Gen Z in UK can’t read an analog clock, read, write, add, subtract etc. etc. etc.

British schools are getting rid of analog clocks because the supposedly “smartest kids ever” can’t read them.  So let me get this straight.  The kids can’t read an analog clock.  So instead of teaching them to read the thing, the SCHOOL decides to get rid of the clocks.  YGBSM.

One question limeys, what are you going to do with Big Ben?   

So as school “teachers” strike across America for higher pay, what else aren’t they teaching kids?  There was an article not long ago that an appalling percentage of 8^th graders in the US can’t read or do math at an 8^th grade level.  So hell yeah, give their teachers a raise, a couple of more days off, a box of p*ssy hats and a #NEVERTRUMP t-shirt.

I’m not sure it’s the rank file teachers’ fault that Johnny is a dumbazz.  There is so much Leftist BS going on in schools these days, I’m pretty sure the average teacher feels like PDJT when they show up for work, “What kind of Leftist BS is going to be foisted onto me and by extension my class today.  What new bit of insane Lefty Lib BS is going to distract me from teaching Johnny that the only correct answer to 2+2 is 4 even if he ‘feels like a 5’ today?”

Take the Parkland kids…please.  When did it become okay to stage walkouts in public schools.  In my day it was called skipping school or truancy.  Yeah, I know.  I’m that guy yelling at the kids to get off my lawn and asking Jr. how the sock hop went.  But still, if they’re dumbazzes, why aren’t they in class.  

This public education thing these days reminds me of the auto industry in its heyday. The auto unions extorted the auto makers to the point of killing the golden goose.  It’s not all the unions’ fault.  It took both sides agreeing to unreasonably high compensation for producing a sh*tty product to allow the Japanese to enter the American car market.

That’s where we are with public education. The teachers strike for (extortion) more and more money and benefits.  The school boards go along just to get the kids back into class, because they know that a lot parents look at school as their public daycare allowing them to work.  Just like the auto unions’ goal was never better cars, the teachers’ goal is never better education.  Just like auto management just wanted to get the line back up and running, the goal of school boards becomes to just get the kids back to class so that parents don’t need to make other daycare arrangements for their kids.  Education never enters the equation.  If it did Johnny would be able to read and do math.    

For the American car industry, the only thing that made it get its excrement amalgamated was competition. It’s time for the pols to scrap the 19^th century public school model, tell the teachers’ unions to go to hell and come up with a 21st century model for public education that cannot be shaken down by the line workers.

“Really, Lex?  Teachers are now 'line workers.'”  Well I was using an auto union metaphor.  But yeah, just as automation took many auto UAW jobs, the interweb that can put the very best teachers into every classroom in America, can be used to reduce average teachers to nothing more than classroom monitors/tutors.  

A day of cultural appropriation
Yes Cinco de Mayo is upon us.  I have my sombrero, serape and fake Mexican mustache ready to go.  I’ll be swilling Madero beer, tossing down Tacos and listening to Mexican music – which, unless it’s La Bamaba*, all sounds the same to me, like Gregorian chants.  Am I horrible human being?

I suspect the Left will answer with a resounding, “YES!!  You racist bastard!!!” In the long run, I think this why the left is bound to lose.  Who wants to hang out on the side of a bunch humorless f*cks?

Just for grins, that teenager who was targeted by the left for wearing a Chinese dress to the prom, should put it on for Cinco and top it off with a sombrero.  OH the humanity!!

Note to the perpetually offended:  No one appropriates the BS parts of a culture or we’d all show up at the cinco party as illegal aliens or dope dealers.  We appropriate the good stuff.  Get a life.  Better yet, try to enjoy life.

Re Bill Forsythe letter “A call for sanity” May2, 2018

After 40 years of Leftist instruction in America’s public schools they have nearly succeeded in rendering the American people, or at least the Leftists who contribute to this page in overwhelming numbers, ignoramuses. How hard is it for Leftist JG readers to examine the 27 plain words of the Second Amendment and come to the conclusion that it has not one thing to do with hunting? 

Day after day the wizards of smart write into the JG with the nonsensical notion that no one needs an AR-15 to hunt and the JG’s alert editorial staff publishes the drivel. 

First, the AR-15 is a fine platform for hunting small game.  Second, the wizards of smart do not get to decide what kind rifle I “need” for hunting or anything else any more than I get to decide what kind of car they “need” or what they “need” to cook for dinner.  Most importantly, the #2A has nothing to do with hunting.  Read it. 

The JG buys the ink and newsprint.  They can print whatever they want – for now, but the editors might ask themselves, “Are we in the news business to educate and inform the public, or are we just a wholly owned subsidiary and propaganda machine of the far Left?”  

A call for sanity

On April 15, some 300 make-believe militia men toting semi-automatic firesticks of freedom rallied in Fort Wayne to proclaim their inviolate gun rights. An organizer invoked the Redcoats as his rationale for owning an assault rifle.

One day later – one day! – The Journal Gazette reported two new shootings in Fort Wayne, with another article about country music stars memorializing 58 people killed last year in a mass shooting at a concert in Las Vegas. That same day on the editorial page, letter writer Stan Needham accused all accursed progressives of having a secret agenda to repeal the Second Amendment. Speaking as a progressive, allow me to assure Needham that in a society as violent and gun fetishistic as ours, repeal is impossible. Anyway, a whopping 5 percent of all Americans still need guns to hunt.

However, Needham must concede that some revision to a document written two centuries ago by slaveholders in powdered wigs is in order. In other words, now that we've beaten the Brits, we can put the guns away.

Finally, as if two more bullet-riddled crime scenes in our city only one day after the bring-your-rifle rally weren't tragic irony enough, it turns out the alleged assailant and both of his wounded victims in one of the shootings are children: ages 14, 14 and 9, respectively. Enough! Let's demand sane gun laws, now.
