Orderly immigration is NOT Sovietesque - it's common sense

Today Lex takes writers to Ft. Wayne’s left wing rag JG to task, but it’s not on gun control.  A couple of nitwits wrote in to advocate for open borders.  In the process they pulled the old lefty lib assault weapon calling anyone who disagrees with them racists and equating an orderly immigration process with old Soviet policy.

Re: William Lewis and John Steven’s letter “Prejudice shouldn’t inform US immigration policies” May 9, 2018

What’s surprising about Lewis and Steven’s piece isn’t their racist view that people of color are so inconsiderate, lazy, criminally minded, and morally bankrupt that they are incapable of following the law, liberals are, after all, the most racist intolerant people in the country.

Even their dopey understanding of immigration law and economics is predictable lefty lib hokum.

Their inability to grasp the simple differences between a wall designed to keep drugs, illegal guns, criminals and terrorist out and old Soviet style walls designed to keep people in is typical lefty lib nonsense.

It’s certainly no surprise that lefty libs would immediately resort to calling anyone who might hold a different point of view than their own - racist, alt right, white supremacists.  That is the ONLY argument, fake as it is, a lefty lib has these days and they shout it so often it has now lost all meaning.

What's the old saying, "When the only tool you have is a hammer, everything begins to look like a nail."  That's today's lefty libs.  They have no logical arguments, so  everyone must be a racist.

Since they are probably publicly educated liberals none of that surprises me in the least.  Their education insures they are devoid of common sense, reason and basic history.

It’s only mildly surprising that there are two authors, but in the process of writing their misguided missive neither had the presence of mind to say, “Hey, maybe we should take 10 minutes and google the Soviet Union before we equate it with America.” Hubris has a mind of its own.

What is really surprising about Lewis and Stevens’ piece is that in it they plainly, maybe inadvertently put modern day lefty liberalism on display stripped naked for all to see.  It’s clear that they do not particularly care for their country as founded and certainly don’t have any use for more than half the country’s citizens.

Prejudice shouldn't inform US immigration policies
To echo our former conservative comrades, “Enforce the laws already on the books concerning employers hiring undocumenteds!” Either require employers to hire legal workers or pay a penalty for employing illegal immigrants. Certain employers depend on cheap labor and there seem to be some jobs Americans simply don't want to do. If employers don't want to use E-Verify to document their employees, then they should be penalized, not the employee or the taxpayer.
And what about all the previous talk we have heard about the “free market”? Clearly, even low wages can be a strong incentive for those who have nothing. Either we believe in a free-market economy or we don't. We practice it or we don't. The free market and DACA have been a great success. Those children, now many of whom are adults and have lived their entire lives as Americans, have provided real value to our economy, culture and military.
If we can call this out for what it is, it's about color, pigment, race and culture. Many hardcore Donald Trump supporters are terrified that they are soon to be outnumbered by brown-skinned people because of their own ignorant fears of others unlike themselves and a mistaken prejudice that informs them that there is a “superior race.”
Of course, the United States cannot have an unregulated open border policy, and there need to be thoughtful, informed and effective immigration policies in place. But cries to “Build that wall!” have a creepy Soviet twist to them and do not address critical realities. Inbound border crossings are at historic lows at our southern borders, and this is the 21st century, not 14th century China. A great wall is not necessary. There are electronic methods as well as natural boundaries that can be effectively utilized to control the few individuals now attempting entry.
Continue on this same racist and Sovietesque path, and we can look forward to the same isolation and failure that brought communism and its adherents to their knees.
