of adjusting his tactics quickly. So, where are the casualties?

Here are a few explanations:

First, our constant pressure on the enemy’s command control have placed us so far inside his decision cycle that he cannot mount a coordinated attack. There is the famous OODA Loop – Observe – Orient - Decide – Act, which describes combat decision making by leaders. It is possible that the al Qaeda leadership in Iraq is under so much pressure just to survive day-to-day that it cannot observe what is happening, orient on a coalition weak point, decide how to attack the weakness or muster forces necessary to act on that weakness. As a result, we see scattered uncoordinated attacks with no strategy other than inflicting pain and suffering on civilians at soft targets.

Next, the enemy may have reached a culminating point (CP). A CP is when a military force has used up a good portion of his men and or material and needs to regroup. We know that early on in the surge the enemy resisted in a big way. That resistance may have caused him to use up an inordinate amount of his men and or material. If that’s the case, we will see him regroup, rest and rearm for a new round shortly. What would be useful at this point is to know what kind of enemy body count we are achieving. If we are routing them and rolling them up, enemy body counts should be high. If he's resting and hiding, the count would be lower. We don’t play the enemy body count game anymore, so it’s hard to know.

Last, the enemy is simply husbanding resources for an all out push at the right time. Think of a Tet Offensive type maneuver. This is exactly what I’d be doing. Were I bin Laden, I could easily see that a poor US Army September report is what my allies in the Democrat controlled congress need to pull US troops from my most important front. I know I cannot beat the US in a straight up fight, so I pull back until about mid-August. Then I let loose with everything that I have. I kill, maim and blow up everything in sight just in time for the congressional hearings. It doesn’t matter if I win or lose this last big push. It didn’t matter in Vietnam when the Tet Offensive failed miserably. The center of gravity in this fight is not the US military. It is US public opinion and the Democrat controlled congress.

Trust me, if I’ve considered the last scenario, so have the great minds on the coalition staff. The way to defeat such a strategy is by increasing pressure on enemy supply lines, hide outs and recruiting; disrupting enemy cells and communications in every manner possible; getting inside his OODA Loop, and not allowing him to plan and coordinate. Such efforts should cause increased coalition and enemy casualties.

But that’s where we came into this piece.

One answer idiots

How would you have liked to have taken a test where every answer was the same no matter what the question? Let’s say ten is the answer. The first question, 5+5=? Ten works pretty well. Next, who is the President of the United States? Ten, you reply confidently. What is the capital of Montana? Ten again, who knew? And everyone sits silently nodding with certainty that ten is the obvious and only answer to every question. Nobody stands up and says, you whooo, I gotta problem with that one. It gets pretty ridiculous pretty fast. Well let’s change the answer to “global warming” and apply the same logic.

If Phoenix, AZ gets hot during the summer, eco nuts blame global warming. If it rains too much in Texas, it’s global warming. If it doesn’t rain enough in Ft. Wayne, IN, it’s global warming. If ice falls from the sky, it’s global warming. If we have an unusually long or cold winter, it’s global warming. If it snows in April in Ft. Wayne, it’s global warming. If a great white shark shows up in the waters off of Great Britain, it’s global warming.

How can you lose an argument when no matter what happens, it’s agreed that global warming is the cause. I watched a History Channel show on the Little Ice Age (LIA 1650-1850). Trust me. We’d be far better off with a warming period rather than a cooling period. But a couple of points sprang out. The LIA sprung upon the world in very short order – about a decade – and ran the Vikings out of Greenland. Now, as the two people who visit this page regularly know, Lex has been asking the global warming crowd to explain how the Vikings were able farm Greenland before man’s insensitivity to Earth by the widespread use of the internal combustion engine. What exactly caused THAT warming? Could we be in another similar warming period?

Well at the end of the show many climatologists sensed we were closer to the start of a new LIA than an Armageddon by global warming. But guess what eco nuts blamed the coming LIA on? Drum roll please…you guessed it – global warming. How can you lose? No matter what happens to the Earth’s temperatures, it’s caused by global warming. Let’s change the answer to all questions on global temperatures to one of the following:

We don’t know.
The sun.
The Earth is always evolving.

After all, everybody prefers a multiple choice test.

Debating the debates

After the Democrat CNN/You Tube debate debacle, Republicans are thinking of opting out of that debate format. That’s probably a bad move. They should go. If given a question from a talking snowman, the candidate should look into the camera and say, what was that? We’re running for President of the United States not prom king. The only thing dumber than that question is the CNN idiot who decided to air it. Then use the rest of the time to blather on about global warming being a figment of the far left’s anti-capitalists closed mind.

When asked why Fred Thompson hasn’t gotten into the race “officially” yet, the answer is obvious, so he doesn’t have to stand on stage with nine other candidates for two hours to get a chance to talk for seven minutes answering questions from talking snowmen. Who’s looking more presidential right now? Any of the nine guys standing on stage being harassed by known nothing Chris Matthews and then being critiqued by an even lower class Keith Olbermann? Or a candidate traveling about the country getting his message out without being spit on by an over wrought hyperventilating Matthews?

The Republican Party ought to step in and say we’re going to sponsor and run the rest of the Republican debates. The format will be a round robin of nine two hour debates with each candidate debating one–on-one the others. Debates will occur on Tuesdays and Thursdays until the round robin is complete, which will be well before the first primary. The debates will occur in every region of the country. Candidates will agree upon a moderator before the debate. The moderator’s role will be to guide the discussion of the two candidates through two key issues which will be debated during that session.

Issues will include but not be limited to:
The Iraq war
The war on Terror
Immigration reform
Social Security reform
The role of district courts and judicial activism
The economy
Race in America
Foreign relations

Serious people talking serious issues. No Chris Matthews', would it be good for America to have Bill Clinton back in the White House, boxers or brief, or other idiocy like questions from talking snowmen to detract from the candidates.

"Free" healthcare a near certainty

The next big thing that will break the American taxpayer financially is “free” healthcare. I think this going to happen because we are becoming an older and, except for minorities, childless society. Far left loon Michael Moore’s new movie Sicko touts universal health care. Even people who blast the government for its inefficiency in nearly every other endeavor, think Moore has a point when it comes to healthcare.

I had a conversation with a friend who complained about the American healthcare system. It was odd because I happened to know that he and his family were well covered. So I began asking questions. It turns out that he wasn’t worried about himself but rather his aging parents. So I asked this rather well to do guy why he and his siblings didn’t step in and cover the cost of insurance for his parents. Too poor? No. No insurance available? No. Why? Turns out, he just didn’t think he ought to have to. I asked, well if he didn’t think it was his responsibility to care for his parents, how could he possibly think it was mine? His response was that a country like America ought to provide “free” healthcare to seniors.

Hmm, just because you live long enough, healthcare should be “free”? What else? How about a “free” condo in Florida, a new Town Car and “free” early bird specials at the nearest Denny’s? One of the greatest lines ever from a Movie was from Dolly Parton in the movie Straight Talk. Parton is a country gal who lands a New York radio talk show gig as therapist though she has no training as a therapist. She proceeds to dispense common sense country advice to callers to deal with their problems. When a man calls in to complain about having to care for his aged mother, Parton calls him out and says something like, “I don’t know why mamma can take care of six kids, but six kids can’t take care of mamma.”

Well a confiscatory tax code and materialism have made a family with six kids pretty much a thing of the past. So the burden of “taking care of mamma” is falling on fewer and fewer siblings. Those siblings, faced with their own confiscatory taxes and materialism, like my friend, don’t want to "waste" their resources “taking care of mamma”. So, they are quite happy to push those costs off onto their neighbors under the guise of “free” healthcare. There are a growing number people who will fall into this category as our population ages and fewer and fewer children are born. As this demographic shift occurs, it is going to become more and more popular to vote mamma’s healthcare costs off onto the rest of us.

And don’t even get me started on the 12-20 million illegal aliens that the Democrats want to make "insta-citizens". Illegal workers living 15-20 to a single family dwelling who send 95% of everything they make back to Mexico are probably not spending any part of the remaining 5% on healthcare insurance. So the same guys who weep and moan about 40 million uninsured Americans are going to be the same guys who vote to make that number 60 million. When Democrats and Republicrats make all of those illegals legal citizens with the stroke of a pen, those new “insta-citizens” will vote to raid your wallet.

BUSH: Just when you’re about ready to throw in the towel on this guy, he shows up in Charleston, SC and delivers a stem winder on the war on terror. He reminded us and the Dems that al Qaeda was bombing us and blowing up our people, buildings and planes long before we ever entered Iraq. VICK: Were it not for creepy prosecutors like Nifong, Fitzgerald and Sutton, I’d be outraged with Michael Vick. THE DEBATE: Didn’t watch it. Best comment on the inane questions and format that I’ve heard so far comes from some guy who runs a You Tube site called Drinking With Bob. Bob opines, “What? You gotta be kidding me! What kind of crap was that? We’re electing the President of the United States, not the President of JFK Middle School for crying out loud.” Dems won't go on Fox the most popular cable network in the world, but they'll pander to You Tube, Daily KOs and the gay rights activist. Hmmm, why is that?

CHURCHILL: What an utter dope. He gets canned from UC for lying and plagiarizing but claims his free speech rights are being violated. Free speech was his whole problem. Had just kept his (or as it turns out other people’s) idiotic opinions to himself he wouldn’t have been trouble. Apparently to Churchill stealing other people’s work and claiming it as your own violates HIS free speech. To Churchill a university demanding that its faculty back up their claims - outrageous and otherwise - with proof is an effort to squash free speech rather than an attempt to achieve academic excellence, credibility and sanity. Churchill is the poster boy for why universities should abandon the tenure system.

JOHN DOE: Fearing an immigration type revolt, Dems have backtracked on the provision which would protect John Doe from frivolous law suite when reporting suspicious activities. The John Doe provision has been placed back into the latest homeland security bill.

GRAHAMNESTY: In an attempt to save himself from SC voters, Lindsey Grahamnesty is authoring a bill that would require the government to secure the border before dealing with amnesty (or as Grahamnesty says “other issues”). Too late in my opinion. Lex has six words for comprehensive immigration reform. Secure the border. Enforce the law. We don’t need a bunch new legislation. Secure the border. Enforce the law. If the good people of SC give this snake oil salesman another chance, they will get what they deserve in second term, when not faced with re-election for six years, he will stab them in the back. Can Grahamnesty.

Order of the Phoenix metaphor for today's politics

I took young Lex to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last Saturday. The movie was OK. Like everything Hollywood puts out these days, it seemed about 20 minutes too long, but Lex jr. liked it a lot.

The more I’ve thought about the plot though the more it seems a metaphor for current day politics in America. You have brave young people Harry, Don and Hermione (or in our case our troops) led by a serious a capable headmaster Dumbledore (or in our case our president) battling dark forces Lord Voldemort (or in our case Islamo-terror-fascists) that no one else can or even wants to see. The press, a paper called The Daily Prophet (or in our case our MSM), lines up against the headmaster and the brave young heroes battling evil and is successful in portraying them as the villains (or in our case our MSM obsessing on every car bomb and calling Bush a liar and ourown troops criminals).

A legislative body known as The Ministry of Magic (or in our case the current congress) led by the opportunistic and self serving idiot named Cornlius Fudge (or in our case Harry Reid) with the collective body’s head buried in the sand (or in our case up its butt) denies the existence of the evil Lord Voldemort and makes matters worse by interfering with those who would engage the serious threat to the world of wizardry (or in our case our very existence with 100s of pointless investigations and meaningless legislation that have at the same time not ended the war but have had the effect of demoralizing our own troops while emboldening the enemy.).

The Ministry goes so far as to install a woman in pink named Dolores Umbridge (or in our case Hillary Clinton) to take over as headmaster (or in our case president). Things predictably go south rather quickly as headmaster Umbridge enacts strict, pointless rules designed to punish achievers and move slacker into positions of power (or in case advance the nanny state through universal healthcare and other failed socialists policies while advancing lay abouts to respectability).

Of course evil doesn’t rest and after a student revolt (or in our case a taxpayer revolt) Voldemort again raises his ugly head (in our case unfortunately another ITF attack on the homeland). He is almost successful in destroying the forces of good. In the effort Voldemort is exposed to the masses before he escapes to fight another day. Once the forces of evil are exposed, Umbridge is sacked as headmaster (or in our case no second term for Hillary) and the good wizards are united for the future fight. At the end of the movie Harry is confident of victory because as he put it, “we have something to fight for.”

I suppose that’s true in our own case as well. The question is whether or not we can pull ourselves away from our 401Ks, the rising stock market, the latest scandal involving Lindsey Lohan, Barry Bonds, Michael Vick or Homer Simpson to give a crap.

The new Democrat talking point on the Iraq war is “how long”. The answer is obvious but I’ve not heard it articulated. The answer is “As long as it takes; as long as there is an American strategic interest in the Middle East; as long as al Qaeda wants us to kill them there as opposed to some other corner of the world.”

Kerry needs a little re-education

As the astute readers of this page noticed, I was absent on Friday last week. As a result of a well deserved day off, I missed another John Kerry gem and only stumbled upon today while digging around on Al Gore’s Internet invention. While on C-Span last week Kerry got this from a caller worried about abandoning Iraq:

"I remember the horrible killings after Vietnam with the boat people coming over here, and I really hate to go off and leave our allies over in Iraq, and I am concerned about that."

Kerry’s unfathomable answer was:

“Let me just say to the first part of your question with respect to boat people and killing, everybody predicted a massive bloodbath in Vietnam. There was not a massive bloodbath in Vietnam. There were reeducation camps, and they weren't pretty and, you know, nobody, you know, likes that kind of outcome. But on the other hand, I've met lot of people today who were in those education camps, who are thriving in the Vietnam of today.”

This is why it’s hard to argue with a Liberal, they live in their own alternate universe with their own made up facts. After the communist take over in Vietnam, tens of thousands were killed (Hmm in lib speak that would be a bloodbath were it happening in a place like Darfur but it’s not a bloodbath when it happened in Vietnam as a result of another Democrat surrender.), 100 thousands more fled by boat many dying at sea in their escape attempt, and 100s of thousands more were re-educated. The Montagnards are being persecuted to this very day. And don’t forget about the two million dead Cambodians along with 41 US service members killed during the Mayaguez incident when the Communist Cambodia domino fell as a result of the Democrat surrender in Vietnam.

But let’s just pretend Kerry got his facts straight and admitted their was a bloodbath in the aftermath of the Democrat Congress surrendering of US interests in Vietnam, how does one talk about people coming out of communist re-education camps and “thriving…today” while condemning your own country’s handling of enemy POWs and non-combatant enemy POWs in our current war on terror? What’s Kerry saying:

“Well you know the US treatment of these poor Islamo-terror-fascists caught trying to kill Americans is just outrageous. We should take a lesson from our Vietnamese comrades and re-educate the Islamo-terror-fascists. That way in 20-25 years they’ll be able to thrive just as the Vietnamese abandoned by the Democrat Congress are thriving in Vietnam today. As my friends the Vietnamese Communists showed us, all it takes is 25 years of brainwashing, prison and torture, uh er, uhmm, re-education that is.”

The Racists blame talk radio

While Johnny Sutton is busy using a jury trial to give a thin veil of legitimacy to his efforts in locking up border patrol agents for doing their jobs, his best friends over in La Raza, or The Race for those of us who still have to press one for English, are busy trying to silence talk radio. We’ve already got FitzFong by combining the two most over zealous prosecutors of our day, so what to do with Johnny Sutton? I guess FitzFong will have to morph into Johnny FitzFong to accommodate Sutton.

Johnny has been on the radio and TV circuit as well as Capitol Hill defending his prosecution of border agents Ramos and Campion. The two were found guilty by a jury of their peers for shooting an unarmed man goes Johnny’s argument. Hmm, OJ was found not guilty, so much for the infallibility and even handedness of some juries. If Johnny’s case was so strong why did he give an illegal dope smuggling gun toting felon immunity to testify as his key witness? Why was all evidence of the dope smugglers activities during and after the shooting suppressed? Why wasn’t the dope smugglers own mother allowed to testify AGAINST her son? Why are the subsequent dope smuggling activities of Johnny’s key witness being hidden away in a file marked “secret”? When his key witness used his immunity deal and the legal status that allowed him free passage across our borders to try to smuggle in more dope, shouldn’t honest Johnny have rescinded the immunity and prosecuted his star witness – or at a minimum informed the judge and defense team that there was a problem with his star witness?

While Johnny attacks those assigned to guard our borders his buddies over at La Raza are taking on talk radio for creating the bunch of “racist haters” that stopped the last Grhamnesty bill in the senate. Only in America can a group literally called The Race go around calling others racists and be given legitimacy and moral authority by the MSM. Just a few things about The Race or as Lex likes call them The Racists:

They are closely aligned with MECHa which is a racist and separatist organization.

The Racists slogan: “"For La Raza to do. Fuera de La Raza nada" Again pressing one for English we find this means “For the community everything, outside the community nothing.”

The Racists goal: Segregate regions of America for Hispanics only or return them to Mexico.

So The Racists are claiming that talk radio is responsible for 80% of Americans rising up against the Grhamnesty bill. 80% of Americans can’t agree that the sun rises in the East, particularly if George Bush tells them it does, but somehow we get the Grhamnesty bill right and it’s talk radio’s fault? I don’t think so.

Now, let’s throw this into the mix. The next time the civilian organization that guards our borders known as The Minute Men calls in an illegal crossing, they can be sued by The Racists. The same is true if you report wires protruding from the trousers of the Arabic speaking man standing in front of you at the check-in line at the airport. Democrats, not content with losing the fight overseas, want to lose the fight in the homeland as well. They blocked the John Doe provision of the latest Homeland Security Bill that would have protected the average citizen who reports suspicious activities from being harassed with frivolous law suites by anti-American groups such as The Racists and CAIR.

Dems stay late accomplish nothing

Did you ever stay up all night to get something done? College students brag about “pulling all nighters” to finish a term paper. Mom stays up all night putting the finishing touches on sissy’s prom dress. Dad stays up all night during the storm listening for the sump pump making sure the basement doesn’t flood. In the dawn’s early light there is usually something to show for the effort – a term paper, a prom dress, a dry basement.

How silly would you feel if you stayed up all night to do a term paper and in the morning all you had to show for the effort were a bunch of “The Shining” like typed pages? What if you stayed up all night to work on sissy’s dress but did not accomplish a thing because you could not decide between pink or purple flowers? What if dad, stayed up to make sure the sump pump kept up with the storm then stood by with a cup of coffee as the water in the basement rose around his ankles?

Well our luminaries in the US Senate held an all nighter to end the war. Senator Mitch McConnell let the Senate “Leader”, Harry Reid, know he could hold the vote whenever he wanted, as many times as he wanted and it would be defeated each and every time. Harry, more a tuned to crooked land deals than running the senate, rolled the mattresses and pizza into the senate and declared that the senate, at tax payer expense would stay all night debating the bill. In the morning nothing had been accomplished. Most of us would be embarrassed at the stupidity and futility of our efforts, Democrats wear it as badge of honor.

Remember Harry Reid:
Declared the war lost while US troops were still in harms way. He and his ilk can end the war today by cutting off funding. They have made no effort to do so. They prefer to run the congress like a bleach blond, Paris Hilton, California Valley Girl - all show but no substance.

Harry demanded a new strategy and when the president gave him one, Harry declared the effort a failure before it started.

This is all political theater. I suppose one cannot call the leader of the US Senate a treasonous, lying, double dealing, hypocrite, bastard, but it is difficult conceive how he’d be acting differently if he were.

California will be the next eco disaster

Sorry, a late post today. Lex is still recovering from travel from the left coast yesterday. Except for the traffic, crowds and even loonier billboards, California - or as the Govinator calls it Culleeforneea - is pretty much as I left it in 1992. The weather, scenes and people are all beautiful.

I heard a radio station urging people to discard their old incandescent light bulbs for energy efficient neon ones. The ad made no mention of the dangerous mercury content in neon light bulbs or how one should go about disposing of them in an environmentally sound way.

So I thought, that will be the next big environmental disaster. Tens of millions of people will switch to neon lights – very few of which are produced in the US by the way. Over the next couple of decades these lights will be discarded in the usual haphazard manner. Then the same eco kooks urging us to use these things will be complaining because the Chinese have created an inferior bulb that will not burn as long and has 80 times the mercury content. Then the large scale use and disposal of those bulbs will have mercury seeping into our ground water.

Then there were the enviro cars. These came in two varieties. First were the hybrids which can run on fuel which charges a battery which when convenient is used to power the car instead of gasoline. The others were “flex fuel” cars which I suppose used the famous (if you’re a farmer) or infamous (if you have to buy your milk from the grocery) E85 ethanol. The two had one thing in common, each had some sticker from the manufacturer declaring the auto eco friendly. It reminded me of drivers vain enough to put one of those “My child is honor student at the Dim Wit Academy” stickers on their bumper.

My first thought when I saw one was, what dopey looking car. The next thought was, it’ll never take a checkered flag at Talladega in a Nextel race. Then there was the concern about millions upon millions of worn out hybrid batteries. What do we do with all of those? And when you have to replace the batteries every 3-4 years any money in fuel savings will probably be out the window. You’ll have to pay for new batteries and disposal of the old ones. Then all of the battery acid, lead and plastic contained in each battery is sure to create a new eco disaster in and of itself.

Then there’s the whole ethanol thing. Mark Steyn has written that we will go down as the dumbest people in the history of the planet for burning food in our autos. Yes while people are starving, environmental whackos think it’s a good thing that food should cost more and more so that they can pay 4 times what a car should cost because it burns food instead of oil. Oh yeah, and so they can sit in an LA traffic jam with one of those terribly clever “I’m better than you because I drive an eco friendly car” stickers on their uglyass auto. When milk gets to be $6 a gallon, I predict having an identifier on your car that indicates it burns E85 is more likely to get you the finger than praise from your fellow drivers. God must be looking down shaking His head thinking, I’ve given them everything they need, but they refuse to use it for the purpose for which it was created.

Don’t even get me started on nuclear.

We cannot have 535 Commanders in Chief

Well everyone has an idea on how we should or should have fought the war in Iraq. I have my own ideas and if I were president, we’d have long ago been engaged in Syria and then, if necessary, Iran. That strategy no doubt would have led to greater casualties and expense, but just wait and see if we don’t end up fighting them down the road at a much greater price in blood and treasure.

Harry Reid would have fought the war much differently as well. He called for more troops in Iraq right up to the point that president agreed. Then ‘ol dirty land deal Harry changed his mind and thought it a bad idea to follow his advice. But Harry knows that few listen to him and those that do either have short memories or will expect him tack against the president every time – even when the president agrees with him.

Some want to secure the interior of Iraq and thus the surge. Others think the bright thing to do would be seal the borders and let the Iraqis kill each other in the interior. With the exception of letting the Iraqis kill each other, they are both right. Some want to partition the country. Some want a “slow bleed”. Some want to declare victory and leave immediately. Others want to admit defeat and leave immediately.

The point is every one from Joe S*&t the rag man to Ned the wino has an idea of how to fight the war. All of this points out the brilliance of the founders. They made the president the chief executive of the United States and Commander and Chief of the armed forces. They knew what Harry and the other 534 arm chair generals sitting in congress cannot or will not admit. Only one man can be Commander in Chief.

Bush - for better or worse - is that man. He was re-elected after the war had started and the people, knowing what they were getting into and by a rather large margin – 4 million votes, decide he was the best man among available candidates to act as Commander of the armed forces. When President Clinton was being impeached, Democrats wailed that the Republicans were trying to overturn the election. Well the exact same argument can be made when Democrats propose one piece of legislation after another that undermines the authority of the Commander in Chief.

And oh by the way, what a bunch of whiners. This war by most standards of conflict has not gone that badly. War is hell. By comparison there was report on TV last night about the Mexican Army squaring off against the drug cartels there. The result has been over 3,000 casualties in just two years. I don’t know if the Mexican MSM has news flashes every time someone is killed or a car explodes.

Then there’s the, we’re here to support the troops crowd. OK the troops have been engaged in Iraq for five years. All the while the retention numbers are up and all of the services met recruiting goals this quarter. A bit odd given the coverage of the war by the MSM don’t you think? Yet, Box o’ Rocks Hagle, Jim Webb, and nearly everyone else is trying to screw them out of a victory in Iraq all in the name of supporting the troops. That’s sort of like a coach who throws in the towel and forfeits a game in the middle of the third quarter when his team is about to increase its lead. In the press conference after the game the coach explains that he supports the players and didn’t want anyone to get hurt.

NOTE: Things worked out so well during the last vacation that I’m going to be gone Mon & Tue next week. I look at it as just doing my share for the cause. Maybe we'll kill UBL.

Congress has been on a roll; who knew?

HOLD THE PRESSES, alert the media, call Ripley’s Believe it or Not, Lex was wrong. In the post two below, Lex noted that the ONLY thing the congress has been able to accomplish under Democrat uh uhmm “leadership” is a meager minimum wage increase. That’s wrong. It’s the first time Lex’s been wrong since 1974 - that's when I thought for just a second that I was wrong but it turned out that I was right.

The Griffin reminds me that in addition to the minimum wage, the Democrats have initiated over 300 investigations of the Bush administration. They are investigating everything from the firing of eight lawyers, hired for political purposes, who were then fired for political purpose to the half-pardon of Scooter Libby. While our borders remain unsecured, hordes of illegal aliens close emergency rooms and bankrupt schools, American troops display skill and courage in Iraq, Islamo-terror-fascists continue to plot to blow us all up and Social Security gets another day closer to going broke, our heroes in congress are busy bettering our lives by investigating why the Surgeon General, another political appointment, was subjected to political scrutiny. I guess when the Democrats discover that political appointees are expected to tow the administration’s political line the fur will really fly and the impeachment proceeding can begin. Then we can all breath a sigh of relief that our congress is looking after the really important business of the people.

One more round of charades before summer vacation

Here we go again. Congress must be back in session because all we are hearing about is how Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are going to end the war by Apr – that’s April next year I presume. Seems like a tall order for a bunch of bureaucrats whose only accomplishment to date is raising the minimum wage to cover the price of McDonalds Happy Meal – and even that is phased in over two years, was off-set with employer tax benefits and even then had to be attached to the more or less clean Iraq war funding bill that the president demanded.

MSM boobs cannot do a story on something as simple as the age old “it’s hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalks of Phoenix today” without mentioning Bush’s anemic approval ratings – ratings, by the way, that have crept up bit since the Libby half-pardon. But seldom is heard a word - discouraging or otherwise - about the Nance and Harry's 14% approval rating. Congress would die to be as popular among fellow Americans as the president.

Watching these two hapless half wits – who together I guess would make a full wit – is humorous. The left hates ‘em because they can’t pull out Iraq fast enough and the right never did trust them. So in an effort to appease the looniest of the left wing, Nance and Harry double up on the swaying back of poor ‘ol Rocinante and tilt at the “end the war now” windmill. This makes an uncountable number of bills, resolutions, Pictionary art, charades and Etch-a-sketch drawings produced by Nance and Harry designed to fool the lunatic left into believing that they are doing something productive to end the war. Each in turn goes exactly nowhere.

These latest efforts, however, stink much worse than most. With a summer vacation that any working stiff would die for fast approaching, Nance and Harry have to get this latest round of charades in before jetting off to coddle another of the world’s despicable terrorist dictators or close on another crooked land deal. Even as our troops struggle facing the enemy in 120 degree heat in time honored American tradition to win the nation’s wars, Nance and Harry play charades and undermine that mission.

General David Petraeus, after the announcement of the surge strategy, was confirmed by the Democrat controlled senate unanimously – for those public school grads out there that means nobody voted against confirming the general based on his record, reputation or the proposed strategy for Iraq. Ohio’s biggest cry baby, Republirat George Voinovich, didn’t even whimper. Now, just over a month into the new strategy, Harry is calling the general incompetent. Democrats are declaring the new strategy a failure. And a new round of screw the troops and embolden the enemy resolutions are being rushed to the floors of both houses to satisfy the leftiest of the left wing base before summer vacation. Each in turn will go exactly nowhere.

You would think that these left wing toads would give the guy they voted to confirm – and thereby the guy’s strategy – at least the chance of success before undermining his authority among his staff and men by calling that strategy a failure and the guy incompetent. You’d be wrong. Nance and Harry cannot allow the strategy or the guy to succeed. They are too heavily invested in America’s defeat. And that is the reason 86% of their fellow Americas wouldn’t trust them to walk the dog our even water the plants.

Now that the debate is over, global warming deniers are traitors

In the early days of trying to stifle debate, the Chicken Littles that comprise 99.98% of the global warming crowd simply assured us that “the debate is over.” They reasoned because several hand picked scientist believed that man made the earth’s temperature rise almost 2 degrees over the last century, everyone else should just shut up and agree.

It almost worked. But science is a funny thing. There is always some crack pot out there trying to disprove long accepted theories. And so it was with global warming. Now the crack pots have amassed mountains of evidence indicating that the earth has always warmed and cooled; and the 2 degree rise over the last century could most likely be attributed to natural warming and cooling caused by things like an overly active sun cycle or cloud cover patterns rather than driving the family sedan to work. Oh NO! The debate is not over.

Then the global warmers tried calling anyone who might dare question their harebrained theories “global warming deniers.” You know like Holocaust deniers. That ought to make them think twice about voicing an opinion contrary to our own, thought the global warming crowd. A crowd, by the way, comprised largely and ironically of pampered hypocrites that own a fleet of SUVs to run to the gate of one of their three or four 138,000 square foot mansions to pick up the mail or take them to the airport where they burn tons of fuel traveling cross country in private jets to pick up a cheeseburger.

This ploy didn’t work either. The hypocrisy of the global warming crowd was just too easy to point out. Let me get this straight - you believe this line of crap yet you use 150 times as much energy in a day as I will use in a year – but you think it’s my job to take the city bus to work? I don’t think so. Then there is the Jewish lobby who rightfully get upset when leftie loons compare anyone who might not share their world view with Hitler and the Nazis. It’s difficult to use this line of argument when there are still survivors of the Holocaust around to say, no George Bush isn’t quite as bad Hitler. And while I may agree with you that the Earth has warmed a bit over the last century, the evidence that man caused that warming is not quite as compelling as the number tattooed on my forearm.

Well now Robert F. Kennedy Jr. ups the ante again when he says this about anyone who questions the junk science of global warming, "This is treason. And we need to start treating them as traitors.” This is interesting. While the left refers to former Clinton National Security Advisor, Sandy Burger, as a disheveled, unorganized screw up to explain away his thievery and destruction of national security documents from the National Achieve and justifies the NYT’s publishing of national security secrets under the public’s “right to know” - they drop a T bomb on anyone brazen enough to point out, “You know, the Earth has gone through several warming and cooling periods in the past. As the matter of fact, one might say that the earth’s temperature is always changing.”

Yet they wonder why we don’t take them seriously.

Lex vacations to good news; what's the next big thing?

Well, well, well, I should go on vacation more often. While I was away:

Comprehensive Grahamnesty went down in flames
The Supremes struck down discrimination of white males
The president half pardoned Libby
McCain's campaign is broke
Not too bad.

I still cannot believe that there is no outrage over Uncle Fester’s stunt double, Richard, little Dick, Armitage’s cowardice. All this slug had to do was hold a presser and say, “I did it. It was a mistake and I regret it, but I will not stand by and let other people’s lives be ruined for something I did.” But microscopic Dick lacked the manly orbs to step up.

So what is the next big thing now that Comprehensive Grahamnesty is smoldering on the ash heap of bad legislation? Well we still need border security and enforcement of current laws. But I think the fire closest to our feet is Iraq. Spineless Republicans, as if there were any other kind, are beginning to jump ship. I’ve fired off e-mails to Lugar, Voinovich, Warner and Domenici. The following is an example:

Dear Senator Voinovich:

I quit the Republican Party over the Comprehensive Amnesty bill. I’m quitting you for your wrong headedness on Iraq. You should start each day by replaying the latest taped message from Ayman al-Zawahiri. While you may want to quit the war, al Qaeda clearly does not.

What is your vision of an Iraq abandoned by America? Mine is one of a safe place for al Qaeda to plan, plot and execute their nefarious deeds using Iraqi petrodollars for the purpose. Does Afghanistan ring a bell?

Kill ‘em where they are senator. If you don’t have the stomach for a tough fight, step aside for someone who does. Your position on this issue reminds me of your position, sans the pathetic tears, on the John Bolton nomination…WRONG.

NOTE: DeWine wasn’t beaten because he was too conservative. He was beaten because conservatives didn’t give one hoot whether he won or lost. The same fate awaits Lindsey Grahamnesty, Chuck Hagle and hopefully you.

Bloomberg not a Republican! What can you trust?

The concrete around which a lot of things I believed were set in crumbled this week.

Michael Bloomberg left the Republican party. The once ultra liberal Democrat turned Republican for the sole purpose of running for Mayor of NY City, has decided that’s not really a Republican. Who knew? So now that dreams of living in a big White House have entered Bloomberg’s mind, NY City’s elected nanny has decided he’s neither an R nor a D. Well that clears it all up. If the Republicans can’t hold a conservative like Bloomberg, I guess all hope’s lost.

Then I’m shocked, SHOCKED to learn that the MSM in this country leans Democrat by a 9-1 margin. Again, who knew? These are the supposedly non-partisan down the middle folks that pick the stories that form the opinions of how the cattle class in America thinks. How could the straight shooters at the NY Times, CNN, ACB, CBS and NBC lean so heavily in one direction? Is anyone in congress looking at some sort of fairness doctrine for the NY Times and the nightly news crowd?

Next, I find out that only about 3% of Americans favor the Comprehensive Amnesty Bill now before the senate. 3%!! Yet, part time talk radio basher and full time weasel Trent - doesn’t–think-a-Lott says they will get the 60 votes necessary to move this abomination out of the senate. How can that be? Who do these people represent anyway? Aren’t they supposed to be making law on behalf of the people? 3% for; 97% against or too stupid to give a damn; but Trent doesn’t-think-a-Lott brags about moving the bill along. What the…?

Then the really hurtful news that the same congress we elected mere months ago has a favorable rating of just 14%. How can that be? No wait. Just read the previous paragraph. That 14% makes sense now.

NOTE: Lex is on the vacation of a lifetime for the next 12 days. Yeah, I know. 12 days whew. As the great Johnny Horton once sang, “North to Alaska, we’re going north the rush is on.” We’ll be traveling the inter-coastal and then going inland. The ship has an “internet café” where I may make post, but given it’s on ship and the rates probably start at $87 a minute, maybe not.

The most important thing is to keep the pressure on the weasels in congress on this amnesty bill. I’m adjusting the two paragraphs above this note to 2nd person and blasting it around to Trent doesn’t-think-a-Lott, Mitch McConnell, Lindsey Grahamnesty et al. We know they have not read this 800 page amnesty, but we don’t know if that’s because they are lazy or illiterate. If they are illiterate, the e-mails will do little good. We may have to start calling their offices.

Adult Stem Cells 76 - Embryonic 0

It has to suck to be Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or any other Democrat in the congress at this point. It looked so easy when they were in the minority and all they had to do was gum things up and talk about how mean and nasty Republicans were. Now with them in charge, congressional approval at an all-time low of 14%. So the grandees of the congress have decided to get things back on track with a little embryonic stem cell legislation. But, as usually happens when someone closes their eyes before swinging the bat, they missed.

First, as has been noted here several times, embryonic stem cell research is not illegal. Harry can use all of his ill gotten land deal money and fund as much embryonic stem cell research as he can afford. So can other loud mouths, whiners and faith healers such as John Edwards. The president has rightly said that it is a bit Dr. Mengele like to create life for the express purpose of then experimenting on it. We as a nation ought not be doing such things.

Then Harry, rushing from one crooked land deal to the next, must have missed the Japanese discovery that ordinary skin cells can be reprogrammed so that they can become the equivalent of embryonic stem cells. Damn those Japanese!

Then there is this, adult stem cells are currently – yes right now, today, as we speak and breath – being used in upwards of 76 different treatments providing hope for those suffering from spinal cord injuries, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, diabetes, lupus, Crohn's disease, ocular degeneration, blindness, heart disease, leukemia, non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, aplastic anemia, and sickle cell anemia.

Embryonic stem cells are currently - yes right now, today, as we speak and breath – providing hope for those suffering from NOTHING. Well how can that be. All the hype. All the Harry hysterics. Certainly embryonic stem cells are good for something. And they are. Embryonic stem cells provide an emotional issue with which the Democrats can beat on the president. But that’s about all they good for.

So in the Stem Cell Super Bowl, Adult leads Embryonic 76-0. Adult has had another amazing breakthrough and looks to be on the way to scoring several more times. But wait! Is that someone looking to throw down a billion dollar bet with your hard earned tax money on Embryonic? Trailing 76-0, nobody can be that dumb. Oh wait, yes they can - it’s Harry Reid.

Jimmy Carter; former president or deranged lunatic? Yes.

The name Carter is doing for the phrase “dumber than a hoe handle” what the name Lewinsky did for term “oral sex”. Soon foremen across America will be issuing threats like, “And the next time you Carter something up, like the time you tried to save us money by adding five gallons of water to all of our fuel tanks, you’re fired!”

Jimmy Carter is not content to go down in history as a failed president who tried to help people by building houses for the poor after leaving office. He wants to go down in history as a failed president who tried to help people by building houses for the poor after leaving office while codling and standing up for murderous dictators around the world. Carter has sat in praise of Fidel Castro and just about every Middle Eastern, South American and African thug imaginable.

Now Jimmy Carter, the man who gave rise to the Iranian problem we now face in the first place, is lecturing us on how we should treat Hamas. Hamas is the Iranian backed and more radical of the two Islamo-terror-fascists groups vying for control of the Palestinian territory. Carter thinks that it’s “criminal” that President Bush will not deal with Hamas, a known terrorist group on the US watch list.

The Palestinians, practitioners of that religion of peace, elected Hamas to run Palestine because Hamas promised to be more belligerent toward Israel than Fatah a more moderate Islamo-terror-fascists group. As it turns out, Hamas first had to be more belligerent to their own brothers of peace in the Fatah Party.

So Hamas has overthrown the ruling coalition government in Gaza, murdering Fatah party loyalists in the street in front of their wives and children. What’s criminal is that a former president of the United States – a Nobel Peace Prize winner no less – wants to reward the murderous barbarism that was on display in Gaza with US recognition and support. Any Western support or legitimacy supplied to these soulless freaks will end up back on Israel’s doorstep – or even our own doorstep - in the form of bombs and rockets.

Caveman immigration reform

Al Qaida ain’t so dumb. After all they managed to bring down the twin towers damage the Pentagon and kill nearly 3,000 people using box cutters and our own airplanes. Now some al Qaida mastermind who watches US news has decided that the time is right to send suicide bomber into the US.

Mohammad Ali Iminajihad no doubt made this move so that his bombers would arrive in the US before the border was secured and in time to get a Z visa from John McCain. McCain still insists that it is the American people who don’t understand the complexity of the illegal alien problem. While the American people keep telling McCain the last thing we need is another of his asinine McCain Feingold solutions that made a bigger mess of campaign finance law than before his “help” for immigration.

But nobody loves McCain more than McCain. So he drives on touting the 24 hour check of illegal aliens contained in the 800 page bill as a sufficient safeguard against al Qaida bombers. Somewhere Mohammad Ali Iminajihad is laughing himself sick at the notion that a security apparatus that had a man with TB flagged; had that man before a border guard with the notice on the screen and still allowed the sick man into the country.

No doubt Mohammad Ali Iminajihad has his team of ACLU lawyers lined up to file suite against anyone who questions the peaceful intentions of any of suicide bombers. No doubt anyone who asks as much as a “how do you do” to a Muslim will be branded a racists Islamophobe by the ACLU. Their lives will be ruined in the process so the norm for government bureaucrats will be don’t ask; don’t tell; don’t visit the mall.

When the inevitable bombs start going off, John McCain will rush to tv and tell us all not to panic. His immigration reform is working just as he had planned. After all we have way more malls than the jihadis have suicide bombers. So once they run out of bombers, the remaining malls will be perfectly safe to shop. Trent Lott will rush to tv and blame the whole thing on talk radio. Harry Reid will rush to the tv and blame it all on Bush – then he will determine if he can make money swindling mall developers. President Bush will rush to the tv and deputize everyone with a Z visa to bring the “evil doers” to justice.

The 800 page amnesty bill in the senate is a hodgepodge of loopholes and unworkable bureaucratic bovine excrement. Who believes this government has the will and/or ability to accurately screen 12 million illegal aliens – each within 24 hours?

Lex caves, joins comprehensive amnesty crowd

When you’re wrong, you’re wrong. The first step to healing is admitting that you were wrong. Lex was wrong on Comprehensive Amnesty. It’s time to join the Kennedy, Bush, McCain, Lindsey Graham (or as Rush Limbaugh calls him Lindsey Grahamnesty) amnesty crowd.

Here’s my own Comprehensive Amnesty bill as it would sound were it delivered from the Oval Office:

My fellow Americans we have 12 million souls who have broken into our country and taken advantage of our hospitality without so much as a gracias. Many in this country believe that it is not within our power as a nation to deal with this problem. They believe that only way to make the problem of 12 million law breakers go away is to legalize law breaking and declare an amnesty. I agree.

To all illegals not already incarcerated in this country and the unscrupulous ass bags employing them I here by grant a total and complete amnesty…for 60 days. Take the brief opportunity that this amnesty offers to get your to get your criminal butts out of this country and clean up your employment practices.

Starting immediately we will begin to close our borders north and south; east and west. As we do so, not only will it be hard for criminals to get in, it’ll be hard for the criminals already here to get out. Use this 60 day amnesty to leave while you have the chance.

After 60 days, while sealing our borders, we will begin to enforce all current laws on the books regarding immigration. Further, any illegal aliens apprehended after my benevolent 60 day amnesty will be forced to do 90 days doing the real work Americans would rather not do, policing interstate highways in pink underwear for our new Homeland Security Director the former Sheriff of Maricopa County, AZ Joe Arpaio. Any one caught after 120 days will do 6 months with Sheriff Joe.

As we close the borders we are going to have a 60 day amnesty on government services for illegal aliens. Criminal illegal aliens may continue to take advantage of our hospitality during the 60 day amnesty. After that, no more school, welfare, day labor centers, driver’s licenses or any service except life saving measures, but after your criminal ass is well enough, you’ll be turned over to Sheriff Joe to pick up trash on the interstate.

I agree with Senator Kennedy and the other great mind in the Senate, amnesty is the only way to clean this mess up. You have 60 days.

But of course it is a religion of peace

Well, if you needed anymore proof that Islam is indeed the “religion of peace”, take a quick look around.

In Palestine, Iranian backed Hamas peaceful Muslim radicals are about to wipe out Western backed Fatah peaceful Muslim radicals. Once victorious, Hamas will take its marching orders from Iranian nut job and a true man of peace, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad – pronounced Ma-mood I-need-a-jihad. So when Hamas wins, Israel will be forced to deal with the peaceful armed Palestinian faction of Iran. If Israel reverts to its no holds barred former self, that could be a good thing and possibly the end to the Palestinian problem and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Next let’s visit Lebanon. In that once lovely location, Syrian backed peaceful Muslim radicals are killing Western backed peaceful Muslim radicals while the Lebanese army tries to rout peaceful al Qaida Muslims out a peaceful Muslim Palestinian refugee camp. It was from chaotic Lebanon that the Iranian backed peaceful Muslim radical group Hezbollah launched its war against Israel last year. Hmm is there a pattern here?

In Iraq, peaceful Sunnis are blowing up peaceful Shiites and vice versa. Peaceful Muslims in Iran are sending arms to both sides. We know that the peaceful Muslims in Iran are sending arms and men into Iraq to destabilize that country. But, in State Department mumbo jumbo, we can’t prove that the Iranian government is behind it, so we can’t act. It’s sort of like you having a drug smuggling ring operating out of your basement. You some how claim that you don’t know a thing about it, so the police can’t raid your house. Riiiiiight?

Then there are the ordinary peaceful Muslims around the world doing the jihad other Muslims just won’t do. You know peacefully blowing up buses in Israel, trains in London, and Spain, blowing up night clubs in Bali, kidnappings, beheadings, mall shootings, D.C. sniper attacks, etc. You know just the run of the mill peaceful religious stuff - nothing spectacular like 9-11 - just picking off one or two or a handful of people at time. These things go almost unnoticed in a world of “progressives” hell bent on burying their heads deep in the sand while repeating over and over, Islam is religion of peace, right up to point that some peaceful Muslim youth blows himself up while standing right next to them.

And while these peaceful Muslims run to and fro creating havoc, death and destruction in their wake, the really peaceful Muslims sit and are complicit in their silence. The only thing that can raise the masses of really peaceful Muslims up is to protest and riot about books they cannot read or cartoons they don’t understand. And while Western leaders wring their hands and fret over Middle East violence, Arab leaders sit back in their palaces and take another puff from their hookah pipes, laugh, and do nothing, because they are, after all, a peaceful bunch.

Bush visits the hill for important issues

As he does whenever there is a matter of great importance, such as going to war, the Iraq spending bill, cutting taxes, Social Security reform and homeland security, President Bush trekked up the hill to congress yesterday to push for Comprehensive Amnesty for 12 million ILLEGAL ALIENS.

No wait. The president didn’t trek up to Capitol Hill to lobby for war – apparently that was not important enough an issue for this president. And it wasn’t important enough to this president to trek up to Capitol Hill to lobby for the last Iraq spending bill or to push for cutting taxes or to push congress to reform a failing Social Security system or to lobby for homeland security. But for 12 million ILLEGAL ALIENS? Why warm up the limo. The president has to get up the hill.

So the next time someone asks why I’m tired of Bush, I’m going to tell them, “Of all of the things that this president might have traveled up the hill to lobby for, he chose Comprehensive Amnesty. Any more questions?”

Then in perhaps the dumbest statement ever uttered or written by anyone in the administration for last six years, there’s this idiocy from Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff who said in a letter that his department "has always vigorously enforced the law, and will continue to do so." Hey Mike! There are 12 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS IN THE COUNTRY!! If that’s enforcing the law, I’d hate to see your department when they are incompetent.

That is why nobody believes the hacks in Washington on this Comprehensive Amnesty bill. If idiots like Chertoff think that they have “vigorously enforced the law” with 12 MILLION ILLEGAL ALIENS running around unchecked, what can we expect from a new Comprehensive Amnesty law? 45 Million illegal aliens running around unchecked – that’s what.

Chertoff would have been much better off saying, “Look we’ve done a lousy job enforcing our current laws. 12 MILLION ILEGAL ALIENS proves that. And that’s why we need this more comprehensive approach and a clean slate – so we can get on track and for the first time in 40 years start to take Homeland Security on our southern border seriously.”

That - “we’ve always vigorously enforced the law” - is bull$h&t of the highest order.

Harry's feel good moment

Whew! I feel better already. Now that Harry Reid’s do-nothing, be-nothing, know-nothing senate has brought up a “no confidence” vote on Attorney General Gonzales the sun seems a little brighter – no wait that’s global warming – food tastes better and there is more gas in my gas tank. Thanks Harry. Oh, by the way, do you have any tips on hot Las Vegas land deals?

And don’t think that just because the “no confidence” vote failed that it is a failure for Harry. We all know that like everything else liberal, it the intention that counts. Every liberal program imaginable such as, campaign finance reform, Medicare/cade, Social Security, Welfare, affirmative action etc. is a mess of fraud waste and abuse. But results in the liberal world do not matter. What matters to liberals are intentions and they meant well with all of those failed programs so they are heroes.

So now this “no confidence” vote on Gonzales has failed but we all feel better because Harry is on the job doing the people’s business. We all know there is nothing the American people want more than a “no confidence” vote on some guy 90% of them couldn’t pick out of a line up with the Three Stooges and Bozo the clown acting as distracters.

Way to go Harry. I just can’t understand why your approval rating is down to 19%. That’s about 20 points lower than the president’s or vice president’s. First that masterfully crafted 800 page Comprehensive Amnesty bill that has more legal loop holes than the fence on our southern border has actual holes, now this failed “no confidence” vote. Both of these measures demonstrate what a wonderful chief of the senate you are.

Unless a real crime is uncovered, I predict that Gonzales will remain to the end of this administration. The reason is simple. Bush doesn’t want to have to nominate a new guy and have him savaged by Chuckles Schumer and the other light weights – Dems and Reps alike - on the Judiciary Committee. Remember the administration pulled the re-nomination of General Pace “to avoid a confrontational reconfirmation.” So if the administration is so afraid of Dems in the senate as not to re-nominate the uniformed head of the Defense Department during time of war, what are the chances of the administration sending a nominee before the Judiciary Committee if they don’t have to?

Oh by the way, General Pace is smarter, more honest, more conscientious and just down right a better person than about 90% of the men and women who would sit in judgment of him in the senate.

Black Night Bush; In search of the unholy amnesty

The immigration bill is nearly dead. So President Bush has decided to take it upon himself to resurrect the matter. Hmm. Does anyone else get a mental picture of the Black Night in Monty Python and the Holy Grail with Bush playing the Black Night?

For the unwashed, in the movie, the Black Night guards a tiny bridge in the middle of nowhere for no particular reason. When King Arthur shows up and tries to cross the bridge, the Black Night appears and issues the rather ironic warning, “None shall pass!” Which if we’re talking about immigration seems to be true.

Well Arthur issues a challenge and in the ensuing combat, cuts one of the Black Night’s arms off. The Black Night not comprehending the full nature of his injury protests, “tis but a scratch.” Combat continues and Arthur severs the Black Night’s other arm – to which the insanely over confident Night insists “it is but a flesh wound.” Combat continues and Arthur cuts off one of the Night’s legs. The delusional Night screams, “I’m invincible!” Finally Arthur cuts off the remaining leg and begins to cross the bridge. The Night yells, “come back coward. I’ll butt you with my head.”

So President “Black Night” Bush is going to resurrect the ailing immigration amnesty. Bush lost the house, one arm gone; lost the senate, two arms gone; infuriated the last segment of the American people who support him with his idiotic support for comprehensive amnesty, one leg gone. Now he’s hopping around on his one remaining limb claiming he’s invincible and is going to resurrect a poorly fashioned immigration amnesty. Riiiight.

Sadly, we must get ready to lop off the president’s last remaining appendage. At this point of his presidency, Bush is about as powerful a political enemy as the Black Night with two arms and a leg cut off. Instead of saving himself for the next fight on Iraq, Bush is foolishly going to make his last fight the immigration amnesty.

Bush should let this go and save his last leg for the real fight in September. That’s when the report on the Iraq surge is due. No matter what the report says, Democrats will call Iraq a failure and demand withdrawal. As evidenced in this immigration fight, many go along get along Republicans will sell out for political expedience. Even a severely wounded Bush might be able to rally enough support among Republicans to do the right thing on Iraq.

Black Night Bush should accept this bill is dead and let it go. There is another scene in Monty Python and the Holy Grail that’s applicable. In the plague scene, a wagon rolls through town with man calling out, “Bring out your dead.” A young man shows up carrying an elderly man over his shoulder to throw on the wagon, but the old man protests. “I’m not dead.” The younger man replies, “Well he’s really sick.” “I’m feeling better”, protests the old man. The young man slips the wagoneer a couple of bucks; conks the old man on the head and throws him on the wagon.

The immigration amnesty bill is next to dead. Sadly, when it is finally thrown on the wagon of the truly dead, it will probably land on top of Black Knight Bush.

It ain't over 'til it's over

It ain’t over until the skinny crooked land baron from Nevada, Harry Reid, says it’s over. But at least it’s not law. Sane members of the Senate, some who actually supported the amnesty bill, latched on to a political survival ring when they voted to sunset some amnesty provisions of the bill. So the bill wasn’t killed last night. It was, like any complicated unreadable 600 page piece of fiction, set aside for a while so the author could pick it up a later point and look at it with a fresh set eyes.

My hope is that all the angst this bill caused will have some positive results:

First and foremost – kill John McCain’s presidential bid. This guy’s a menace. First campaign finance reform - aka stop the first amendment ­- all because HE WAS ONE OF THE KEATING FIVE and couldn’t stay away from crooked money. Then anti tax cut now this open borders crap. Seeya John.

Next, some good hard primary races for McCain, Lindsey Graham, Trent Lott, Jon Kyl, Charlie Hagle etc. These RepubliRATs need to pay a price for their idiocy. A good primary challenge might wake them up to their supposed conservative roots. Even losing a few senate seats in the short term would be preferable to having to be lectured by these light-weights day in and day out about what we don’t understand about securing our borders, lower taxes, winning the war etc.

Thank you so much for that kind introduction. It is a pleasure to be here among so many friends.

Now, I know there are some who are probably wondering - what is a nice Independent Democrat from Connecticut doing at a Republican event like this?

Well, a funny thing happened on the way to reelection last year. And as Rabbi Hillel said, the rest is commentary.

In all seriousness, many of you in this room stood with me last year through the long journey up a winding road that was my 2006 reelection campaign. You came to my side without regard for party affiliation, and you stayed there even after I ran as an Independent but said I would caucus with the Democrats. Your nonpartisanship in my race is a model for what our politics should be. I thank you personally and deeply for it. I could not have won without it.

And I pledge to you that I will do everything I can to vindicate your confidence.
We gather at a critical time for the future of our country. The war in Iraq has now become the defining issue for this Congress and for this presidency -- although the decisions we will make in the weeks and months ahead about Iraq will have consequences that reach far beyond the terms of anyone now in office.

Part of the disagreement we face over Iraq comes down to a genuine difference of opinion. On the one hand, there are those who believe, as I do, that the struggle against Islamist extremism really is the central challenge of our time, and that, as General David Petraeus, our commander in Iraq, recently said, "Iraq is now the central front of the war against Islamist extremism."

On the other hand, there are those who reject this view -- who genuinely believe that the threat of Islamist extremism is overstated, or that Iraq is a distraction from the "real" war on terror, or that the war there is lost, or not worth fighting to win.

It is my deeply held conviction that these people are not only wrong, they are disastrously wrong -- and that the withdrawal they demand would be a moral and security catastrophe for the United States, for Iraq, and for the entire Middle East, including Israel and our moderate Arab allies.

Let there be no doubt - an American defeat in Iraq would be a victory for Al Qaeda and Iran© the two most threatening enemies we face in the world today. It would vindicate the hope of our enemies that America is weak and that we can be driven to retreat by terrorism, and it would confirm the fear of our friends -- not only in Iraq, but throughout the world -- that we are unreliable allies who will abandon them in the face of danger.
The fact of the matter is, you cannot claim to be tough on terrorism while demanding that our military withdraw from Iraq, because it is the terrorists, particular Al Qaeda, that our military is fighting in Iraq.

You cannot claim to be committed to defeating Al Qaeda, while demanding that we abandon the heart of the Middle East to Al Qaeda. And you cannot claim to be tough on Iran, while demanding the very thing that the mullahs want most of all - the retreat of the American military from the Middle East in defeat, leaving a vacuum that Iran will rush to fill.

I recognize that this war has been controversial, and there are those who oppose it on principle. I respect that. But too much of the debate we are having today about withdrawal from Iraq has little or nothing to do with principle, or with reality in Iraq.
It is about politics and partisanship here in Washington.

For many Democrats, if President Bush is for it, they must be against it. If the war is going badly, it is bad for Republicans and it is good for Democrats. It is as simple as that, and it is as wrong as that. For many Republicans, the unpopularity of this war and this President has begun to shake their will. They say that they have no choice but to abandon General Petraeus and his strategy because the American people tell the pollsters they want out. If previous generations of American leaders had allowed their conduct of war to be shaped by partisanship or public opinion polls, we would not be the strong and free nation we are blessed to be today.

Republicans in Congress delude themselves if they think they will be helping either themselves, their party, or their country if they now attempt to wash their hands of Iraq, out of a sudden sense of political anxiety. Democrats in Congress delude themselves if they think they will not be held accountable for the bloody consequences of the retreat from Iraq they seek.

The fact is, a loss to Al Qaeda and Iran in Iraq would be devastating to our security. These are fateful days and critical decisions we are making about Iraq. We must make them with our eye on the safety of America's next generation, not the outcome of America's next election.

It is to the everlasting credit of President Bush that in the war against Islamist extremism he has shown the courage and steadfastness to stand against the political passions of the moment.

I have never hesitated to express disagreement with the President on any issue when I felt he was wrong - and I have criticized his administration many times for the serious mistakes I believe it made in prosecuting the war in Iraq.

But let me tell you this: I believe that each of us should be grateful that we have a commander-in-chief who does not believe that decisions about war should be driven by poll numbers. And each of us should be grateful that we have a commander-in-chief who does not confuse what is popular with what is right for our security as a nation. The public opinion polls may not reflect this today, but I believe history will tomorrow.
My friends, as Ronald Reagan once said, now is the time for choosing.
If we stand united through the months ahead, if we stand firm against the terrorists who want to drive us to retreat, the war in Iraq can be won and the lives of millions of people can be saved.

But if we surrender to the barbarism of suicide bombers and abandon the heart of the Middle East to fanatics and killers, to Al Qaeda and Iran, then all that our men and women in uniform have fought, and died for, will be lost, and we will be left a much less secure and free nation.

That is the choice we in Washington will make this summer and this fall. It is a choice not just about our foreign policy and our national security and our interests in the Middle East. It is about what our political leaders in both parties are prepared to stand for. It is about our very soul as a nation. It is about who we are, and who we want to be.

Will this be the moment in history when America gives up -- when Al Qaeda breaks our will, when our enemies surge forward, when we turn our backs on our friends and begin a long retreat from our principles and promise as a nation?

Or will this be the moment when America steps forward, when we pull together, when we hold fast to the courage of our convictions, when -- with a new strategy, and a new commander on the ground -- we begin to turn the tide toward victory in this long and difficult war?

I know that we can rise above the anger and smallness of our politics. I know we can rise to the greatness that this moment demands of us.

The question is -- will we choose to do so?

I would like to close today by sharing with you a story from my last visit to Iraq a few months ago. It was in Anbar province in western Iraq -- the center of the insurgency -- a part of the country that conventional wisdom last year dismissed as hopeless.

In fact, on September 11, 2006, the Washington Post ran a front-page story reporting that even the chief of Marine Corps intelligence in Iraq had concluded that Anbar was "lost," and our position there was "beyond repair."

I was in Anbar last December, on a forward operating base just outside Ramadi, the capital of the province. As one of the briefings with our military commanders ended, a colonel who had been sitting in the back of the room came up to me. He said something that I carry with me to this day -- something that I hope you will carry with you as well.
He said: "Sir, I want you to know on behalf of the soldiers in my unit and myself that we believe in why we are fighting here, we want to finish this fight. And we know we can win it."

Today, five months later, Anbar has been dramatically transformed. Thanks to the bravery, ingenuity, and commitment of our men and women in uniform, shops and schools have reopened, Al Qaeda is on the run, thousands of Iraqis have joined the local police, and -- yes -- no less than the New York Times reports that we have turned the corner there.

My friends, now is not the time for despair. Now is the time for resolve.
Now is not the time for reflexive partisanship and pandering to public opinion. Now is the time for the kind of patriotism and principle America's voters have always honored.
I ask you to plead with every member of Congress you can in the days and weeks ahead -

Do not surrender to hopelessness.

Do not succumb to defeat.

Do not give in to fear.

Rise above the political pressures of the moment to do what is right for America.
Believe, like that colonel, in why we are fighting in Iraq, and know, as he and his soldiers know, that we can and must win there.

Let's give it another shot

If the poll below is any indication, we may be having an effect. It’s time for one more push. If you don’t think this worth the time or effort to contact your congress people read this from Power Line:

Robert Rector of the Heritage Foundation estimates that the net cost of amnesty over the next four decades will be approximately $2.5 trillion. Keep that in mind when you hear proponents of the legislation citing the misleading CBO figures they contrived to manufacture.

And this:

Sen. John Cornyn's amendment to the Senate immigration bill, which would have prevented felons from obtaining legal status, was defeated today on a 51-46 vote. My understanding is that most observers considered Cornyn's challenge to the compromise to be the most likely to derail it.

Bob Novak writes that there are only around 30 conservative Senators opposing the bill, with Jon Kyl, Johnny Isakson, Trent Lott and Saxby Chambliss, all of whom opposed last year's bill, supporting the current version.

Meanwhile, Rasmussen reports that public support for the compromise package is slipping. Currently, only 23% support the bill, with 50% opposed. When given the alternatives of enacting the present bill and doing nothing, 49% prefer to do nothing, compared to 32% who favor passage of McCain-Kennedy.

Give your congress people and the RINOS Kyl, Lott etc. mentioned in the PowerLine story a shout and stop this insanity. Here’s mine:

You have got to be kidding me. Have you people lost your minds? An amendment to prevent FELONS from obtaining legal status has failed? So, let me get this straight, while we’re putting our own border patrol guards in jail, we’re going to legalize illegal alien felons. Have I gotten that right? 80% of Americans want the borders secured. Start immigration reform there. The ONLY good that can come from this bill is the eventual house cleaning that will take place in congress if this AMNESTY bill becomes law.

Tired of Reid, Bush, American justice and riots

Maybe we’ve delayed the madness

Well it’s about time Democrat arrogance worked for the good of the country. Nevada’s big time land baron Senator Harry Reid says he’ll bring a measure to cut off debate on the Comprehensive Amnesty bill to the senate floor today. Republicans said they will filibuster any measure that cuts off debate so soon. Reid said that if Republicans block his effort to limit debate, it would likely derail it for the rest of the year. "People are looking for excuses on the Republican side to kill this bill," he said. Not hard enough Harry.

Tired of Bush

At an outing this weekend someone said that they were “tired of Bush.” I guess that just about sums it up for me too. I don’t know anyone who is walking around saying, gee too bad Bush can’t have a third term. This Comprehensive Amnesty bill was the last straw. I could live with steel tariffs, campaign finance laws, prescription drugs benefits, Harriet Meiers, Ted Kennedy education reform, etc. etc. But after this Comprehensive Amnesty bill and the president’s insistence that I’m not interested in what’s best for America because I think this bill is crap and the government’s ability and/or willingness to enforce it non-existent, I’ve had it.

Scooter Libby

Libby got 30 months, a fine and additional probation from a judge yesterday for lying (or forgetting) the details of a non-crime that the prosecutor already knew who committed. Meanwhile, three border guards are in jail for trying to bring order to our southern border. Meanwhile, Sandy Burger got off essentially Scott free for stealing and destroying secret papers from the National Archive germane to the 9-11 commission report. Ain’t American justice great? Get caught in a political scandal and go to jail. Get caught trying to enforce border laws and go to jail. Get caught stealing secret national security documents go to the after dinner speaker circuit. Of course asking the president to pardon Libby and the guards is just too much to ask. Which is another reason that I’ve had it.

Barack the rioting Negro

Barak Obama is warning of riots as result of the Katrina aftermath. Well there is true gratitude for you. Give people a week’s notice to leave. Rescue those who don’t. Spend billions trying to bring New Orleans back and Barak calls for riots. What about the poor souls in Mississippi Barak? Should they be rioting? Doubt it. After all MS is red a red state more inclined to get on with cleaning up, finding opportunity where it exisits and just getting on life. Blue state/city LA and New Orleans seem content to wallow in Katrina and wait for a government hand out – which by the way they have already received.

CBO says Amnesty bill flawed

The Congressional Budget Office is reporting that the Comprehensive Amnesty bill currently before the Senate is seriously flawed and among other things will lead to more than 500,000 illegal aliens in the first decade. These poor people of course will only be doing the work legal aliens won’t do at a much lower wage. The new illegal aliens will comprise the first half million of what will turn into tens of millions covered by the next big amnesty bill in about 2017. That bill will be written by the first illegal alien elected to congress and signed by the first president from the newly formed Socialist Worker’s Party – Juan Guermillo Calderon Jimenez. Jimenez was elected when ballots written only in Spanish were delivered to several white districts. The whole thing was settled when the five Latinos on the Supreme Court declared, “No problemo.”

Wow, imagine my surprise when the CBO came out and said a bill before our congress was fouled up. Shocking! A government that goes hyper over one American entering his own country with a communicable disease while on a watch list is perfectly OK with millions of illegal aliens breaking into our country every year unscreened. Of the 12 or so million illegal aliens in this country, what are the chances of one of them being contagious with something? But hey, as long as they bag the clippings, sweep under the couch and change jr’s dirty unmentionables, we can live with a little TB, AIDES, plague, or whatever third world disease they brought with them when they snuck into the country.

Then there are the Ft. Dix six and the JFK three. These nine poor immigrant practitioners of the religion of peace were just doing the jihad that other Americans won’t do. There is absolutely no reason to look at 9-11, or cases in Buffalo or Columbus or these two new cases and think that we might want to tighten up immigration just a bit. If you believe it’s the government’s responsibility to know and limit who enters our country, you’re labeled a bigot. According to the MSM and our president, if you advocate border security for health, safety and security reasons you’re a xenophobic loser who doesn’t want what is best for America. Well I guess I’ve always been a bigoted xenophobic loser.

Dump the RNC and RINOs

I received a letter from the RNC the other day. It must have been my membership renewal because it had “renewal due” stamped on the outside of the envelope. I don’t know what the letter said. I tore it in half before opening it. I was going to throw it away but decided to save it. I’m going to spend 41 cents of my own hard earned Yankee dollars to send the letter back to the RNC with the following note:

No thanks. Post this letter down at the nearest day labor center. I’m sure the floods of ILLEGAL ALIENS that the RNC is courting are anxious to join, contribute and do the party work other Republicans just won’t do.

I think it’s time to clean house. I’ve been of the opinion that politics was the art of the possible. I don’t think we can afford that attitude any longer. It’s time to get rid of some of the Lindsey Graham, Olympia Snow and Susan Collins type dead weight RINO Republicans. They all should face strong primary opposition. If they win the primary, conservatives should sit out the general election. Better to be sold down the river by Libs who you know than the Reps you don’t.

Like when you clean out the garage, things may have to get messier, old things tossed out, new things brought in, before the garage is better. That’s where we are with the Republican Party. We have to toss a few out and bring few new ones in. Things may be messier, higher taxes, open borders etc. for a short time but we should not continue down the current path any further.

The Hillary trap

In the post below, Lex has noted that somewhere along the line a generation of Americans has gotten the idea that it is no longer necessary to struggle for high ideals or lofty goals. The notion that struggling to achieve greatness in some endeavor made that achievement all the more worthy it seems vanished with the end of the Cold War.

The notion that America should no longer be required to struggle or that there is nothing other than our own 401K security worth struggling for is biting us in Iraq, in schools, on our border and soon in our politics. Hillary and most other Dem candidates are on the, why should I have to work - can’t someone just take care of me train. John Edwards has made his entire campaign about the two Americas. Waging open class warfare and envy and largely ignoring the fact that of fat cat Americans he’s among the fattest. Obama has issued his universal healthcare plan that supposedly brings 42 million uninsured Americans under coverage while reducing the cost of Americans already insured by $2,500.

But John Edwards is such a transparent phony that he has about as much chance of being president as being seen cutting his own grass with a 20 inch push mower. Unless a Chinaman with a new super abacus steps forward and is able to explain how you can bring 42 million uninsured into a program all the while reducing the cost for the those already paying, Obama is toast as well.

Clinton is the scary one. She will have the mad dog Dems. So now she’s shooting for the why should I have struggle crowd. Recently Hillary said that Bush's "ownership society" is really nothing more than an "on your own" society. What this means to the public school crowd is redistribution of wealth. Sit around acting pathetic and let those hard working enough or creative enough to work hard and create while the "we're all in this together crowd" collect the benefits of the hard work and creativity - without really contributing much.

Many think that that type of program could never sell in America. It’s socialism at best communism at worst. Well, yeah it can. We’re about as 50-50 a nation as it gets. Hillary will have Dem support. If Reps side with Dems on this dopey AMNESTY bill and then side with Dems to quit the war as many craven RINOs will, I think a good many Reps will sit the ’08 election out. That will hand ’08 to Clinton.

If you think sitting out an election with Hillary Clinton as one of the principals is a good idea, just remember her "I want to take those profits" promise after Exxon Mobile released their FY 2006 profits. Can you say redistribution?
